What he's witnessing is a mass wave of material reality.

toastedbreadcrumbs · 20/08/2025 16:18

Never liked him, always thought there was something 'off' about him.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 20/08/2025 16:20

He never has come across as a "deep thinker", has he?

SquishedMallow · 20/08/2025 16:21

We live (and created it unfortunately) a very tribal society now. The rainbow shouties and the rest of us. Rainbow shouties are now trying to get black and brown and disabled people in their gang too. Why exactly, I've no idea. Last I checked none of those characteristics had anything to do with sexuality? So I suppose RC is just sticking up for 'his' gang. We just need the stick up for women and children too.

ninjahamster · 20/08/2025 16:22

I think he is totally right.

Lottapianos · 20/08/2025 16:24

Oh Rylan 🤦🏻‍♂️ I'm a big fan of his, he's a great presenter and seems like a genuinely lovely bloke. Being really honest though, he's a gay man - women having access to single sex spaces is probably not particularly on his radar, and he can afford to keep it all 'live and let live' and lovey dovey

Not excusing him btw, I'm really disappointed that he doesn't seem to be considering women's POV

Chocolatecoveredshitpig · 20/08/2025 16:26

He actually went to an excellent state school and has something like 12 GCSEs, (according to his book). I think he plays up to the thicko image, while being pretty sharp underneath.

Absentmindedsmile · 20/08/2025 16:26

Oh no. I thought Rylan had brains.

Cosmosforbreakfast · 20/08/2025 16:26

I liked Rylan. I'm very disappointed to see him jumping on the Trans bandwagon. I don't think he needs to do that, he's very successful and shouldn't need a publicity nudge. He's gone from being an entertaining presenter to just another man trying to trample all over women's rights. Sad to see it. I suppose the JKR bashing will be next.

myplace · 20/08/2025 16:27

Isn’t he very close to his Nan? He needs a little think about who he wants doing her intimate care, or on her hospital ward.

Lottapianos · 20/08/2025 16:27

The irony in that article of Russell Tovey talking about how gay nightclubs were a 'safe space' for him growing up!

Absentmindedsmile · 20/08/2025 16:27

Who is ‘totally right’? And about what?

Safety for gay men is obviously paramount for Russell, clearly he doesn’t care about safety for women.

MorrisseysMisery · 20/08/2025 16:31

I personally find him to be a very sanitised, robotics looking and over-camp. It seems to have worked for him though as he's forever on mindless panel shows or doing silly TV presenting.
His beard, moustache and teeth appear to be mathematically arranged.
I wondered how long it would be until he discovered a new campaign like this.
He will get a few column inches then fade into the background like all the others do.
I'm sure he's a perfectly nice man, but I wouldn't ask him "What is a woman".

Sorry for rambling I've just had a colonoscopy and strong painkillers. It may be making me sound weird.
The colonoscopy was more fun than watching Rylan.

Well the post is about Rylan and him saying we need more representation of trans people so I’m not quite sure what you don’t understand about my response

MorrisseysMisery · 20/08/2025 16:33

Anyway there is quite enough Trans Awareness to be seen. Whatever next then Rylan?

I love him too. Dazzling personality !

But, truth be told, I really don't think gay men (as a group generalisation) care much for women. They have little 'use' to them, put crudely. So I doubt women's rights have much impact on their conscience.

SquishedMallow · 20/08/2025 16:35

LadyBracknellsHandbagg · 20/08/2025 16:29

RedToothBrush · 20/08/2025 16:36

I'm disappointed but unsurprised given his social circle. He wouldn't be able to continue to do Eurovision if he didn't come out fawning eventually. I'm surprised it's taken this long tbh. (It's interesting he's held out this long)

The thing I am waiting for him to really disappoint me on is buying a baby (I believe he broke up with his ex over the subject). But he hasn't yet, so...

Helleofabore · 20/08/2025 16:36

Maybe Rylan is saying this because he realises that the more stories the less people support male people accessing female single sex provisions. But he doesn't want to say that. What he wants is to let Operation: Let them speak! work for itself.

WhereYouLeftIt · 20/08/2025 16:38

An extract from that Independent article:

"At the Scottish TV event, the BBC Radio 2 presenter spoke to actor Russell Tovey and the two reflected on their respective experiences growing up gay in Essex.

Speaking about a nightclub he would go to as a young man, Tovey said: “It was a really important safe space, which I didn’t realise at the time how important that was.

“And now you hear about so many safe spaces disappearing for so many queer people, and the importance of that, of somewhere where you can relax and be amongst the people who understand you.
“The disappearances of those is dangerous.” "

So they get the concept of 'safe spaces', and how important they are. But apparently they are only important for "queer people". They just don't get that women need safe spaces too, and those safe spaces are male-free.

Unbe-fucking-leivable.

I wanted You to outline exactly what you meant. Clarity.

Gay men, like straight men, are a mixture of misogynists and non-misogynists.

They need nothing from us. Except when they want to rent a womb. Then when they need us they suddenly understand biology and know what a woman is.

Not all gay men, obviously before people start clutching pearls and fake tits.

I agree. Even their female friends they call "bitches" and "hags" and feel it's ok to say vaginas are disgusting and make them vom.

Yeh yeh not all ... Blah blah... We know.
