... & Magpie regularly drains the hot chocolate bowser.

If you understand that, or you're just cool with it, come on in & bagsie a chair by the fire.

The crocs are grey. He probably bought them in a Lidl aisle of shite. They aren’t real crocs.

The onesie has got to go. It’s going to have to get lost. Somehow.

My solution to the husbandly dressing gown of doom which was slowly disintegrating (far too slowly imo) was to wash it regularly and frequently on the hottest program the machine offered, with the highest spin speed, to help it on its way. Eventually he agreed that it needed replacing, after I shamed him into it in front of his parents.

I'm glad you are a part of this community, too!

No need to worry about being creative, witty et cetera. When you have the energy you will be able to demonstrate all of these attributes and more, if you so wish. I find all your contributions thoughtful and kind and well worth reading.

Keep on looking after yourself. Sometimes it's a full-time job.

You've said it all so well too, Inky, finding the perfect words for AlexandraLeaving - thank you to you and Errol this morning Smile

MarieDeGournay · 11/10/2025 11:20

Inky, I found this picture of you and Boily on an old thread - nice, isn't it?
you are obviously having a companionable Saturday morning, - newspapers, coffee, crosswords.. Smile

🎼

I just can't help believing
When he coughs and groans and sneezes
With his runny nose and even
With that pink rimmed bleared discomfort in his eyes

And I just can't help believing
When he's lying close beside me
And my heart beats with the rhythm of his snores

This time the onesie has to go
This time the onesie has to go
For more than just a day

(I just can't help believing)
(I just can't help believing)
(I just can't help believing)

You could buy him appropriate lounge wear for Christmas.

Even a dressing gown of doom would be better than The Fucking Onesie.

ETA. More correctly. The ABSOBloodylutely No Chance of Fucking onesie.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sorry for your loss Cher. And ongoing hugs to Swash. What a lonely path you are walking, despite being surrounded by others.

i hope Myrtle is resting well.

i’m sorry not to be more chatty or witty or creative like the rest of you in here. Work is being a bit stressful lately and I have limited energy. I do appreciate being part of this community.

@AlexandraLeaving - I’m not chatty or witty either - too tired and a bit stressed right now - but we are all welcome here, even if all we can do is huddle in a corner, eating industrial quantities of chocolate (my particular skill).

<silently tops up the hot chocolate bowser and checks that the endless cookie jar still functions>

Clearly a day for rest, healing and pleasant pursuits all round.

Magpiecomplex · 11/10/2025 13:15

Thanks Brit. I have to talk to the Aged Ps about wills and powers of attorney this afternoon.

Hot chocolate please, bar gerbil. That conversation was not as bad as it could have been, but still wasn't much fun.

Magpie, it was as important as it was difficult, so well done you for having that conversation💙

While looking for that image, I found this one. 😂

Thank goodness the hospital food is made correctly. Fortunately they put the carrots on to boil last Wednesday or they wouldn't have been soggy enough.

Sadly the coffee must be filter because it doesn't taste of dishwater. Still, I can't have everything.

You wouldn't want any of those dangerous vitamins to impede your treatment!

This is exactly the style being used. I can’t stand it after a couple of posts and just leave the threads. I know what you mean about the posters doing a service to those peaking, but it’s like being Upton-ed and Upton did have his followers. I’d prefer it if nobody replied at all and would enjoy the tumbleweed.

It's like the old saying, don't wrestle with pigs. You both get dirty but the pig enjoys it.

Good evening all!

The operation went well. They cleaned out the wound and dealt with the blister and added a new VAC - a negative pressure dressing - to draw out the infection and encourage blood supply to the wound. For once I wasn't cold on coming round and my blood pressure was fine. It often plummets after surgery.

They took swabs and tissue samples and checked the fusion which was the original operation. They managed to close some of the wound but left some open as there is a big gap which the VAC is helping to keep clear. I may need surgery again next week.

I am on very strong antibiotics every six hours. I have opted for a 3 minute push rather than an hour drip, but it's quite painful so I may go back to a drip. The IV drip means I wake when they attach it and again an hour later once it has finished and they remove it - and to the sound of the alarm that it has run through. If the pain is bearable and I can sleep the push is a better option.

I was very sick afterwards as well, but it happens after anaesthesia. I'm due a CT scan tomorrow which will show if the infection has passed into the bone. The fusion has a way to go but it's on track.

I'm also not to bear weight on the foot and need the commode but it's not too bad. I will do what is necessary to heal quickly.

The walrus came with more omelettes for breakfast and he brought the earbuds I ordered on Thursday that I can sleep in so I am not disturbed by the noise. He also brought Haribo and mouthwash, and apologised for it being both spearmint and Listerine as they are both yuck but that was all they had.

He has been to the pub twice in the last week but it means he has some time for himself. He is even booking the car in to have the sensor camera fixed because I can't do it.

I was surprised to find I don't seem to have time to watch crap TV or knit, though I am keeping up with The Traitors.

Finally there was a lovely surprise when I came round in recovery. One of the nurses had a hamster keyring round her neck, similar to this one but better.

I felt that somehow the gerbils had managed to send a cousin to be with me when I came round. And it was wonderful 💙
