I really like Rylan’s presenting and disagreeing with him on something doesn’t change my view of him. A bit tired of metaphorically putting anyone who makes any statement that FWR doesn’t like in the stocks. The whole point of campaigning on structural things like the legal definition of women/ female categories should be to allow room for different views within the law, including views that the law itself may need changing.

I agree

I also agree with Coatsoff42

and maybe showing how some trans people (as there have always been people who have lived as the opposite sex) living ordinary lives, not all highly sexualised and showing us women how to be women nonsense and demanding use of our spaces

or stories about women who have lived as men as there are a few really interesting historical stories

Toseland · 20/08/2025 23:55

How much are they paying you Rylan?

Deadringer · 21/08/2025 00:00

He is only 36??? No way! Sorry not the point but I am really shocked, I thought he was much older. I think it's fine that a gay man with presumably trans friends will speak out in support of trans people but we all have our own perspective on things, as long as women are free to also have their say and are listened to it doesn't matter what he thinks.

DramaLlamacchiato · 21/08/2025 00:05

I like Rylan so this is disappointing

GCSEs?

Is that the definition of a deep thinker now?

Ah of course, you can't be intelligent unless you have the necessary certificates.
I know many smart people who left school without A levels. People who went to uni used to be very much in the minority, not that long ago.

Enough4me · 21/08/2025 00:24

It's disappointing but, like all men, he doesn't have the female lived experience to know the threat certain males pose.
In his ignorance, surrounded by wealth, he is even further from the people who are most affected by the gender cult lies.
He'll never be in a changing room, ward, loo, prison, need intimate care and be faced with being female having a male invade the space.
He's privileged so thinks he's being nice to people with needs, missing the point that their needs aren't accessing opposite sex spaces but in getting healthcare to resolve dysphoria.

I haven't been able to move past Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie using a surrogate to have twins. I only found out after I bought her long awaited new novel.
Its ridiculous how let down and devestated I am by her decision to exploit another woman this way. I really looked up to her and I am finding it impossible to reconcile her feminist writings & speeches, with her decision to exploit a surrogate.

Same. That was really, really shocking, tbh. Surrogacy is so disgusting, and to think Adichie would do this as opposed to critique it made me lose a great deal of respect for her. Actually, I lost all of it.

Yes, I felt the same. V disappointed ☹️.

I'm disappointed but unsurprised given his social circle. He wouldn't be able to continue to do Eurovision if he didn't come out fawning eventually. I'm surprised it's taken this long tbh. (It's interesting he's held out this long)

The thing I am waiting for him to really disappoint me on is buying a baby (I believe he broke up with his ex over the subject). But he hasn't yet, so...

Eurovision is very interesting when it comes to focusing on trans people and all of the (perfectly justifiable) mass publicity surrounding their achievement, considering that, of the last 27 winners, no fewer than 3 of them have come under the trans+ umbrella (trans, drag queen and non-binary).

Are 1 in 9 people in everyday life across the whole of Europe trans?!

SnowFrogJelly · 21/08/2025 00:48

ninjahamster · 20/08/2025 16:22

I think he is totally right.

Me too

SnowFrogJelly · 21/08/2025 00:52

sanityisamyth · 20/08/2025 23:35

He’s as thick as two short planks. I love radio 2 but I put my own music on when he’s doing his programme.

Wow so judgy and harsh

WimbledonWhites · 21/08/2025 01:07

I think he just doesn’t understand the issues. He’s another one who thinks if we just got to know some trans people we’d change our minds. He’s very close with his mum though, I wonder what his response would be if she was on a ward with a TW and didn’t want to be.

All being men. So 1 in 4.5 men.

NerrSnerr · 21/08/2025 03:45

One thing pretty disappointing on this thread is how may people have commented on his looks as a reason to not like him.

He seems like a good bloke, especially how he supported Lucy Spraggon.

StMarie4me · 21/08/2025 04:01

myplace · 20/08/2025 16:27

Isn’t he very close to his Nan? He needs a little think about who he wants doing her intimate care, or on her hospital ward.

WTAF?! Are you…. Are you suggesting that any carers, female, male, trans, are SEXUALISING ELDERLY CARE???

Wow. That’s a new low on here. Thought I’d seen all the twisted hate I could, on here, but wow.

Sexualising care. Just wow.

Are you being deliberately obtuse? The point is that women in hospital and other care settings want the choice of wanting to be cared for by people of the same sex.

To be fair, as non binary means not confirming to gender stereotypes, I’d say nearly 100% of people are non binary so we’re all under the trans umberella. So yay!

I read that some gay men don’t really like? Get? Understand? Women (apart from his mum I guess!)

And what’s the betting Rylan has never for one second considered including transmen in his dating pool? Ally on the streets, TERF in the sheets as they say.

Have you ever read news stories about care workers assaulting patients?

Predators exist in every walk of life, and will gravitate towards roles.that afford them opportunities to access vulnerable people.

Wait til you hear about priests.

Not saying that’s not the case. But when someone is accused of not being “a deep thinker”, to cone back with “but they’ve got GCSEs” as if it’s proof that they are…

I know, scandalous. Imagine being insistent about who cares for elderly women. Imagine having safeguarding standards.

You know that thing about being ‘tHe MosT vUlneRable’? Guess what? It’s not trans people.

JoyDivision79 · 21/08/2025 06:59

WhereYouLeftIt · 20/08/2025 16:38

An extract from that Independent article:

"At the Scottish TV event, the BBC Radio 2 presenter spoke to actor Russell Tovey and the two reflected on their respective experiences growing up gay in Essex.

Speaking about a nightclub he would go to as a young man, Tovey said: “It was a really important safe space, which I didn’t realise at the time how important that was.

“And now you hear about so many safe spaces disappearing for so many queer people, and the importance of that, of somewhere where you can relax and be amongst the people who understand you.
“The disappearances of those is dangerous.” "

So they get the concept of 'safe spaces', and how important they are. But apparently they are only important for "queer people". They just don't get that women need safe spaces too, and those safe spaces are male-free.

Unbe-fucking-leivable.

Even I didn't get this. I would have said yaaay, go Rylan just over a year ago.

I have friends the same. Successful and educated. I don't quite know how it has come to this. Mimsnet helped educate me and change my view dramatically.

I'm reading a great book by Doyle ATM ' The End of Woke '. It's explaining a lot regards this cultural shift we have and celebrity virtue signalling celebrity nonsense.

I like Rylan. I don't think he's stupid but he doesn't appear the brightest spark. In his TV role and sleb status, he probably only socialises with BeKind types, the ' progressive ' new age youth as they think they are and never encounters the women who have been impacted already by the trans nonsense.

NeelyOHara · 21/08/2025 07:12

He cheated on his husband, but somehow came out the victim. He also claims Katie Price is a great mum.
