I agree.

I do, too. The vitriol against complete strangers posters have likely never met simply because they don’t agree with their opinion is quite something.

Yes, they are developmental, neurodevelopmental.
The phrase neuro diverse is a catch all, but people know what it refers to and it's easier to say, that's probably why it's stuck.

Only recently. Until then neuro-atypical was used. This is more informative because it implies the person needs help because their neuro-development is out of the normal range.

Lots of people have things about their food for different reasons. This is something seen people who are neuro-atypical, but not everyone who has this trait is out of the normal neuro-developmental range.

We are all different, obviously, but here is a recognised divergence for all of these conditions.
Is it that you don't believe people can have ADHD, ASD etc?

Of course people can have ADHD and ASD (or ASC as many prefer). But if they mean these they should say them. They certainly do when it comes to legislation that could benefit other ‘neurodiverse’ conditions where the National Autistic Society suddenly lost interest in any other condition and said it should just focus on autism. It enable people to claim to speak for other conditions that affect how you think/how the brain works whilst being dominated by a single interest group that is not even the most prevalent group with ‘neurodivergent’ brain operation. Thus other conditions are sidelined. This is made even more insidious when those with autism are represented by a specific very vocal online community.

The term itself is also nonsense. The biggest factor influencing divergence in brain function is age.

Jeez! How many more do you put your jam or cream on first comments do we need about phrasing.

Don't they have a Trans child?
Its almost as if there is a link between being Trans and not NT

More than one, I should think. That was the point of my post - it explains all that "You'll have to go through me" TRA stuff.

David Tennant's wife, Georgia, reveals they have several neurodiverse children

Not to mention "Leave trans kids along you absolute freaks" 🙄

In my friendship group we don’t even disclose our own teens medical issues except to smaller subsets of the group if support needed or they in similar boat. Cannot imagine going public with medical details like this when the children cannot consent. Grifters. Judging hard.

TheaBrandt1 · 05/09/2025 10:26

So I have broadly 20 friends my teen had a MH issue ((now resolved) I told 2 of them in confidence. Which they kept.

It is hardly jam or cream first when you are a child with a significant condition that falls under ‘neurodiversity’ being told they know about meeting your needs because someone who was diagnosed with autism a year ago at the age of forty-five has given them training based on their ‘lived experience of neurodiversity.’

Thats not what I'm referring to and I think you know that.

Neuro diverse, neuro divergent, neuro atypical. It doesn't matter if she uses the medically correct terminology in this instance, we all know what Ms Tennant is taking about.

SidewaysOtter · 05/09/2025 10:33

More performative specialness from Chez Tennant. Has she got so bored of posting "You are LOVED" all over Instagram in reference to trans kids that she's now splattering her children's medical information over the internet? Hmm

GnomeDePlume · 05/09/2025 10:35

A short while ago I listened to a psychiatrist talking about the particular difficulties children of celebrities have. Especially the children of performing artists.

The difficulty that comes from having a parent who's constantly feted by others. A parent who spends a lot of time performing. This performing can extend into the home.

If you are a child growing up in that atmosphere how do you get noticed as an individual when your parents are constantly getting all the attention?

The psychiatrist said that it often leads to 'acting out'.

Not saying that is what is going on here but it was an interesting perspective.

ILoveWhales · 05/09/2025 10:35

It's hardly new is it. Neurodiversity has become ubiquitous now with everyone seeming to self diagnose themselves or their children with it. I'm sure this takes away from the children and adult who really do have it and struggle tremendously.

It's just another publicity stunt for him.I'm sure.

Yes, this.

I'm afraid as much as some don't like it, there are people who say things like GT has where your immediate attitude is suspicion.

I don't necessarily think celebrities mentioning general things about their kids is wrong, but again, they seem to have somewhat poor boundaries, and that creates scepticism as well.

And the food thing? I think large numbers of children go through issues around food, especially if their parents are weird about food. And it can be about the environment - I've seen a little girl go from being very problematic about food at home to being fairly typical if a bit picky when in other environments, not because of "masking" or something like that, but because all the pressures the parent was creating around mealtimes disappeared.

That's not "offensive" to parents with kids who have serious food issues, it's just another thing that happens sometimes.

Hobbes8 · 05/09/2025 10:35

This thread is horrible. My daughter has ASD and I can assure you that her food issues aren’t because I didn’t practice calm meal times enough.

Fuck you.

defrazzled · 05/09/2025 08:35

How is disclosing your child's private medical information to the media legal. These 2 grifters are constantly parading their ND trans kids for the press, personally I think it is exploitative and abusive.

Yeah, this. ^ Attention seeking shite. Can't believe I used to really like David Tennant. Gone right off him I have. Not least because his whole attitude to women is really off. I think you know what I mean.

IMO, He is still the best Doctor Who though! 😬

No one is saying anything about your kids. Why would you think they are?

Chocolatemasculinity · 05/09/2025 10:39

I like David Tennent - he’s kind.

The gleeful tone about a families difficulties and the spiteful comments are poor reflection on those individual posters.

I’ll never understand why people seek out minor issues like these and apparently loose their minds over it.

Rednorth · 05/09/2025 10:39

As someone with ADHD, who has children with ADHD, and taught in special schools, I will say for me there's an absolute difference between talking about your children's diagnosis as a form of advocacy (in the fight for better societal understanding, support and diagnosis) vs talking about it in a thinly veiled attempt to stay 'current'... which many of these celebs seem to do.

Anactor · 05/09/2025 10:40

Beamur · 05/09/2025 08:55

This is a really mean thread. Speculating that they're poor parents because of a comment in a podcast. There's a genetic component to this so hardly surprising that several people in the same family could be affected.

It’s also extremely common for actors to be dyslexic or neurodiverse so no, not very surprising that two actors have neurodiverse kids.

Yes, so "kind" that he referred to those who raise concerns about "trans" kids taking life-changing medication and having life-changing surgery (such minor issues!) as "absolute freaks".

So very KIND.

You think that allowing children to sterilise and damage themselves permanently with hormones is a "minor issue"?!

Not everyone has a proper official or medical grasp of terminology.

Aye, that's true and I accept that which is why I said that it's probably poor language on her part.

For a family so obsessed with pronouns and using the right words though (because the wrong words are genocidal), especially when several of their children are neurodivergent, you'd have thought they'd have clued up a bit.

It is horrible but to the Tennant haters you are just collateral damage. Most people will understand your struggles and feel supportive.
