Women who work in male prisons may have to strip search male prisoners anyway e.g emergency situations. I dont think the possibility of the odd transwoman in a female prison needing strip searched is going to put off women pursuing a career in the prison service.

If they have male genitalia they go to male prisons now. It's all done on a case by case basis.

Female prisons are for Females, if you put males in them, they they cease to be Female prisons but mixed sex prisons. Its that simple, there really isn't any room for arguments.

If it’s easier to remember Trans Identifying Male (TIM) can be used instead of trans woman for a biological male. And Trans Identifying Female (TIF) for biological female/trans man…. Confusing! But using TIM and TIF is clearer in line with biological sex and is easier for others to understand

We already have something for everyone, Male prisons for Males and Female Prisons for Females, at least we did until the prison service started sticking males in female prisons, which is against the law by the way.

We just want it put back to the way it should be, even women who have committed crimes have right's, placing males in prisons with them is violation of their rights.

So you think a man will have his balls and penis mutilated just on the off chance that if he goes to prison he can go into a female prison? You don't think the decision will be based on pretty much everything but that.

Very fortunately indeed, hardly any males have this brutal surgery, which has a high risk of infection and doesn't produce anything comparable to female genitalia. As I understand, a high proportion of male prisoners who have a trans identity only declare this after they are charged or even imprisoned. Some of them may be sincere, but given that quite a number of them are registered sex offenders, there has to be a suspicion that some of them were trying it on in the hope of getting a cushier option than male prison, ready access to vulnerable women and also putting female prison officers in an uncomfortable position.

Female prison. She was made to do an observation on a trans-identified male inmate who had recently been transferred to the women’s prison. It ended up being a 12 hour shift where she had to watch CCTV and record when he ate, used the loo and masterbated. He apparently did the latter a lot. There wasn’t a male officer available because it was a female prison.

Well yes. All females whatever they have done to their genitalia will be in the female prison and all males whatever they have done to their genitals will be in the male prison. Simple and elegant solution all round

Fucking Hell. That is one of the grimmest questions I have read. You have women locked up with a male and you can't imagine that there might be coercive control or other factors that render the idea of 'consensual' in that situation to be completely flawed.

Yes the ones trying it on only declare they identify as trans after committing a crime and being charged. A man who at some point in his life had his penis and balls cut off did that for his own very personal reasons, not on the off chance that in the future he may commit a crime that would see him going to prison. With the new rules a man simply announcing they identify as trans will still go to a male prison.

Have you interviewed the women? Your just going to assume its impossible for a woman to want sex whilst locked up for years. Not all women are victims in this world.

What a very unfortunate set of circumstances! Prison work can be tough. Same with being in the police force or other emergency services, if you have suffered in life you may encounter something which triggers you.
