Look I’ve been in these discussions since before this forum existed. You don’t need to break it down for me. I peaked in 2018.

But the endless sharing of upton’s name accompanied by photos and horrible comments about him and his wife is not nice. It is totally is transphobia. It’s horrible.

I could kind of understand the point of it, if it was just the name being shared.

But equally the court has ruled that Upton has a right to privacy. I thought it was all about respecting court’s rulings?

but the sharing of private photos (presumably grabbed from social media) and especially their wedding photo with insults to both of them and speculation about their marriage is awful and will not help their be a resolution to this debate. It polarises it even more and is transphobia.

fair enough, don’t let Upton change the rules of the country and workplace based on personal beliefs . But that doesn’t involve posting personal information and photos , insults and horrible speculation.

or are we just going low now?

Is it transphobic to call a man a man? Because we’ve already played this game and it isn’t. I don’t agree with bring his wife or anyone else associated with him into it. I completely understand why the hashtag is trending - women have bedn silenced on this subject for years: women forced to be imprisoned with convicted rapists. Women being forced to put up with what amounts to sexual harassment in their jobs. Women forced to give evidence and call their attackers ‘she’. Women forced out of their athletics careers. Female boxing athletes forced to either stay out of the ring or face punches from a man…and on and on and on. For too long men have been allowed to cravenly hide behind a lie that negatively impacts women. No more.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 02/09/2025 08:54

Exactly. Jane Russell KC has not let it be acknowledged that Upton is obviously a man. Upton is obviously a man. In court he was obviously a man. If you met him in the street he would obviously be a man. If you shared a changing room with him he would obviously be a man and everyone would have known he was.

If, like me, you dont use X then you have no idea what the thread is about - so how can you sensibly discuss it? You shouldnt want to draw attention to behaviour you think is bad by posting links to it.

But you’re just lying about not being on X according to the OP, they’re just looking for a fight.

TheAutumnalCrow · 02/09/2025 08:56

Oh right, OP, so it’s my fault is it, this thing that I had absolutely nothing do with and didn’t know anything about? Because I’m here on MN?

Gotcha.

Like I said, I think it’s reasonable to assume a cross over. It’s not possible to discuss on twitter and I was wanting a discussion about it because it made me feel very uncomfortable

it’ll peak people in the opposite direction

I do not think it is reasonable to assume a crossover.

Twitter is a cesspool now. The women of FWR are not the toxic, hate filled ranters that make up recent Twitter. It's a male dominated site with pretty much no rules anymore.

Dr Theodore Upton's details are in the public domain. Ms Cunningham warned about the Streisand Effect but the respondents pushed on regardless.

Perhaps if Dr Upton hadn't been a mendacious, vindictive bully dead set on destroying a woman's career and reputation such things wouldn't have happened.

Excuse me?

You think that people will see a minority of twats hurling abuse at a man and his wife online, along with a picture of the man and his name is going to make people say "Actually you know what? This is awful! Far more awful in fact than all the abuse directed at women all the time! It's convinced me that feminists are wrong and I think we should just remove all rights and protections from women as a punishment!"

Do you aye?

Edited

Exactly this. This is much bigger than Upton.

LadyBracknellsHandbagg · 02/09/2025 08:59

This poster has clearly come here to mine what they consider to be ‘transphobic’ comments and then share them on Reddit. Do not engage with the interruptaron.

BettyBooper · 02/09/2025 08:59

DU is a man who knows he's a man who knew he was crossing a boundary and did it anyway. He said in court that he would disregard a woman requesting a female Dr unless she specifically made an enquiry about his sex.

He then requested that the court redact his name from paperwork.

I don't post on twitter, but he did not respect women's privacy and yet demands it for himself. How JR could not see this coming is beyond me.

People won't accept the lies anymore.

TheKeatingFive · 02/09/2025 09:00

Biggadyboom · 02/09/2025 08:28

Fair enough, not necessarily wanting to assume that. Although I think there’s a chance of a reasonable cross over .

I guess I’m wanting a discussion about it really as that’s not possible on twitter.

Although I think there’s a chance of a reasonable cross over

You have absolutely ZERO basis for this claim, so why are you on here, a completely different site, scolding women for behaviour that has nothing to do with them?

Take it up with the poster on Twitter.

PencilsInSpace · 02/09/2025 09:01

Biggadyboom · 02/09/2025 08:51

Ok well fair enough. it wasn’t you, it was those other kids. Those naughty ones over there. I get it.

Could I ask then that we could discuss it without the childish « wasn’t us » comments?

But you're posting on here and have presumably not been sharing Theodore Upton's photos or nasty comments about him on X. Why do you assume different for the rest of us?

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 02/09/2025 09:01

I'm not on X and I don't think I knew Upton's previous name until someone mentioned it on this thread.

I don't think it makes much sense to say this on here rather than to the people actually posting these things on X.

I would also agree that if you don't care about your female colleagues' right to privacy and dignity you can't expect anyone else to care about yours.

It’s incredibly childish to blame this forum for all the ills of Twitter/X.

It does seem very nasty to drag his wife into it. His lawyer making a big deal about his 'deadname' provoked a lot of people to behave almost as badly as she and her client did.

Stupid and arrogant woman who has has not attempted to make a good case, and who by lying, dwelling on trivialities, and making very nasty personal attacks on Sandie Peggy and her family has done Upton no favours.

CohensDiamondTeeth · 02/09/2025 09:02

Biggadyboom · 02/09/2025 08:48

It’s not transphobic to call a man a man , but it is to post endless private photos including wedding photos with comments like « pervert and enabler » under them.

Well it might not be polite and I still think his wife should be kept out of it... but "pervert and enabler" isn't wrong is it.

Also, transphobia my arse! 🙄Theodore Upton is a predatory man, we used to be able to point these men out without people like you slinging meaningless terms like transphobia about. That only serves to protect these predatory men.

Maybe you should think about that next time before you use such weaponised words as transphobia at the women here, who have absolutely no say over, or control of what is said on the internet.

ScarlettSunset · 02/09/2025 09:04

I haven't seen any of these on Twitter but then I haven't actually been looking for them.
I wouldn't share them myself if I had.

That said, I consider him to be a self absorbed man who has derailed a woman's career because she dared to state the truth and he didn't like it. I don't have any sympathy if his role in that follows him around.

DeanElderberry · 02/09/2025 09:04

I do follow a lot of accounts on XTwitter and haven't seen any of those posts, so it hasn't blanketed the whole site.

Biggadyboom · 02/09/2025 09:05

I’m not looking for a fight. I’m looking for a discussion on something that made me feel very uncomfortable. I can’t go away , because I’m one of you, been a member here since 2008, readibb gender threads since 2018. I understand the points your making and agree with most of them , I have been following the tribunal. I get it. You don’t need to patronise me. I’ve donated to funders, I’ve written to elected officials, I’ve left political parties, I’ve written to public bodies, I’m on board !

But Seeing these kinda posts ( photos of Upton and his wife , nasty personal comments underneath) is one of the first times that I have seen the alleged transphobia and it’s made me think.

yes it hasn’t happened on this forum, but like I have said a couple of times now, here is a place I felt it could be discussed with a reasonable cross over. Which was correct as most of you know what I’m talking about.

I mean, maybe go tell the people doing it to stop? Just a thought.

The moment he decided to make up shit to get someone suspended and investigated for not taking her blood soaked knickers off in front of him, could have been the point at which HE decided his behaviour was inappropriate so he can't really complain now when people discuss him worldwide on the internet.

Me too. I have no idea what OP is on about, telling off MN for something done elsewhere. I only follow GC content on MN, nowhere else, because I feel safe, informed and entertained. Otherwise I only use FB where I follow London pubs and Sweep (Sooty’s friend). No other SM like many of my friends

No it wasn't us.

It was on TWITTER.

Thats a totally DIFFERENT forum.

And then you've the gall to call us childish, when my ten year old knows better than to argue like like. 🙄
