India not happy with JKR drawing a line. Very aggressive.

Jo, you are bitter and twisted. A modern-day Miss Havisham. Bought court. You know it - I know it. I will always be more of a woman than you. The way you and your ghastly gang pretend to be the voice of all women is disgusting. And a joke. Along with the fact your daily sick bullying of women is completely ignored by UK media. You represent the Gender Critical movement - not women. I hope your boat sinks. Go fuck yourself. Trash.

JKR posted today about an article where a female prisoner describes her trauma at having to share facilities with a male prisoner. IW called her views bigoted.

Link to article if anyone wants to read it.

Yippee a chance to wheel out my Man With Two Brains name.😁

You are much braver than me in trying to spell that surname ( even though "Of course, how else would it be spelled?" )
Whenever I try and pronounce that character's name I get stuck in a loop going round and round the UulMelmaMelmaMelmeMelma bit and find it difficult to get out of the word, so I don't ever try :)

I Love people's username references here on MN. @LadyBracknellsHandbagg is a personal favourite. Even the two gs at the end is not a mistake. It's a second reference to the way Edith Evans exclaimed "A handbagggggggg!" in a performance so legendary it intimidates all who have played Lady Bracknell since.

Hmmm, lots of comments deleted, Jonathan must have a sore finger from reporting all the posts, he's really a very sad little man. So bitter and angry at women just because he will never be a woman, the harder he tries the more male his behaviour is.

@mintbru ah yes, just a thought, could have been posts breaching the TOU and Justine's moderation principles for discussions around gender identity and sex.

To be fair (though I hate doing it) if some of the USA continues to hold by the daffy "one drop rule" doctrine, anyone with any black ancestry at all has the right to think of him- or herself as black. Who's to say that Rachel Dolezal wasn't descended, via her white European ancestors, from a member of a Roman legion who was recruited in North Africa and then retired and married in one of the European countries? All his descendents would count as black, by that rule.

Her strange behaviour might have marginally more basis in her country's doctrines than that of a man asserting that he is a woman. Not that I think she ever thought of using that as the basis for her claim, but still.

No, I mean that if you say "Why can't someone identify as a different race/black then?" they refuse to engage because apparently that is completely different and a tired, transphobic trope to use.

Okaaaaay 😬

I think what I was pointing out is that she had some justification on her side, however tenuous, whereas they.....

So it is different. Just not the way they'd like it to be.

Men always think they can do everything better than women. They always think they are smarter than us, better than us, can do everything better than us including be a woman better than us. It's a very Male Pattern Aggression trait. It's how we know they are male.

@BunfightBetty "JKR has not been punching down. She has been punching up. Women are the oppressed class. Men (of which India is one) are the oppressor class."

It hinges on how you choose to see India - Unpleasant, yes, nasty, certerainly, vicious and the rest.

But I won't deny her the agency of choosing her own identity.

If you see her as a woman, her own description and choice, then Rowling's (and others) comments are punching down. TRANS people are currently very much oppressed.

JKR could have chosen a different path. God knows she has the resources. She didn't, and the image of a rich, powerful person lashing out on a vulnerable person, no matter what the provocation, is abhorrent.

However, now she reaps the harvest of own her sowing - widespread oprobium and mockery. Where once she stood tall and bright as a princess of prose now she is mocked, derided and rejected.

A shame, a shame on her and those that parrot her opressive views.

Oh what a lot of rubbish. Transwomen as males are not 'oppressed'. Strange how 1% have had such extraordinary power that we've had society turned upside down, our language re-defined - women and girls called 'menstruators', 'bleeders', and 'uterus havers', we have had intact males in women and girls changing rooms and stealing the sports scholarships, awards and places of women and girls. And, males in rape crisis centres sitting in on women's trauma literally grinning at hearing the stories. NEVER before has such a tiny minority had such overreaching POWER. Never. Gay men never had this power. Not even so-called 'c1s' men. Transwomen are at the top of the totem pole higher than 'c1s' men. Never has a group had more power than this "1%". They are incredibly dangerously powerful; they are the single most powerful, most privileged, most protected Sacred Caste. The reason for that? It is PATRIARCHY PERSONIFIED for this century.

That policy might need updating now after the SC judgement, e.g.:

so we’ll usually delete collective terms for trans people which centre on natal sex.

you can't get more centred on natal sex than calling all transwomen men / all transmen women - as per the judgement!

Good point. The policy name needs updated too - that's always irked me as it should read 'sex and gender discussion policy'.

More likely the whirring overhead buzz of the misogynistic monitors drone -

'INDIA IS A CUNTY TYPE LADY!!! SAY IT OR BE DELETED!!!'

(watch your eyes though, the sunlight is glinting off all the gender wang flag badges precariously attached to the drone).

Brilliant post!

If there's a 'who is the most woman?' competition I nominate the Traveller woman who settled in the next village who had had 20 children. Though even my great-grandmother, with 13, should get some kind of award.

There was a thread the other day where the individual who had come along as haranguer-of-the-day provided us with their qualifications. Allegedly.

Isn’t it odd how women don’t seem to feel the need to provide their CV when discussing keeping women’s spaces for females?

What were his qualifications? I want to know what exams need to be passed to be able to say that men aren't women.

Jonathan, born to a woman and father of a son, says he more of a woman than a woman...it's just never going to be true.
Does he really believe it or thinks he can gaslight the world?
Or just a massive attention seeker?
I wonder about his motivation?

It's confession through projection.
When people try to hurt other people with words there's an unconcious bias that we use the words and themes that hurt us the most. The reasoning being what hurts us must hurt others as much as it hurts us.
Trying to make being a woman a comparative competitive about how much of a woman someone is, when it's actually binary, you're either a woman or you're not a woman, tells us what's going on inside. He's convinced himself he's a woman/female but there's this gnawing doubt inside him that's he's not as much as woman as a real woman, and he resents that a lot. It's probably the inner wellspring of his unhappiness that manifests in his poor behaviour. There's all these women who didn't have to do anything to become women, they were just women from the start. He's undergone so much to try to become a woman, put soo much effort into becoming a "woman", and he's not getting acceptance and validation from women who put absolutely no effort into becoming a woman. That's where the comparative "more of a woman" comes from, the effort he's put in. He's put in more effort = more of a woman than a woman who put no effort into becoming a woman.

you appear a little upset. foot-stampy, even.

take a breath, read it again, this time with a wider lens, possibly including a sprinkling of humanity and think back at the history of what we endured as women to reach where we are today.
You, and others, destroy our legacy by applying the same oppression that was used against us, now to another group of people. Becasue thas what TRANS are in the end: people. like you, like me. imperfect people trying to find the best way to live, according to their experience.
Who are we to police them?
