a list of men or companies who have stood up for us

Like so many here, I have been disheartened by the lack of support from so many famous men, those I liked and or admired are now and will forever be in my blacklist. Same for companies.
This whole experience has been so hard and I thank all the incredible women who carried on and spoke for us...
However, who are the men who were on our side? Andrew Neil? Piers Morgan? There aren't many but would love to hear some names of those who put women first...

Best custard. Will buy a big pot to support them.

Yes! I’d forgotten this scandal. The transactivists put heavy pressure on companies to stop advertising on Mumsnet.

So, big shout-out to Justine and co, and also to Bird’s Eye and all the advertisers who resisted. Does anyone remember the other brands who stood up to the TAs? They’re going on my shopping list.

And to all the men and women named or not named on this thread, who stood up for women during this time of madness.

Thank you all! And we will undoubtedly still have need of each other as the misogynists settle in to claw back some of the privileges they’ve lost.

Does that make up for "grab 'em by the pussy" though?

Well he's a massive blowhard and that's obviously not a nice thing to say. But perhaps actions speak louder than words in this case.

Do you mean Esses?

OH MY GOODNESS I am mortified. Absolutely thought his surname was Essex. I apologise to everyone.

sunshinemode · 20/04/2025 20:55

Who is us?

elgreco · 20/04/2025 20:55

Robert Webb

rebmacesrevda · 20/04/2025 20:56

I had a quick look at Tunnocks website and it all seemed very heteronormative. Miss Glasgow (woman) wearing a Tunnocks dress, and football (mens) being sponsored. Their Gender Pay Gap report is on there, and it refers to men and women, but I didn't investigate their definitions of the words. If they are woke they've hidden it anyway!

You’re on FWR - take a wild guess!

'I love Douglas Murray-I could listen to him forever'

Me too. I don't agree with everything he says but always enjoy listening to him. I think that him and Brendan O'Neill really do understand the impact that all of this shite is having on women , and are disgusted by it. I think some men (Dawkins, the Triggernometry pair for example) aren't particularly bothered about women but just care very deeply about the truth

Didn't know that Ralph Fiennes was on the side of women with this issue. I fancy him more than ever now 😉

I'm sure Tunnocks donated some boxes of teacakes etc to an LGB Alliance conference and then didn't back down when they were slated for it online?

I have an affection for Tunnocks based on a vague memory that they were good about something terfy once, so thanks for the particulars.

I remember when then Rachel McKinnon tried to get Specialized and Garmin to disavow Kelly Holmes for speaking up for women's sports, Garmin at least just ignored him (Specialized kissed his arse).

Gansy · 20/04/2025 21:01

What an odd and random list of men.

Some wild barrel scraping for Tunnocks 😂

Good old Marilyn didn't let us down. I suspected that Boy George was on our side but didn't say anything.

Sadly, no he isn't

I was thinking of posting that but I bottled it. 🤣

🤣 Me too!!

I also thought of Professor Robert Winston but he's been deservedly mentioned many times over

TheaBrandt1 · 20/04/2025 21:05

Remember reading Ralph Fiennes remained loyal to JKR unlike those Harry Potter kids and Eddie bloody Redmayne. Dh detests him anyway and boycotts everything he is in.

DeffoNeedANameChange · 20/04/2025 21:06

Stephen Nolan
Seb Coe

Its a bit tenuous but at least we don't have to boycott them 😂

Andy Murray has been very vocal defending women in sport.

Doesn't surprise me at all. The man's a diamond who doesn't get half the respect or appreciation he should.

It's not random. The reason for their selection is right there in the OP. It could not be simpler to understand.

Let me guess, you struggle with the sex binary too?

Ugggg · 20/04/2025 21:07

rebmacesrevda · 20/04/2025 20:24

I don't actually want to defend him because I don't like him! But the following year he was saying no to men in women's sports, and he rejected the trans conversion therapy ban, while supporting the gay conversion therapy ban. He clearly knew the difference, which many people still don't understand. Seems as though someone educated him at some point, so maybe that person should be on the list...

Bizarrely I think Dominic Cummings was a voice of reason. I read he and Carrie Johnson clashed over the subject. He was meant to have said - ‘if labour want to loose votes putting rapists in women’s prisons they can, but we’re not doing’. He pulled the Tories back from Theresa Mays self ID position.. Whether it was from genuine support of political instinct I don’t know.
Another odd political input came from Tony Blair who tried to warn Labour off this subject saying don’t have an argument with JkR. Last election he warned Labour that voters vote for social issues more than was realised.

NotMyRealAccount · 20/04/2025 21:07

Mark Jenkinson, who was on the Women and Equalities Select Committee in the last government but lost his seat at the election. He let a lot of flak bounce off him on our behalf.

IainTorontoNSW · 20/04/2025 21:08

@siucra

>> Piers Morgan?

Unless you're making a list of duplicitous turds who change with the prevailing breeze, I can't think of anyone who would see any value in Piers.

He shat in his own nest at home (UK), repeated the job in USA and then proceeded to p155 on the few survivors he had left in Australia.

Notorious liar and long-time plaigiarist.

Cismyfatarse · 20/04/2025 21:08

SameyMcNameChange · 20/04/2025 20:23

I don’t precisely remember what happened, but Bird’s Eye were asked to stop advertising on Mumsnet because of ‘transphobia’ and refused.

Didn’t they just respond with “Potato”?

SerafinasGoose · 20/04/2025 21:08

Heading that list are Graham Lineham, Robert Winston and Ben Cooper.

Also:

Ricky Gervais
Rose of Dawn
John Cleese
Miranda Yardley
Simon Fanshawe

And Brandon O'Neill's recent article was inspired.

Felinnefine · 20/04/2025 21:11

Yes. Tony Blair. Knew what he was talking about. Stupid stupid Labour fools who came after him.

The GB News men unpalatable as that is to many.
