I must admit, I went looking for this because I thought it was a strange one. And the charity said it was not viable to continue that service.

What I find surprising is just how some people feel free to decide for JK Rowling how much of her money she is to put into charities. This is not her charity. She has an honorary role but it is not one that is created by her. One of her charities is one of the funders.

Yet, a poster thinks that they should be able to shame JK Rowling for not adding ‘extra’ funding. She didn’t ’withdraw’ funding from what I read. She still funds them. But apparently, this poster thinks she should simply fund a service that the charity has declared is no longer viable for them.

Yeah…. Rowling is such an evil witch though.

And if I was going to post about her ‘attacking’ someone, I might want to be very very certain that I wasn’t inadvertently giving support to abusive male people who have a history of abusing her directly, indirectly or abusing other women.

I really would want to make sure that I was confident that I wasn’t calling for a woman to simply not respond to those abusers. And expecting an abuse victim to absorb the abuse from specific male people.

I mean, imagine coming onto a feminist board and thinking it is appropriate to denounce a woman for not giving my preferred charity any more money than she gives them every year!

And feeling righteous about it.

As we observed over the last 24 hours from the person GOGC (rather inadvisedly) tried to send a supportive message to, there are men who cannot or will not read things women write or listen to things women say. The reason they are so offended by JKR is that her fame means her female bat-squeaks get amplified by the media. How dare she speak her mind.

Anyhow, it's obviously JKR's fault that I planted Alexanders five years ago and have consequently spent weeks this summer digging all the bastard seedlings up in the hope of reclaiming space for my cyclamens. She could actually have given us proper herbology advice instead of those stories.

I agree with you however that starting the new thread was not a good idea by the poster who chose to do that instead of using the Private Message function and I reported the thread that was deleted earlier before it turned into a complete shit show.

Anyway JKR is completely to blame for the fact that I've not washed the dishes today. I'm not sure how she's to blame yet but I'm sure she is to blame.

Most of the JKR haters are just projecting their disappointment they didn't get a Hogwarts letter aged 11.

Most of them hate her without reading what she's posted so can't be about that. Plus they've found a new imaginary cause.

I'm the chap. Possibly foolishly, I tried to help someone to see that acceptance of physical reality is not only sensible in the short term, but essential to good mental health in the long term, not realising how my action could be (mis)interpreted. I also didn't realise that such a thread was against MN rules; I started it because I was unable to post on the previous thread which was full; I do not think my post would have been deleted from that thread. I now understand why they didn't like the thread being directed towards him, and I accept their action in deleting it, and will not repeat my mistake.

It is not that I disapprove of him "living an experience", but that he is on a path which is very unlikely to lead to a healthy fulfilled life. If he is a victim, he is a victim of those people cheering on his focus on himself and his self-damaging actions. He will not be helped by those who encourage self-pity or introspection.
