Of course it is terrible parenting, the children deserve privacy but that doesn’t change the fact that some of the comments here are disgusting.

Which ones?

Maybe report them.

A brain injury is a medical condition. Schizophrenia is regarded as a psychological/neuro divergent crossover these days. Dyslexia, ASD, ADHD, add etc are neuro diverse conditions.

They are neuro-atypical. Neurodiversity has no definitions or boundaries it just means no two brains are alike without reference to normal. They are developmental conditions that can severely affect the function of the person and their ability to live independently.

How do you mean? Because he has neurodivergent children? Most people I know with neurodivergent children, especially autism, are GC. They are (rightly) terrified of their children being captured by this ideology.

Sorry if you meant something else.

They've not said neurodivergent though. They've said neurodiverse.

It probably is just poor language usage on her part, but everyone is part of neurodiversity. Not everybody is neurodivergent.

But you are right many of us with neurodivergent children are GC because we are afraid of an ideology capturing them and taking hold, but the Tennants have a lot to gain from the constant publicity and ideological uproar.

2021x · 05/09/2025 09:17

Actually you may disagree with what they say, but none have been disgusting.

They are, and mumsnet have deleted comments like ‘there is a label for everything nowadays’ and stuff calling ND nonsense before. It’s offensive to those of us with children with a diagnosis or awaiting assessment. As a pp said, be careful that the dislike of this couple, which I understand, doesn’t tip into wider prejudice of children with ND and their parents. As I said before, most parents of ND children are very GC.

And herein lies the rub.
How can anyone who's neuro divergent have proper understanding by employers, schools, family members and wider society if they don't have an explanation for behaviours they have no control over?

Strangerthanfictions · 05/09/2025 09:25

SouthWamses · 05/09/2025 08:36

To be fair, you cannot have a diverse individual - you need a group for that.

Yes the terminology is confusing, her children as a group are neurodiverse but her individual child would be neurodivergent

How is disclosing your child's private medical information to the media legal. These 2 grifters are constantly parading their ND trans kids for the press, personally I think it is exploitative and abusive.

Grifters?

Not everyone has a proper official or medical grasp of terminology.

I know people with ND children or who are ND themselves, diagnosed with autism etc that mistakenly use ‘neurodiverse’, so yes, I’m presuming it’s a mistake as it seems to be a common one.

I don’t like this couple, I don’t agree with them talking about their children private information publicly, but some people’s prejudice is showing on this thread.

Butchyrestingface · 05/09/2025 09:30

She’s as mad as a box of frogs and an incorrigible attention-seeking grifter with no respect for her kids privacy.

The latest claims just sound like the next train she’s decided to hop aboard.

Because it is genetic. Is that hard to understand? ASD and ADHD run in families.

The ignorance and prejudice on this thread is quite shocking.

SENMum1727 · 05/09/2025 09:33

There are some really mean comments here. I use neurodiverse when I want to talk
about difficulties with my kids that are beyond neurotypical but I don’t want to disclose their diagnoses.

I prefer to let posts stand so others can see them and call them out, like I have. Nothing will change if people don’t see theses posts challenged and called wrong and prejudiced. I’m not the only one picking up on certain posts about labels and calling ND nonsense. If you think they’re ok, take a look at yourself.

It's a phrase that's popped up to describe, it's probably been coined by HR departments so hey can include it in their other diversity training. It's easily written and said and based on the more accurate terminology.
I mean I'm not adverse to a bit of pedantry myself, but when most of the population understand what this refers to it seems a bit OTT to pick at it to that degree.

We are all different, obviously, but here is a recognised divergence for all of these conditions.
Is it that you don't believe people can have ADHD, ASD etc?

TheBafflingIsGenerallyComplete · 05/09/2025 10:03

David Tennant really gives me the creeps these days. Aside from believing humans can change sex, there’s something really off about him.

Yes, they are developmental, neurodevelopmental.
The phrase neuro diverse is a catch all, but people know what it refers to and it's easier to say, that's probably why it's stuck.

I think the only issue those poor children have is having these two as parents. Shame on them.

Beautifully put, i wish i’d said that 😊.

Quoting myself to add that I can see some posts have been deleted now, so obviously others did report them, and mumsnet felt they weren’t appropriate.

2021x · 05/09/2025 10:10

They are able to express how they feel. Nothing you have said is disgusting. People will always be critical of others especially when they are trying to gain attention. Neurodiversity has no meaning and therefore is a label.

Parents with children who have e disabilities despise celebrities who behave like this because it makes it harder for them in the real world.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 05/09/2025 10:10

So she's wrung out the "I've got a trans child" thing dry any is now invading the privacy of another of her children.

Anything for attention eh, Georgia! Also really wish she wouldn't look so smug. I'm sure she feels some superiority from the illusion that the country's women all lust after her husband but honestly there isn't enough Dettol and/or gin in the land that would ever make DT attractive to me.
