India not happy with JKR drawing a line. Very aggressive.

Jo, you are bitter and twisted. A modern-day Miss Havisham. Bought court. You know it - I know it. I will always be more of a woman than you. The way you and your ghastly gang pretend to be the voice of all women is disgusting. And a joke. Along with the fact your daily sick bullying of women is completely ignored by UK media. You represent the Gender Critical movement - not women. I hope your boat sinks. Go fuck yourself. Trash.

I think the problem is that people expect great things and extreme tolerance from good people (and especially from good women). Any step away from 'extremely lovely' is taken to be intolerant hatred.

Noone expects India to be nice, so probably just not hitting people is seen as 'nice enough'.

Those are not very nice comments, though, are they? Why does he get a free pass for stupid twittering and women don't?

I haven't suggested he does get a 'free pass'. His conduct is inexcusable.

JustBitetheKnotsOff · 21/05/2025 13:04

No, you didn't -- I misread it.

Maybe you could ask a woman to explain it to you, pet.

dont know much about India but JKR has long been recognised as nasty, nasty person, bitter, unpleasant and highly intolerant of others.
sadly a few people cant see that.
she's done lasting damage to the cause of women everywhere, sowing division, and hate.
As a feminist I reject her and call on women everywhere to shun her toxic opinions.

Good of you to join us India.

"Even if I were completely indifferent to India, it's not too difficult to see that the crap levelled at her online and the very personal comments made about what a terrible person she is are completely disproportionate to anything she's ever said or done.
Some people may be easily-led to the point of following the prevailing winds, but you can't fool all the people all of the time."

Thank you for eloquently making my point!

I love that you think this makes your point, when I'm afraid it does quite the opposite... This line in particular "completely disproportionate to anything she's ever said or done" whilst sat alongside India's frothing posts where she is raging, wishing death on people, and saying all the awful things that are, quite frankly, very proprtionate to people 'levelling crap' at her online. Whereas, I doubt you will be able to find examples of JKR saying anything that would warrant the death and rape threats to her and her family that she recieves.

I completely disagree with you.

India Willoughby is vile and sounds increasingly unhinged.

JKR is a public benefactor and gives voice to the thoughts of many, many women who agree with her totally but fear speaking out publicly because they are worried about being targeted by intolerant bigots - I’m talking about the intolerant trans supporters who would prefer women not to be allowed to say things they, the TRAs, disagree with.

JKR has done no damage at all to the cause of women. On the contrary.

Interesting that this entire thread is basically set up as a JKR v India venting, quite missing the point that by doing this everyone is pulling down to the same level.

India's comments are disgusting - So too are some of JKR's.

Does that make India worse than JKR? or JKR better?

I'ts like watching a pair of piglets fighting... One may start off cleaner than the other but they both get covered in mud.
It's hard to tell one from another at the end.

Anyone? Anyone.....? Bueller?

If everyone were to endure the nastiness they wished onto others, I think JKR would be be pretty much unscathed.

India however would have died, suffered injury and unpleasantness, many times over. Hopefully India identifies as a cat and will survive the ill they’ve wished onto others.

Quite. Apart from his constant attacks on women, didn't India say Iive on national TV, that we should put barbed wire in the Channel to drown migrants? Lovely bloke.

It's dead simple. If it's all so dreadful, don't get involved.

India has "biological woman" in his Twitter bio. (Even though he fathered a child…)

Which just goes to show that he’s utterly clueless about basic biology - which I’m afraid to say is probably also true of the majority of the population.

@1MnaAthCliath you are entitled to your opinion, however I would suggest the great majority support and thank her for the work and support she has given to her fellow women.

She has recognised how badly men are imposed on women’s safe places and fought hard, just look Berias Place,

I think she’s wonderful and am thankful people like her are standing up for women

I've never read a single word of JKR's books, so I only know her for how bravely - and wittily! - she has stood up against the misogyny of trans campaigners, for the philanthropic way she shares her millions, and for the fact that she has received so many death and rape threats that she would, as she put it herself, paper her house with them'. And I imagine it's a biiig house.

I only know IW for saying eejity things with no foundation in fact. He may have done as many good things as JKR, but I don't think so.

So if I'm picking a piglet on merit in your imagined piglet fight 1MnaAthCliath, it's gwan JKR, hon the women!Grin

You frame this as ‘missing the point’ and by doing so miss the point yourself that the ‘point’ you reference is merely a point to you, not the point.

I don’t agree with your framing. India is clearly quite malignant and possibly quite unwell. JKR has fought for women’s rights at a time when they were under threat in a manner not seen for decades. That she was able to do so is down to her character and the fact she has a level of established wealth no amount of bullying or threat could jeopardise. She has spoked up for and defended many of us who have been bullied into silence through threat of job and income loss. This should never have been the case in an advanced democracy, and it is quite disgraceful and disgusting that this has been the position we have been put in.

JKR has not been punching down. She has been punching up. Women are the oppressed class. Men (of which India is one) are the oppressor class.

The fact that JKR has only been able to speak up publicly because of her unusual wealth does not turn her into an oppressor and India into the oppressed.

Have a think about the reasons why JKR has been a stand out voice and why other women have been forced into silence.

Sounds like the school playground.

NoFineBalance · 21/05/2025 14:48

India's use of his not inconsiderable media platform, media that has very much been in the thrall of trans activism and guaranteed to give him special victim status, is not someone who is being punched down upon. He is the one punching down at de-plaformed/cancelled/ignored women. JKR is merely giving us women a voice. Which she didn't have to do, and as a once feted lefty, has done so to her cost. And she has been incredibly patient. Now she appears to have no more fucks to give in the face of this continued male bleating, slander and threats of violence. And good on her for not sitting in silence, but facing it off with intelligent reposte and a bit of blunt humour. Women have had enough of this shit.

WallaceinAnderland · 21/05/2025 14:48

India's X bio is literally that game where you have to say one true fact about yourself and two falsehoods.

'Biological Woman. Trans. Broadcaster.'

ThatCyanCat · 21/05/2025 14:50

JKR is punching down in the sense that these people can't even begin to match her intelligence and social conscience, so they'll always lose in an actual discussion. She's absolutely punching up in the sense that their stupidity, obtuseness, narcissism and dishonesty didn't stop them from capturing all institutions and so they absolutely had clout to match and exceed hers. They lost anyway.
