Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

a list of men or companies who have stood up for us

Like so many here, I have been disheartened by the lack of support from so many famous men, those I liked and or admired are now and will forever be in my blacklist. Same for companies.
This whole experience has been so hard and I thank all the incredible women who carried on and spoke for us...
However, who are the men who were on our side? Andrew Neil? Piers Morgan? There aren't many but would love to hear some names of those who put women first...

Ralph Fiennes.
Jim Broadbent
Robbie Coltrane
Helena Bonham Carter

All defended JK Rowling

I know all this sex/gender nonsense is very confusing, but I can confirm that Helena Bonham Carter is not a man.

Spineless mentions;

Steve Coogan, Brian May and Steven King all dipped their toe in and totally backtracked and crumbled cowardly at the first bit of backlash.

Oh no. Brian May crumbled? Oh no. I love him, that’s so disappointing.

What would David Bowie have done? We’ll never know.

rebmacesrevda · 20/04/2025 20:24

I don't actually want to defend him because I don't like him! But the following year he was saying no to men in women's sports, and he rejected the trans conversion therapy ban, while supporting the gay conversion therapy ban. He clearly knew the difference, which many people still don't understand. Seems as though someone educated him at some point, so maybe that person should be on the list...

😂😂

Lewis Moonie from a pretty early stage of proceedings as I recall.

YesYesAllGood · 20/04/2025 20:24

Gareth Roberts
Matthew Syed
Jordan Peterson (not a fan at all but he was amongst the first to publicly speak out about it)

teentantrums · 20/04/2025 20:25

Daley Thompson

Arran2024 · 20/04/2025 20:25

Marc Almond (though he later deleted the tweets following an outcry)

John Boyne literally peaked and switched sides and very publicly apologised to Glinner for previously arguing with him and continues to post in conversation with him and in support of women.

His apology was a masterclass in how to sincerely hold your hands up and say 'yes, I was wrong. I'm really sorry'.

If there was more of that rather than the reverse ferreting we're seeing, I'd respect the backtrackers more.

YesYesAllGood · 20/04/2025 20:25

Was there something about the makers of Tunnocks??

IButtleSir · 20/04/2025 20:27

James Essex (he has been mentioned once but his name was misspelt!)

Gareth Roberts (not mentioned so far, I think)

AnotherAngryAcademic · 20/04/2025 20:28

Harry Miller
Stuart Campbell

Æthelred · 20/04/2025 20:28

Daniel ShenSmith - the Black Belt Barrister on YouTube. Notwithstanding the irritating use of camelcaps in his surname and being a bit of a windbag who loves his own voice, he's always called out the trans ideology for what it is.

AnotherAngryAcademic · 20/04/2025 20:28

The chap behind Legal Gengar (can't remember his name!)

I seem to remember Boy George rolling his eyes at women implying what a load of fuss just to go for a wee. Correct me if i’m wrong though. I went right off him!

I saw him at a festival and walked out when he started talking about and singing the song from the Crying Game. He came across as very pro trans. He was also that set an absolute wanker to one of his female backing singers.

Ralph Fiennes

Couldn't love him more.

Gone off him again. Thank you for clarifying.

There is no evidence at all that they support women and gender critical views.

I like him, but I do get it, he's 77, had two heart attacks and a stroke, he's probably not up to the stress of it all.

But it is disappointing.

Chrysanthemum5 · 20/04/2025 20:30

Boy George was definitely not on our side

TooBigForMyBoots · 20/04/2025 20:31

Josh Howie

I don’t precisely remember what happened, but Bird’s Eye were asked to stop advertising on Mumsnet because of ‘transphobia’ and refused.

Best custard. Will buy a big pot to support them.
