‘[Owen] seems to be upset because she had a chuckle about his erratic behaviour on Piers Morgan Uncensored last week. In response to an X user who wondered if Jones might have partaken of the white stuff before fidgeting and gurning his way through Morgan’s show, Rowling tweeted: “Well, he is known as Talcum X.”

Jones is hopping mad. He’s even written a 1,300-word screed on what a rotter Rowling is, which I’m sure we can all agree is a perfectly normal response to a woman making a joke.’

😂😂 and also 🤮🤢

I used to listen to him.a lot,.and found him thought provoking in many ways. I really struggle with him now though. He's a little deluded.

'a little'

I agree, so many thoughts provoked.

Thoughts like “Why is this little man so angry at women who don’t do what he tells them?”

Or “What relevance does this sanctimonious blowhard’s opinion have on anything?”

And “Having listened to him for at least a minute, where has my will to live gone?”

His book from ages ago about the working class and how they've been (mis)portrayed in the media was good and insightful for its time. Now there is loads of chatter about "the White working class have been locked/ignored for too long" (ironically by the same columnists/papers that did the mocking/ignoring) but I'm the early 2000s it was quite ahead of the curve.

Did that make you feel better?

Wasn't it Julie Bindel who coined the moniker Talcum X ?

I thought it was Suzanne Moore, but it might have been Julie.

It does seem that he started off with fairly reasonable and sometimes thought provoking views. And on some occasions I admire him for sticking to his principles.

However, he suffers from self righteousness that means he falls far too often into self justification fallacies. In particular, he genuinely seems to despise women, and struggles to conceal the fact.

That sounds exactly like Moore. 🤣

He's had to turn himself into clickbait on YouTube. This plays into that, totally. Another man using JKR for their own purposes.

He's the Katie Hopkins of the Left and has monetised it.

That's why he's a screaming bellend. He's made it his brand.

The idea of LOJ having to eat a kangaroo's arsehole or whatever it is they do to the "celebs" is quite entertaining Grin

Depends if you're watching or eating.

He actually speaks a lot of sense and has consistently spoken out about the genocidal intent of Israel. Truth is JK Rowling hasn’t spoken out about the genocide and is clearly irritated that he called her out.

When the modern state of Israel was founded there were about 40,000 Muslims (mostly Arab Muslims) living there. Today it's about 2 million. Some genocide, very successful.

Let's talk Hamas though. Since they took over Gaza they've been the beneficiaries of $ billions of UN funding and support. One of their head honchos Ismail Haniyeh has personal wealth of c $4 billion. And yet they deliberately impoverish and immiserate their people. Now THAT sounds more like 'genocide'.

And what do Hamas say about Jewish people? In 2019, senior Hamas official Fathi Hamad said: "You have Jews everywhere and we must attack every Jew on the globe by way of slaughter and killing." Sounds quite genocidal, no?

In 2023 senior Hamas official Hamad al-Regeb said: "Bring annihilation on the Jews. Paralyse them. Destroy their entity." Six months later he would mastermind the 7 October massacre.

Yeah, that sounds more like genocide to me.

Quite.

‘Released on August 18, 1988, the [HAMAS] original covenant spells out clearly Hamas’s genocidal intentions.

The most relevant of the document’s 36 articles can be summarised as falling within four main themes:

  • The complete destruction of Israel as an essential condition for the liberation Palestine and the establishment of a theocratic state based on Islamic law (Sharia),
  • The need for both unrestrained and unceasing holy war (jihad) to attain the above objective,
  • The deliberate disdain for, and dismissal of, any negotiated resolution or political settlement of Jewish and Muslim claims to the Holy Land, and
  • The reinforcement of historical anti-Semitic tropes and calumnies married to sinister conspiracy theories.’

Understanding Hamas’s Genocidal Ideology

A close read of Hamas’s founding documents clearly shows its intentions.

What makes you think it’s “lefties”? Ireland (to take one example) is run by a centre-right coalition government which considers Israel to be commiting genocide. Now of course there are other terrible things happening in the world, but it’s a bit weird to get angry about people protesting against a government committing genocide. And I’m sure the vast majority of those people do actually have other concerns in their lives. A two line tweet of condemnation takes twenty seconds, not twenty hours.

Edited

I don't think Ireland might be best placed to opine on the meaning and substance of 'genocide' given that they sent Admiral Doenitz official commiserations on the death of Adolf Hitler, and flew the flag over the Irish Parliament building at half mast out of respect to the fallen, genocidal Nazi leader.

I wonder if Owen Jones and Stephen Fry are friends? Would their hatred of women be more binding than their social class differences are dividing?
