If you don't think she is please don’t post. Please can you tell me specifically what she has said or done that is so bad. I promise that I will listen and not argue. If you could include links that would be great. If your inclination is to assume that I’m posting in bad faith and any reasonably well informed person must be stupid or bigoted not to know, then please just let the thread die.

I don’t think she’s as awful as a lot of people seem to.

I just think it’s kind of sad. She has so much money, and she spends all her time on such a minuscule issue compared to what the country is facing. She could do so much good for the nation, and she won’t.

I’m hoping, genuinely, to understand. Because, genuinely, I don’t.

I will bite. I dont like her because she comes across as she thinks her opinions are worth more because she is rich and a successful author. Compare her tosomebody like Val Mcdermid who comes over as a really down to earth and nice person. . That hasn't got an inflated ego because of success.

She could be addressing things like child poverty, she could be helping people like Marcus rashford did. I just find it all quite sad that the elite in this country focus on the divisive rhetoric rather than actually trying to improve things.

But do you understand that you have started a thread inviting only views from those who are likely inclined to abuse her? Ie. no balancing posts because you stated you don’t want to those who don’t believe she is ‘awful’ to post.

Okay. You don’t need to be, because I hold my beliefs and you hold yours. For what it’s worth, I don’t know where I sit on the entire trans thing but I think I lean more towards the views held on this board. I just find it sad when anyone with great wealth becomes like this.

I really suggest you read more deeply about her charities and what other charities she contributes financially to.

I never said she was embarrassing. Other people have labelled me as that.

I saw a really good post on here a few weeks ago about how there are much, much more pressing issues facing us. Our NHS being stripped, children living in poverty, the cost of living crisis. Things like trans people, the “boat people” etc are used by politicians as a diversion tactic to hide that they’re not doing anything to address the actual issues.

I hate that I’m not JKR. Does that count?

All global royalties for The Cuckoo’s Calling were donated to The Army Benevolent Fund.

She set up the charity Lumos, giving about £60m.

So I think you can disagree with her views on some things. But she has given a lot to charity. Forbes estimated about £200m in donations across various charities.
