It sounds like the book is as bad as we all thought it was going to be, I'm gratefully for JKR for taking one for the team and reading the big pile of tripe, so I don't have to. (Not that I was anyway, I can't stand the her.) 😂

LadyBracknellsHandbagg · 14/08/2025 20:08

JKR knocking it out of the park again, reducing this mediocre woman to exactly what she is, a Wannabe. Sturgeon is predictably like a lot of politicians, in that she’s a raging narcissist, her self regard is hilarious. No doubt she surrounds herself with ‘yes’ people, who benefit from toadying up to her, but in reality, she’s no different from Trump. She believes in absolutely nothing, except what could further her career at any given moment. I wouldn’t trust her as far as I could throw her. May she disappear up her own backside and into obscurity pronto.

What a brilliant, beautifully written review. Dripping with sarcasm, but making serious points. Jo Rowling, we love you!

hholiday · 14/08/2025 20:12

This absolutely sums it up - all privileged women in positions of power who have supported this dangerous nonsense and thrown their sisters under the bus should read and absorb: The First Minister, with her police protection, her carefully monitored official residence and her chauffeured car just couldn’t see what these bigots were making a fuss about

UnpaintedLily · 14/08/2025 20:24

Would never have read Sturgeon's book; enjoyed JKR's review.

It still makes me angry that the woman who has done so much to tear down women's hard-won rights has the gall to claim to be a feminist, but it's absolutely in keeping with her role as chief cheerleader for the supposedly 'progressive' brand of identity politics.

BundleBoogie · 14/08/2025 20:24

That’s a thing of beauty. I wasn’t going to read the book as I have no interest in NS congratulating herself but I did enjoy JKRs writing.

DuesToTheDirt · 14/08/2025 20:24

When asked on television whether bald, blonde wig-wearing Bryson was a man or a woman, the First Minister... made herself look – and forgive me for employing a PR term here – a complete fuckwit.

Redshoeblueshoe · 14/08/2025 20:29

I enjoyed that. Thanks for posting.

Theswiveleyeballsinthesky · 14/08/2025 20:37

Hahaha that was brilliant and as Alex Massie noted - dropped just in time for tomorrows papers (if they could be arsed to cover it of course....)

JustSpeculation · 14/08/2025 20:45

Pertinent. But I was expecting much more swearing.

Marylou62 · 14/08/2025 20:51

Thank you for posting this... and if you are reading this JK..thank you for publishing this review..

SerendipityJane · 14/08/2025 20:54

That deserves to be quoted 200 years from now. It's a work of genius.

mrshoho · 14/08/2025 20:58

Wow! JKR has delivered! Absolutely nailed it. Thank you for this work of brilliance.

quantumbutterfly · 14/08/2025 20:58

😂Whimsically scathing.

HermioneWeasley · 14/08/2025 21:00

I LOVE the Twilight comparison - it’s wonderfully insulting to a political biography. Genius.

ExitPursuedByABare · 14/08/2025 21:00

Shameless placemarking so I can read later.

I LOVE the Twilight comparison - it’s wonderfully insulting to a political biography. Genius.

Oh that was just the start ... the subtle way she started talking about a fictional character being (more) well rounded than the author of the book under review had me in pieces.

CaptainCarrotsBigSword · 14/08/2025 21:08

Brilliant; thanks for posting!

menopausalmare · 14/08/2025 21:15

A big fat cigar and a double whiskey for JKR. 👌

CorvusPurpureus · 14/08/2025 21:16

There are people I happily piss off, & invite to do their worst.

Then there's JKR.

I wouldn't fuck about with her, honestly, if she stole my sun lounger or cultivated leylandii up my fence or turned up at my wedding dressed as Miss Havisham. She's waaaaaay too smart.

That was a jolly enjoyable read!

Igmum · 14/08/2025 21:24

Thanks Toots, I came on here to post this but thought someone might beat me to it. Quite fancy reading the Twilight series now 🧛

healthybychristmas · 14/08/2025 21:30

That was a really fantastic read. Thank you so much J. K. Rowling for reading that pile of shit so that we don't have to.

slet · 14/08/2025 21:34

Excoriating, razor sharp and brilliant. Did we expect anything less from our Queen JKR?

BlueOceanFish · 14/08/2025 21:38

She’s just so professional in her put downs.

It’s almost like she is a professional writer.

Brilliant

nocoolnamesleft · 14/08/2025 21:39

Oh, that review is a thing of beauty. Genuine laugh out loud moments.
