Ignorance of anything is never a fully acceptable excuse in a liberal society.
People are capable of going out and educating themselves and understanding principles of rights and wrongs. We live in an international world now. Canada can't say it believes in free speech principles and also prevent discussion of this subject. If Canada wishes to go down this route, it would quickly have to adopt draconian policies that are more at home in China, North Korea and Russia.
"I was just following orders" is not an adequate defence in international criminal courts which Canada recognise and respects.
This is precisely we can right say that this is scary levels authoritarian bullshit that should be resisted by the UK in order to stop us turning into cultlike muppets who blindly follow what we are told in an unthinking way.
Canada, can get in the bin with its homophobic, sexist regressive bullshit. Sex is real. This is the UK and this is a UK forum subject to UK laws. If Canadians don't want to read i t, they don't have to come here. If Canadians have a problem with MN they can start putting up the Great Firewall of Canada at their own expense and admit they have become an Authoritarian State. Given Canada's own identity as a liberal country and issues with its big neighbour this would be quite the thing to do... I can see attempts to do so lasting all of about five seconds and thats WITHOUT consideration of who the current US President is.
The idea that Canadians can be THIS indoctrined, without it being an active choice at some level, is absolute nonsense. ESPECIALLY, when you've actively managed to find, log in, post on MN to do some scolding of the Nasty Evil Women and read the replies of the women (and men) here.
No, posters who do that, do so because they don't value debate. They do so because they value themselves and their own identity above the subject matter. They don't WANT to engage. They get off, on trying to 'punish' or 'show up' posters here. Thats why they are Bad Faith posters. They don't want to deal with the difficult questions.
