a list of men or companies who have stood up for us

Like so many here, I have been disheartened by the lack of support from so many famous men, those I liked and or admired are now and will forever be in my blacklist. Same for companies.
This whole experience has been so hard and I thank all the incredible women who carried on and spoke for us...
However, who are the men who were on our side? Andrew Neil? Piers Morgan? There aren't many but would love to hear some names of those who put women first...

Donald Trump (sorry!)

I was thinking of posting that but I bottled it. 🤣

I don’t precisely remember what happened, but Bird’s Eye were asked to stop advertising on Mumsnet because of ‘transphobia’ and refused.

Yes I think their response to the request was "potato".

Sorry if not been mentioned yet but some Scottish ones:-

Kevin McKenna journalist for the herald
A couple of male Scottish comedians that I'm not going to name on case they aren't officially declaring themselves but when I went to some local comedy nights they were very biting and funny about how ludicrous it all was (and happily everyone laughed).
Fergus Ewing
Murdo Fraser
Russell Findlay
Wings over Scotland
Neal hanvey
Alex massie
The late Alex salmond (though don't know if that was politically motivated)
Duncan bannatyne

This is the thing, some men stand against it primarily because it’s harmful to women’s rights and some because the ideology is just so absurd.

He literally signed several executive orders specifying among other things that there are only two sexes and banning men from women's sports.

Well, Graham Linehan of course.

Was coming on to name his as well.

He def deserves our thanks-he is fabulous and his support was at great personal and professional cost!

Orangebadger · 20/04/2025 20:45

Andy Murray has been very vocal defending women in sport.

Agreed. However although his motives are suspicious, his actions mean that American girls and women in sports, rape crisis centres, breast feeding clinics, prisons, changing rooms, domestic violence units etc etc etc, don’t have to worry about billy big dick swinging his manhood around in their spaces. At the very minimum.

So although I would rather Biden / the democrats had supported women - he / they did not. And here we are.

Much like I’d rather Labour supported women, but we all know and evidence shows, they hate women. This latest ruling is making Starmer suck his thumb, but still he’s PM, an ex barrister he knows what he needs to do.

The question is - will he confirm agreement with the Supreme Court?

I'm sure Tunnocks donated some boxes of teacakes etc to an LGB Alliance conference and then didn't back down when they were slated for it online?

Does that make up for "grab 'em by the pussy" though?

MrsMitford3 · 20/04/2025 20:50

I love Douglas Murray-I could listen to him forever

Cleebope2 · 20/04/2025 20:50

Doug Beattie Ulster Unionist MP. Stephen Nolan who led research into Stonewall

LittleBigHead · 20/04/2025 20:50

Some of the people listed have come to the cause quite recently.

So let's praise
Michael Conroy, who's been an absolute trooper on this subject for about a decade

Ed Skidelsky and the others from the Committee for Academic Freedom - not in MN purview, but quietly doing the work for the last 8 years or so.

Michael Flood

Jon Pike

And they're all on the Left (unlike Douglas Murray).

Occasionally our interests overlap. Do not mistake this for Donald Trump standing up for women.

Yes, and for some late adopters it's about self promotion or political expediency. Although I'm always happy to have more people on side, it's nice to remember the men who spoke up on principle many years ago.

Someone said Jonathan Ross stuck up for Glinner without being explicitly terfy, but actually I think he went a bit further than that.
