Mumsnet Obsession With Penises

My controversial opinion is that most of the Mums who obsess here over penises, uteruses and chromosomes, would pick more important and interesting topics if their own child was trans.

I was just going to post about them! 😂

When I was a kid we used to have Lamb's Fries (testicles) and Lamb's Sweetbreads (pancreas) fried in breadcrumbs. Ages since I've had any. Very nice!

My mum (not in the UK) used to make sweetbreads (which I thought was thymus but I googled and it can be both) in Madeira and it was delicious. A hotel in Denmark where I was staying last year had them as a starter in their restaurant, so good.

The origin of this post is that Mumsnet users were asked to share a controversial opinion.

This opinion has been reinforced beyond my wildest dreams.

Clearly this is a forum for mothers who've never loved and cared for a trans person. Or are able, even, to comprehend what that entails.

Too bigoted to understand that no, we don't all look and feel the same; yes, throughout history people's childhoods have been blighted by gender dysphoria and that: yes, it's a real, actual, come-by-it-honestly thing.

"Its absurd! It's made up! It's ideology! We cannot imagine it and we've never seen it so it must be a plot!"

Go back to your Daily Mail: I'm done.

No curry recipe but our local turkish shop stocks lamb's testicles - here's a tagine recipe if you fancy:

I tried some at a BBQ and didn't take to the texture. Brilliant talking point tho - the crowd was divided 50/50 on who was even prepared to try. And 100% of males winced

Interesting - given how many male young mammals are gelded young unless they are being kept intact as breeding stock,I wonder if lamb testicle stew might be considered vegetarian?

MsPug · 01/07/2025 08:03

@RedToothBrush tory Fanta? Do you mean round your house? Or round your way? I never knew a drink could guess a political viewpoint! Only the classic taste one though not the new one with sweeteners that ones vile 🤣

DeanElderberry · 01/07/2025 08:08

I'm amazed there's any eating in lamb's testicles. In the days when I walked over sheep fields they tended to be sealed off with tight rubber bands when the animals were tiny, and atrophied and dropped off after a few days.

Ram testicles now - there used to be a woolly chap in the village who sought comfort by backing up to a farm gate and dangling his impressive scrotum over one of the lower bars - presumably taking the weight off was an ease. It wasn't a pretty sight, but it was undeniably impressive. In its way.

You're not beating the penis-obsession allegations with this response, whatabout-ism at it's finest.

Round our way. Not my house.

Basically cos it's posh lemonade that the middle classes drink I think is the logic.

I can't really say it any better than the mighty LangCleg (before my time but should be lauded to the skies for her prescient posts)

Too bigoted to understand that no, we don't all look and feel the same; yes, throughout history people's childhoods have been blighted by gender dysphoria and that: yes, it's a real, actual, come-by-it-honestly thing.

Again, we know that. We were the generation who fought to get into male jobs, who had crew cuts, wore DMs, jeans and went to stag dos of our male friends and not the hen dos of their partners [well, I did].

We also know, that cutting someone's body parts off or giving them drugs that will permanently change their body and make them lifelong patients, bringing forward issues and diseases not usually seen until middle age, just because they 'don't feel the same' is NOT the answer.

We also know that MEN WHO SAY THEY NEED TO SEE GIRLS GETTING UNDRESSED are not the good guys.

And we also know that Anorexia wasn't a thing, it was a very, very rare disease until it was all over the world news and then outbreaks happened wherever it had been seen shortly afterwards. We know that girls are prone to these highly influencial trends, indeed psychologsts the world over knew but were still referring girls to the gender clinics instead of saying 'No'. Mainly because the girls all had their scripts ready to threaten suicide after getting them handed to them online. And would report them if they didn't.

We are so past caring that you call us 'bigots' for wanting kids to get to adulthood unharmed. We've had it for years and years. Whatever.

The13thFairy · 01/07/2025 10:32

". . . rapist who 'pretended to be trans' and raped women in a prison: not trans." My dear, let me introduce you to a concept - that of self ID. It's not called what other people think of me ID. This line of thinking is a cornerstone of trans ideology - if a man says he's trans, then he's trans. And you are being transphobic for stating that he's not.

JohnsShirt · 01/07/2025 10:43

Yep, that's what they want.
Self ID, acceptance without exception, no debate.

I still make a Malay fruit and meat curry, based on my dad's recipe from the Dark Ages (the 70s). Looking at the recipe now, it is clearly an adaptation of a Malay recipe (his dad was in the Navy, so they were stationed abroad during dad's childhood), and uses the ingredients they could get hold of in the UK in the 60s, when dad first made it. It has apples, marmalade, tomato ketchup and sultanas in it, amongst other things! It's a very nostalgic recipe for me, because I remember my dad making it for us, but I am sure that real curry afficionados would faint in horror at it!

When dh makes it, he sometimes put sliced banana in it, if we've got any that are too ripe for me to eat - and it is delicious.

I doubt @Manfreglory is still reading, but I would be fascinated to know why they think that a woman who has consented to see A penis (that of her partner/husband), has automatically consented to see EVERY penis, even if they are attached to complete strangers. Does @Manfreglory not understand the concept of consent? Do they think that, if they consent to have sex with one person, that consent automatically means they have consented to have sex with anyone who demands it, even total strangers? I doubt it.

EdithStourton · 01/07/2025 11:23

The urge to snatch the catering back from DH's grasp and make a curry is getting ever stronger...

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 01/07/2025 11:25

Resistance is futile, @EdithStourton!

That's tiny baby lambs. The lambs we eat will be about a year old.

But as pointed out, this conversation, and the one about currying genitalia, is doing nothing to dispel the idea we are all obsessed with penises. Alas.

If we're not clutching pearls, we're currying testicles.

ArabellaScott · 01/07/2025 11:32

Also this is making me think of the method of telling the time by lifting a donkey's balls.

Yes, but the safest and most pain-free castration and tail docking has to be done before 7 days. Unless an animal is being raised for breeding there is nothing to be gained from retaining the nuts.

If the chap is used for breeding the hormones will make his meat taste bad.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 01/07/2025 12:32

Better than clutching testicles and currying pearls, @ArabellaScott.

ArabellaScott · 01/07/2025 12:37

Donkey balls.
