I question the motives when the first - massively long - post is all about how some protesters are using stupid messages and then there’s a p.s. acknowledging that the majority of trans people and their allies do not support this nonsense.
Mass protests always attract nutters. Nature of the beast. It doesn’t mean trans people don’t have genuine reasons to challenge the unnecessary aggression coming their way.

No, mass protests don't always attract nutters.

I went to a protest with over a million people in 2016 and there were zero nutters.

In what world is threatening to kill "TERFs" a reasonable response to being told that your rights don't trump women's?

And they wonder why we don't want people like that in our rape crisis groups and women's shelters?

RaininSummer · 21/04/2025 20:21

These are hilarious.

Oh but MissScarlett they aren't all like that you know!

Only some of them are murderous nutters!

🙄

The parallels with men who abuse women in relationships is so clear. She made me do it!

(And for avoidance of doubt by the hard of thinking- no, I am clearly not saying all trans women are abusers or behave like abusers. But some do. And some allies. It seems to be a feature, not a bug, of the movement overall) .

northwestgirl · 21/04/2025 20:25

they actually are, (hilarious I mean) especially the Palestinian ones

I wonder if any of them have ever met a Palestinian or indeed anyone from a non European, non white culture

Unfortunately there seems to be a very strong positive correlation between how much of a murderous nutter they are and how entitled they feel to be in women's spaces.

Which is all the more reason to say no to all of them.

aylis · 21/04/2025 20:30

In fact not even just supported by the protests - it's the whole point of them.

Liberation from the unbearable burden of a country that has bent over backwards to indulge their every whim?

👏👏👏

One struggle one fight Palestine and trans rights . Oh dear...

I haven't heard of the women of Gaza fighting for trans rights. Ever

And Keir Satermer is a wasteman.

Why are they using roadman slang?
I'm sure there aren't many of these TW in that particular community

This image was taken at Palestinian rally.

I've been going on protests since the 80s, starting with CND and anti-apartheid marches. I went to the huge anti Brexit one (after the Referendum but before we had actually left the EU). Most recently I went on the NEU march during the teachers strike, the Restore Nature Now march and the Clean Water march.

All very good natured, the banners and placards were very creative and not a nutter in sight.

None of the demos I have taken part in have called for violence against people the participants disagreed with. Nor have they involved defacing statues or pissing in public.

Somebody should ask Keir Starmer how sitting on the fence is working out for him.

😂

Long live the OmniCause.

All hail the OmniCause.

We will find salvation in the OmniCause.

That image speaks volumes. I remain convinced that they aren't wanted there but they are seen as useful idiots and make up the numbers.
I wonder how many are invited to the mosque or a family home for post-protest snacks once they've finished banging and shouting. I mean they're marching together every Saturday- it would be the polite thing to do to say thanks for their support

Are you suggesting they wear the ubiquitous keffiyeh performatively? How very dare you.
🤣

Remember the anti Iraq war marches? Biggest demos in history, iirc. Absolutely zero aggressive or inflammatory signs that I ever saw.

They were about peace. Not demands that women submit and shut up.

Most of them probably haven't met a Palestinian, but I would be astonished if they haven't met "anyone from a non European, non white culture".

Lark1ane · 21/04/2025 20:50

Thomas Rylance is very funny.
Have you seen what is written on his hand?
Does it say: Lava Mohamed Salah?

Perhaps he also collects footie cards? Does he think he will find one on a Palestian Rally 'cos everyone must have a picture of Mo on them?
(Although Mo is Egyptian, as any fule kno)
.

I did the don't attack Iraq protests.

I was alienated by the problem Palestine Trojans who were pro hamas.

It definitely was problematic for me.

I think I did two or three protests by myself (no one else I knew was interested).

It really made me question motivations.

I'm still glad I did the protests, but it was obvious to me then there was a hijacking agenda.

Sorry to suggest differently to your experience.

SameyMcNameChange · 21/04/2025 20:54

Imagine if the slogans/placards stated what they really want.

’Allow men to strip search women’
’Place rapists in female jails’
‘Let men compete in women’s sports’
’Male doctors shouldn’t need to ask for consent before intimately examining women’
’Deny disabled women same sex care’

There were a lot of pro Palestine signs left around the ones I went on - someone had left a load for people to pick up and wave.

So they got a bunch of people who probably weren't very pro Palestine (if at all) but fancied carrying a sign, who picked their signs up. Good tactic really.

Sorry, bit of a derail.

Edit typo

It's fair enough if you had a different experience! I didn't see any of that at all.

There is often reference to the fact that Stonewall was a riot when talking about protest.

It may well be true, but imho peaceful protest is far more effective in the long run.
