Grayson Perry..

I’ve always had a lot of time for Grayson Perry- but I saw a couple of pictures on a thread, bizarrely enough, about Sewing Bee,of him wearing what appeared to be an erect dildo at a charity event. While I am prepared to believe anything about the behaviour of men, this does seem distinctly out of character. Is there a background story I need to know, or do I have to add him to my list of shits

Charity event for children no less.

spannasaurus · 27/08/2025 08:01

Was it this one

Grayson Perry..

Note the sign in the background.

ThePinkPoster · 27/08/2025 08:03

The man admits he wears sticky out dresses to hide his erection. He’s an AGP using women as props in his fetish. I’ve got less than no time for him.

SimoneHere · 27/08/2025 08:04

Well, he’s always been clear that he is a cross-dresser and that it’s a kink, particularly dressing like a child, and particularly shocking people.

While I applaud that he is totally honest about it, I don’t agree with people including others non consensually in their kinks.

caramac04 · 27/08/2025 08:05

What the hell? I can’t think of any public place where that dildo would be acceptable .
Why on earth would anyone accept this as suitable ‘attire’ ? Is he so famous and cool that no one will challenge him?
It would appear he is surrounded by sycophants based on my very limited knowledge. If so, shame on him and every one of them.

PurpleChrayn · 27/08/2025 08:07

Vile.

Hiding in plain sight.

Bumdrops · 27/08/2025 08:11

I listened to Kirsty Young’s young again podcast that G Perry featured on -

i thought his ‘performance’ on the podcast really showcased how vile he really is -

it sounded like Kirsty really didn’t warm to him

DeanElderberry · 27/08/2025 08:12

A person whose publicly displayed kink is about a young female child is a creep. Shame plays a useful protective function. Being an artist does not exclude an individual from their social obligations.

deadpan · 27/08/2025 08:14

I like him he seems like a nice bloke and has been honest about his cross dressing. But this was a massive no no which shouldn't have been allowed by his wife or friends or the charity never mind his own conscience.
The charity did what we all do as Brits, try to ignore it in the name of politeness. If he'd been dressed as Henry the Eighth, fair enough, but not in a "baby doll dress" as they termed them on Sewing Bee last night.
The Arts and Entertainment worlds have no filters. They need to realise that not everything can be excused by eccentricity.

CurlewKate · 27/08/2025 08:17

To be honest, I assumed it must be a photomanip or AI-it seemed so contrary to what I previously thought about him….

I don't think its out of character.
I also have no time for him. He's a craven coward. He could have made all the difference in the debate around gender with his longstanding cross dressing and his high profile, especially in the art world. He chose not to and in fact rode the wave for his own purposes.

DeanElderberry · 27/08/2025 08:19

The arts and entertainment worlds are used to remove society's filters and taboos, quite cynically because sex sells, and the more kinks can be removed from the 'forbidden' category the more money the mega-pimps can make.

Charabanc · 27/08/2025 08:19

As a PP said, hiding in plain site. It's not "out of character" for him. He's just got bored with being accepted and is pushing the lines of transgression. It's what they do.

Yes. He is at least honest about being an AGP ans 100% male, and I did rather like him getting his OBE from Prince Charles dressed like a mother of the bride. But using an unconsenting public for his fetish isnt Ok and that charity outfit was completely inappropriate and unacceptable.

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 27/08/2025 08:21

He's revolting. I think he said in one interview that the more unacceptable the setting the greater the thrill (I'm paraphrasing) but the frilly skirts are useful
When you really think about what he is admitting and the places he wears the dresses it is vile

RandomlyGeneratedTriad · 27/08/2025 08:23

Is there evidence that the dildo really was there, rather than being photoshopped in?

(Either way, I agree with other posters that his honesty about the kink makes him less extremely misogynistic than other crossdressers but still in the wrong for co-opting us all into his exhibitionistic little-girl fetich,

He's a dick - plastic and organic (probably ceramic too).

Davros · 27/08/2025 08:23

I used to love him, I genuinely like his art. But now I realise how revolting he is, totally unacceptable

Coffeeishot · 27/08/2025 08:23

He is a creepy fecker fetish in plain sight and applauded.as art and expression of. Again a creepy fecker!

DeanElderberry · 27/08/2025 08:26

His 'honesty' aka making people hear/read about his nasty creepy fetish does not make it less nasty and creepy.

ItsCoolForCats · 27/08/2025 08:27

I read his autobiography a while ago, and yes, it is a fetish, which he is very open about. The suggestion is that some of his behaviour stems from childhood trauma.

And he doesn't cross dress as a woman, he cross dresses as a little girl, which is even more ick. The only thing he has going in his favour is that he doesn't access women's spaces, which given the climate of the last decade or so, he probably would have been lauded for doing and told how brave he was.

His wife is the psychotherapist Philippa Perry. I wonder what her thoughts are on men accessing women's single sex spaces?

‘While I applaud that he is totally honest about it, I don’t agree with people including others non consensually in their kinks.’

But that’s what the kink IS, the non consensual part, they get off on the reaction of people who aren’t consenting, or they wouldn’t bother.

LadyBracknellsHandbagg · 27/08/2025 08:32

He makes my flesh crawl.

Weneedmoreheretics · 27/08/2025 08:35

I personally would NOT applaud him for goodness sake! He is normalising sexual fetish/voyourestic behaviour that encourages men to do the same/act out and “go public “ to make this behave acceptable to children & the general public. Does that deserve Applause? I don’t think so!

Oh come on. Clear and incontrovertable evidence. Just look up the event!
