Welcome all. The booze here is minimally intoxicating, the food is calorie free and the staff are warm and cuddly. And if the thread title sounds nonsensical, blame the guy Myrtle was listening to this evening!

It is officially summer!

The salad is now on the menu.

Five of my last six dinners have been salads. Wednesday's was sausages. 12 of them.

It averages out, I assume!

I don't have the energy for a Rosy hug so I'm just going to snuggle up next to Giant Wombat if that's ok? Keep the hot chocolate coming please.

A question does wild garlic make ones breath garlicky.

the reason i ask is me and DH have been munching away on our wild garlic (short season)

Just saw this on X.😂Thought of putting it on Feminism: Chat but couldn't be arsed with the menz who occasionally visit that board.

That is so DH. Can find pubs and petrol stations in towns he doesn't know, but ask him to get the canteen of cutlery out of the cupboard...
Which cupboard?
In the dining room, perchance?
Oh, that cupboard... I can't see it... where is it... it's not here... I've looked everywhere...

MIDDLE SHELF

<Bellows Edith, off-stage>
No, it's not!
<enter Edith, enraged>
Here, you bloody numpty. Under the Monopoly box! At eye level!
How was I supposed to find it under that - I couldn't see it!
It was at EYE LEVEL.

I do sometimes wonder why I'm married.

In other news, we walked SIL so hard and fast today that she ran out of breath. We had the wind and birdsong most of the time. Result.

EdithStourton · 17/05/2025 20:54

Also, aren't we running out of thread?

About 40 to go. Probably should be thinking about moving on but I’m liable to fade out soon.

If you use the scientific name, Aquilegia, you're referring to the resemblance of the spurs of the flowers to eagles' claws.

But if you call them Columbines you are noticing the way the flower looks like a group of five little doves, cleverly sharing just five 'wings' between them.

claws or doves, you decide

in any case, have nothing to do with old lady headgear

Thank you Deano, that was so informative and also very ...poetic with all the similes and imagery and things💚

Ditto. I'm knackered!
DH is already asleep.

I can start a new one.

That would be fab, thank you.

Oh thank goodness! Trying to not slope off as it seems a little early, but you know what..
thank goodness there are lovely bedrooms upstairs at the blue stocking, beds made up with ironed soft duvets, gorgeous scented stuff, and little enameled boxes full of the most delicate iced biscuits. Gosh, someone’s already run the bath and laid out beautiful ironed, silk floatiness.

Swashbuckled · 17/05/2025 21:16

Thank you @MarieDeGournay. I shall look into it. That garden bed has dropped right to the bottom of the list now, what with the stressful project. I shall be guns blazing on the SP for the next few weekends (and maybe more).

Me and the hound spent the day at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, with a friend. It was lovely. We were mostly outside, walking, but I did take a photo of one bit of inside exhibition. I didn’t take any more after that as was just enjoying the moment. The lake was lovely in the sun.

I’ve been munching on lots and lots of wild garlic for a few weeks now. It’s much milder than normal garlic.

I’m not a good person to ask about the smell. I eat lots of (normal) garlic every day, raw and cooked, but then I don’t closely breathe on anyone really. The hound has never flinched though, if that helps.

Swashbuckled · 17/05/2025 21:22

Thanks @FlowerUser .

Do we finish this one first, so we don’t get separated?

Yes, we’ll start rounding up the gerbils on the buses and locking the doors.

It’s a bit tricky on a Saturday night, as we don’t want to stop any carousing, so you can be part of the welcoming committee on the new thread, to keep the party going if you like ❤️

ifIwerenotanandroid · 17/05/2025 21:26

Thanks, Fleur-de-Lion. I suppose I'll have to pack up my laboratory again. I've only just got the er... well... experiments to settle.

Swashbuckled · 17/05/2025 21:28

I always feel strangely moved when we prepare to go to a new thread. It’s something about (maybe) the end of term, and the start of a new term happening all at once. That’s the only comparison I can think of.

I’ve arranged a low-loader for you to move the lab wholesale. Hopefully it will mean minimal disruption.

Somebody give the AI a kick, would you? Left side, towards the base. That's where the text program runs.

There is an image awaiting approval. Odd as normally they’re approved pretty fast.
