Greens internal drama warms up

New long article looking at the drama inside the Greens over biology suddenly existing again despite their best efforts.

How the Green Party forgot the environment and was torn apart by trans rows
It was a party united by a single mission – to save the planet. But now the gender identity debate has left it divided and in chaos

https://archive.is/TOlNx

The article is already out of date as Zack Polanski of hypnotic breasts fame has just launched a leadership bid against Deyner and Ramsey.

Emma Bateman
It's no secret that big boobs Polanski wants the top job. He is a student politics slogan churner, a self server who distains women and wants misgendering misdemeanours to be grounds for expulsion from the Greens.
He is "LGB with the T"
Still NO DEBATE!

Pro-women Greens article on his background:;
https://concernedgreens.uk/watchlist/zack-polanski/

The existence of biology is likely to be a significant part of the leadership contest for sure so interesting to watch .

Ali Shahrar has launched another legal challenge against the Greens. Gardening needed.

May 27th is the date for Emma Bateman's legal hearing against the Greens.

On May 27th I am in court against Green Party in a case which will expose the contorted lengths the Greens go to in order to shut women up.

It isn't going to go well for the Greens given the Supreme Court ruling. This could be key moment in seeing the ruling's effect on politics and directly impact the leadership contest. It will also be probably be infuriating and hilarious in equal measure.

'A woman has been blocked by Bristol city council from asking Green Party leaders whether “predatory men” could enter single-sex female spaces by posing as trans women.
Helen, a university academic in the city, submitted a question to ask at the full council meeting on Tuesday evening but was told it was “offensive” and would not be allowed.
Bristol city council, led by the Green Party, has criticised the Supreme Court ruling in April that the words “woman” and “man” in the Equality Act refer to sex at birth.
The council has been openly aligned with trans activists since it passed a motion in July 2022 to “recognise and affirm trans men are men, trans women are women” and pledged <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.ph/o/cKCVX/www.thetimes.com/uk/scotland/article/councillors-consider-cuts-to-service-not-supporting-trans-women-qmzxfv82g" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">not to take advice from or award contracts “to organisations that promote an anti-trans agenda or propaganda”.'

The ongoing sexist horror from the Bristol Greens has its own thread, but there is a further dimension
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5438742-bristol-city-council-again-ban-on-asking-about-predatory-men-in-single-sex-spaces

We all remember how Deputy Green leader Ali Mothin has got into trouble for celebrating the start of the genocidal violence carried out by Hamas on October 7th which started more war.

Well it seems the Bristol Greens were doing something similar two Green councilors Mohamed Makawi and Abdul Malik were also under investigation for social media posts after October 7th before they were even elected.

Green Party responds to ‘ill-judged’ and ‘offensive’ anti-Semitic posts by candidate

https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/green-party-responds-ill-judged-9257165

Malik is still in trouble as chair of the Easton Jamia Masjid mosque and has been suspended. The guy is also a councillor. He previously had previously served as a Liberal Democrat candidate just like the Boob whisperer.

Leading councillor suspended as chair of mosque as Charity Commission investigates Hamas video
Cllr Malik described the suspension as 'an administrative process'
https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/leading-councillor-suspended-chair-mosque-10617531

This was not the only crazy thing that happened in 2023 that is when* Easton Jamia Masjid mosque discovered women were a thing. They even gave them a much smaller separate space in the Mosque which Malik said was "pushing the boundaries a bit"*.

Bristol mosque opens space for women in time for Eid
Published 2 July 2023

Members of the mosque are particularly proud to show off their new "Sister's Space", where women can go to pray.
"There was a lot of demand that we need to open up a space that was dedicated to the sisters and children," said Abdul Malik, chair of Easton Jamia Mosque.
"There are a lot of people who want to use the mosque who maybe don't want to come to the men's section."
In Islam, there is no obligation for women to pray in congregation and Mr Malik said opening this space was "pushing the boundaries a bit".
"But we feel that as a mosque, if there is the demand, of course we should accommodate that," he added.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-66081691

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the Bristol Greens position that the existence of women is so confusing and uncertain you have to walk out if someone mentions it and that having separate spaces for women is wrong.

It is almost as if this is all SEXIST crap because you all think women are inferior and should be quiet. Or am I missing something here?

Meanwhile Malik celebrates the flying of trans flags: Today I have submitted a statement to Full Council calling for the flags of Palestine 🇵🇸 and Kashmir 🇵🇰 to be flown outside City Hall, alongside the flags we already raise for Pride, Trans rights, and Black History Month.

Flying the Kashmiri flag too?

India and Pakistan are involved in a conflict with each other in Kashmir

  • Pahalgam attack: A militant attack in April 2025 killed 26 tourists in the Indian-administered town of Pahalgam, prompting new tensions.
  • Military escalation: India blamed Pakistan-based groups for the attack and launched missile strikes in May 2025, which were met with a retaliatory operation from Pakistan, leading to a temporary ceasefire on May 10.
  • Suspended agreements: Following the April 2025 attack, India closed its border with Pakistan, stopped bilateral tradebefore a ceasefire was announced.
  • International involvement: Diplomatic efforts were made by the UK and other international actors to de-escalate the situation, though the UK government maintained that it is for India and Pakistan to find a long-term solution.

Azaad Kashmir (ie Pakistani held Kashmir) is also the location of Mirpur.

Which people in Britain know for lots of unfortunate reasons

ArabellaScott · 07/11/2025 10:38

Since when were councils used as means to signal involvement in international geopolitics ffs?!

I'm sure we all await the Councillors' statement in what they intend to do to broker peace in Sudan. After they've sorted out bin collections and library opening times.

Lalgarh · 07/11/2025 10:48

Btw, Zack Polanski is supposed to be a guest on Have I Got News For You tonight, but apparently he's dropped out in favour of Lewis Goodall ( ex newsnight, News Agents podcast).

Last week they had former Labour transport sec Louise Haigh on and she was trying to style out the stuff about her insurance "misclaim" but it was excruciating

SionnachRuadh · 07/11/2025 12:15

I haven't watched for years, and the politicians seem to have got far more humourless in the meantime. Louise Haigh is one of the more human Labour MPs, so that tells you something.

I suppose there's always David Lammy, who seems to be in the cabinet purely for his comedy value.

NasturtiumsAreUnderrated · 07/11/2025 13:53

Compare and contrast the indulgence extended to Lammy - hey at least he's good comedy value - with the appalling abuse heaped on Abbott.

(Robert Peston dropped a very heavy hint that Lammy was regarded by the FO as lazy and clueless because he enjoyed lapping up plaudits he hadn't really earned and didn't do much at all; with Abbott everyone always leapt straight to stupidity - a less remediable failing - if she faltered. He's a bit of a chancer, but she's just thick...)

SionnachRuadh · 07/11/2025 14:09

Oh, I don't disagree with that. Labour in particular have always underestimated what a sharp operator Abbott is.

Having said that, I'd prefer to deal with Lammy just because he's much more personally pleasant. Having him in the FO wasn't an entirely daft idea because he's good at exuding warmth and making friends. And he's not an unintelligent man when he makes the effort.

Yes, he's prone to brain farts, but he's not notably more gaffe prone than say Lucy Powell.

Zak picked his side and it's the side of Isla Bryson, Beth Upton, rose Henderson, Karen white. He couldn't give a stuff about women - but then neither does the last leg

Lalgarh · 07/11/2025 22:21

He's just scored his first whoop whoop round of applause for saying tax the rich in response to something.

Zack profiled in this week's Spectator:
Is Zack Polanski our Zohran Mamdani? | The Spectator

There's a funny thing I'm noticing from following local council by-elections. Sometimes isolated results can tell a story, e.g. there were a couple in Burnley this week that were won handily by Gaza Independents with Reform a strong second, and Labour a distant third in what were safe Labour wards a few years ago. That gives a snapshot of certain places in East Lancashire.

But you learn more by taking time, over months or years, to spot the direction of travel, how the Lib Dems are doing in Surrey, or Plaid in Cardiff, or whatever.

I'm not yet seeing any sign of a Polanski surge in those local results to mirror the national polling. Caveats here, it's early days yet, there haven't been many by-elections in London or university towns. Green candidates seem to be doing well in areas where the party already has councillors - but what I'm not seeing is a general uptick in the Green vote outside of the strongholds, 20% votes in wards where you might expect 10%, that kind of thing.

I suspect there's a sort of Corbyn effect of Zack appealing very strongly to people who are inclined to vote Green anyway, but without expanding the base much. But we will see.

Agreed. The local election win stats few as they are are not showing a Green surge yet at all. Reform is really seeing gains.

https://electionmaps.uk/byelections-since-le2025

The May elections will really show if Hypno is delivering. The surge in members will help financially, but will they campaign?

I think the Greens also have a BIG Lib Dem problem in some areas.

Moreover there will be more political coverage in general. This could benefit Greens or hinder them. Another issue is they are relying on young voters who are fickle. I also think ZP's rhetoric could trigger extra voters for the right. We shall see. However I think Labour will get a hammering it remains to be seen who gains the most.

@fromorbit Reform regularly 'underperformed' its national VI in council and parliamentary byelections until relatively recently. I don't follow council elections closely and I'm not a fan of generalising from them for all the obvious reasons, so I don't have any real hypothesis for this...

What I would like to know is whether financial constraints as a consequence of legal expenses have compelled GPEW not to contest some of these byelections. I can't be bothered to faff about doing a proper comparison though - partly because I suspect the results would be inconclusive.

I would imagine Green voters are very concentrated in certain areas (Bristol, Brighton, Nottingham etc) rather than having as much of a geographical spread as Reform voters do.

We’ve just had a local council by election and someone posted on a local forum that they didn’t want the Greens to get in because the new leader is “scary”! There was no evidence of any sort of Green surge.

He managed to swerve the question on why as a green he's opposed to nuclear power if we need to reduce carbon emissions. That clip on the green party tweet also excluded his answer on legalising cannabis even though it got the standard round of applause.

not at all surprised Novara supporting ZP. They know Your Party is busted behind its even started and atm ZP is getting loads of friendly coverage because the media are delighted to have someone willing to shoot his mouth off. I'm expecting the times to do one of their in-depth interviews for the Saturday or Sunday magazine complete with styled photos very soon

Polanski seems to be basing his entire platform on 'tax multi billionaires'. It's appealingly simple - suggests that if we only made the decision to do so, everything would be easily fixed. Painless! Sorted! Free money for everyone!

Why on earth has nobody thought of this before?
