I don't know why the press keep referring to the suspect's partner as his 'roommate' but I hope for this person's sake he/they manage to stay safe. They appear to be an innocent party who had no idea what sniper boy was going to do.

I’m in an international chat group with several thousand non-affirming or cautiously-trying-to-avoid-affirming parents of trans identifying teens/young adults and this is such a familiar sounding scenario, the only shocking part is the point where the radicalised adult child takes up arms and assassinates a political media commentator.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of Conservative Christian families with estranged* or almost-estranged QT offspring, many of whom are still financially supporting them in someway, whether that be completely bankrolling them or paying tuition or paying rent or car payments or even just phone costs. In some ways it’s good that this crime is rumoured to be by groypers because at least that way those estranged kids aren’t inspired to copycat crime.

*not usually the parents choice (although sometimes it’s a desperate ‘end of our patience, need to protect other children in the family’ decision) and there are plenty of liberal/affirming parents who have also been subjected to ‘no contact but financial’ estrangement too.

This is a 22 year old man - who was on a scholarship (after previously going on a more academic course and dropping out) who appears to be thinking with the level of a rather dumb 10 year old.

We now have more information from officials about one of the suspects initially arrested - George Zinn.

Zinn was at the event where Kirk was shot and killed. As people fled, he was allegedly seen shouting that he had shot Kirk, according to Utah authorities.

He was arrested but later said he had falsely taken responsibility to sabotage police efforts to catch the gunman.

Officials say the distraction may have helped Robinson evade detection for longer, so Zinn has been charged with obstruction of justice.

Officials say they do not believe Zinn worked with Robinson.

He is also facing further charges for possession of child sex abuse material, after officials found over 20 images of children on his phone.

That Zinn dude is a nutter, he has a criminal record for making false bomb threats.

No evidence that he’s in anyway connected to TR or the extended Polycule tho.

The FBI will be running down any connections that might point to a conspiracy. If those texts are any indication, it's fairly likely that Robinson blabbed or at least hinted about his plans. At that point all his friends will want to be able to say that they just thought he was bullshitting.
