Welcome all. The booze here is minimally intoxicating, the food is calorie free and the staff are warm and cuddly. And if the thread title sounds nonsensical, blame the guy Myrtle was listening to this evening!

<unloads secret Tunnock's stash>

I mean the gerbils suitcases!!

The gerbils seem to have gone for very unusual suitcases, Boily. No doubt this is merely to make them easier to spot on luggage carousels?

I’ve brought Colin and checked the cellars for Ghost Ship supplies.

It's the YTS gerbils, they don't earn enough to be able to afford actual suitcases and are forced to use empty Tunnock's boxes.

(No one is falling for this are they!)

In a word, no. Sorry Boily!

Right, having done the hard work of starting the next thread, I'm going to delegate Rosy to welcome new arrivals so I can go to bed. Night all!

Gerbils, goats and micro pigs all accounted for. I think.

Shoulda spotted this thread before plopping on the previous one!

Hope the gerbils have managed to find all the scrabble tiles after their altercation last week and that the barman has finally ordered in some marmalade gin!!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 01/05/2025 22:45

Ohhh what an excellent name, @Magpiecomplex! Myrtle’s suffering was not in vain.

Boiledbeetle · 01/05/2025 23:37

Last thread locked up and sign on door. I think everyone had vacated the premises but I'll be honest I was to busy rounding up poor forgotten lonely Tunnock's teacakes to notice!

MarieDeGournay · 01/05/2025 23:38

Thank you for the new thread, Magpie. Doesn't time fly between new threads?

I popped in too late to enjoy Myrtle's 'livestreaming' of a man being a pretentious bore at a nearby table, as it happened.
It was awful for you to have to put up with that on your evening out, but you turned it into comedy gold for usSmile
What a good idea to check in with his companion and what a relief that they are Only Good Friends so she isn't committed to putting up with him longterm😒

lcakethereforeIam · 01/05/2025 23:38

I agree. Top thread naming.

I don't believe I've seen the seagulls for a thread or two. I'm assuming the dwarf flying squirrels were packed up with the library.

I thought you were packing up the library?

I think the seagulls have gone into witness protection, something to do with life insurance fraud.

@MyrtleLion wrote, a long time ago (this afternoon)
The neighbours have commented on our "canopy" - summer parasol that is movable and adjustable. Nice to have a bit of garden envy since the decking is rotten and the weeds are growing through the gravel.
It will be changed to a patio soon. Hopefully this summer but it will depend on me having a job or a legacy finally being paid.

Were you tempted to offer said patio construction to your neighbour at the restaurant this evening if she’d been more than ‘just good friends’ with her companion?

I imagine a group from The Bluestocking might have volunteered to help. Not our beloved waitstaff, though, I don’t imagine them as construction crew. Unless AI can show I’m mistaken?

Boiledbeetle · 02/05/2025 00:17

The capybaras are quite into DIY! I'm sure they'd relish relaying a patio

Can we trust the capybaras not to investigate if their freshly prepared base layer for the patio becomes a bit bumpy overnight?

Will they build a beautifully flat patio on top of it, and say nothing to any outside visitors?

Thought I'd do a little image of Myrtle's ordeal, but the AI spent an entire hour pretending it could do the image I wanted and then not managing it. Good grief look at the time!
Anyway, here is the immortal image we wanted to see...

Oh, here you all are.
Sorry for bringing a work-related question to this space but it's where all the AI experts hang out: is there an easy and free AI tool that can increase the dpi in an existing image? Even just a little bit?

MarieDeGournay · 02/05/2025 09:41

I've embarrassed myself in the past by bounding up to someone in the Bluestocking and saying Hello! Lovely to see a new face! Haven't seen you here before! Welcome! only to find out I was completely wrong and that they'd been practically born and reared in the place😳

So <tentatively> - have we met before FlowerUser?

<Feck that doesn't work either because if she is a regular, I've just informed her that she is totally forgettable😬Quick rethink..>

If there are any newcomers to the Bluestocking here today, may I say how lovely it would be to see them and how welcome they would be if they were new here..

Quick, gerbils -I need a double brandy please!😰

lcakethereforeIam · 02/05/2025 09:57

I've spent the night at the old thread putting books in boxes. The capybara helped me bring them to the new thread. The squirrels everyone might be indifferent pleased to hear e'nt dead. In fact they woke up, glanced at the calendar, said 'shit! It's May! We've overslept!' and started helping.

If anyone wants me I'll be asleep in a hammock in the shade of the willows by the river whose name I've forgotten. After I've finished this late breakfast. Bar gerbil? Give the capybara anything they ask for on my tab.
