Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

a list of men or companies who have stood up for us

Like so many here, I have been disheartened by the lack of support from so many famous men, those I liked and or admired are now and will forever be in my blacklist. Same for companies.
This whole experience has been so hard and I thank all the incredible women who carried on and spoke for us...
However, who are the men who were on our side? Andrew Neil? Piers Morgan? There aren't many but would love to hear some names of those who put women first...

John Boyne literally peaked and switched sides and very publicly apologised to Glinner for previously arguing with him and continues to post in conversation with him and in support of women.

Boris Johnson!

frenchnoodle · 20/04/2025 20:06

Sort of Richard O'Brien, obviously not gender critical, but also has spoken out a few times that men can never fully be women.

Talkinpeace · 20/04/2025 20:08

Debbie Hayton has never apologised or tried to rescind the gender inclusive school guidance he issued and the way he treats his wife is vile.

siucra · 20/04/2025 20:08

When it comes to companies, it is so much easier to think of those who used terms such as birthing people or whatever the nonsense was. Was thinking today that Justine Roberts played a blinder, keeping us all going and managing it all. Remember that awful vibrator co-sponsorship on Mumsnet though? However, I doff my hat. So proud of Mumsnet and how we were all radicalised by it and by each other. Thank you to the clever and articulate women who took the time to explain and educate and therefore radicalise. We are all mighty.

Barry Mcguigan. Also, Matt le Tissier was very critical about two males being in the women's Ultimate Pool final recently.

And Jack and Clive from the Two Poofs podcast.

frenchnoodle · 20/04/2025 20:10

Spineless mentions;

Steve Coogan, Brian May and Steven King all dipped their toe in and totally backtracked and crumbled cowardly at the first bit of backlash.

Yes, Mr Menno! He’s brilliant. One of the first men who I felt saw us and understood.

England Hockey. Got there eventually.

‘Based on the current available evidence, and that hockey requires the physical capabilities of strength, endurance, speed and acceleration as key factors for success, hockey is considered a gender-affected sport.

Based on this evidence (which can be found in the policy), we have determined that the Trans and Non-Binary Participation Policy should restrict trans participation in order to secure fair competition. We are committed to supporting all affected players to ensure they find the right path for them to continue to participate in hockey.

The new Trans and Non-Binary Participation Policy has been developed to ensure everyone can participate in the playing of hockey in a fair way.

To enable this, England Hockey has created two categories of competition within hockey – a Female category and an Open category.’

The observer has also been top class on this.

Chris O'Dowd and Richard Ayoade have been supportive of Graham Linehan while not being directly terfy. Jonathan Ross also supported Graham and JK Rowling but got told off by his daughter Honey. (We've all been there)

SameyMcNameChange · 20/04/2025 20:23

I don’t precisely remember what happened, but Bird’s Eye were asked to stop advertising on Mumsnet because of ‘transphobia’ and refused.
