NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #44

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and was expected to last 2 weeks. However, after 2 weeks it was not complete and it adjourned part-heard. It resumed on 16 July and the last day of evidence had been intended to be 28 July with 2 days of submissions from counsel meaning that the hearing was to have ended on 30 July. However, it became apparent as the hearing progressed that this schedule wouldn't be followed.

The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton gave evidence from Thursday 6 February to Wednesday 12 February.

Everyone now seems to be assuming that the Lindsay of the messages is the same person as the Lindsey who is to witness tomorrow, but when I suggested that earlier, I became convinced that that's unlikely. Has there been new information in the meantime?

It’s MC for the cross on Tuesday but she was supposed to finish on Friday so has she pushed Tuesdays witnesses along?

J says it could run until Thursday. Rather selfishly hoping NC can do her summing up on Thursday as I’m off work.

Cheese scones are lovely

Scones are just flour, a raising agent, butter, a little milk. Anything else is superfluous.

Best scones I ever made was when I turned a tub of cream into butter and butter milk and used both in the scones. They were divine!

From the messages in the Tweets it's clear that NHS Fife are continuing with their smear campaign. They can't show that any sort of fair process was followed, not any substantive patient safety concerns, and so the only tactic left in the playbook is to smear, presumably to try to minimise any sort of payout.

It's just so pathetic and embarrassing.

Lindsay and Fiona are both nurses - probably know SP a lot better than the consultants we have heard from so far. I suspect it will be largely about what a meany she is. Not really sure what else they can say.

Ha! You've never been to Northern Ireland then, you'd be hard pushed to find a plain scone over here. Raspberry and white chocolate, pear and almond, cinnamon and apple, we put all sorts in them and they're generally about 3 times the size of the ones you get in England.

It has started to get a bit out of hand now though - the mint aero scones in our local farm shop cafe are a step too far!

The screen shots about this Lindsey are too small for me to read. I would suspect that if they are critical of Sandie, which I assume they are if Fife called them, then this would feel much more of a betrayal than the comments and smears made by the Consultants.

Sorry, I have managed to see it on twitter. She's never met Beth. Sandie had. I wonder if this Lindsey would like to see Beth in the changing room. I hope that Naomi pulls her to pieces.

Well this will be interesting. Have Fife called Lindsay because she will give evidence to say that SP was making homophobic posts on Facebook? I'm surprised they have persisted with this because SP was cleared of misconduct already, so what these witnesses add to the ET isn't obvious to me at this point? I hope that fact is put to these people on the stand
