Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

To be annoyed by tra hyperbole around supreme court judgment

Just a bit tired of reasoned coherent argument that biological sex gives rights being met with trans people giving the impression a considered ruling clarifying existing law is somehow akin to a personal attack or the announcement of laws in 1930s Germany. So many trans people saying they are scared or fearful of 'dark days to come'.....why? It seems without counterargument tra are trying to give the vague impression of an oppressive society gradually obliterating the 'most fragile of oppressed groups'. The judgment actually reinforced general inability to discriminate for fs.

A judge has simply defined a women for the purposes of law and taken no rights away from any person but indeed reinforced existing rights for 50% of the population which was needed.

You have twisted what I say. I don’t dispute GC women have been rounded on but I don’t see it because I don’t frequent online spaces where it happens. I was talking about trans people suddenly beginning to be described as ‘disgusting’ or ‘perverts’ or ‘twisted’ or ‘rapists’ (I’ve actually seen a post on MN that says trans people are perverted rapists).

Ive never seen this level of vitriol on here before. And the fact that nobody has challenged suggests that it’s a common opinion. If such language is being used on MN, I imagine places like Twitter are a lot worse.

There are many many many examples of gender critical people having death threats. Lesbian meetings being targeted by tra's wearing balaclavas and baseball bats. Politicians photographed in front of signs saying 'death to terfs'

If you haven't seen any of it you must not be on the Internet much.

Go and screenshot the MN comment that says all trans people are perverted rapists. And the first few responses. Then post it here. I'll wait.

Does Ben Cooper get to quote those remarks about the standard of his work anywhere and any time he pleases ?

You can’t hope for better peer recognition than that.

If I was Saint Ben, I’d have that tattooed on my forehead Grin

Superb. So clever, funny and ascerbic. Thanks so much for sharing that. Made my day.

This is nonsensical.
You say that you are aware that those with GC views have been rounded on but because you don’t see it in your corner of the internet you won’t act on that.
Simultaneously you are here - in a corner of the internet where no one has called anyone a perverted rapist - and we are supposed to leap to action?
You saw a discriminatory post. Report it and get over yourself. Stop hectoring people who agree with you that discrimination is bad

hihelenhi · 19/04/2025 12:07

Yes, I'm annoyed by it. And especially the number of stupid TRAs and supposedly progressive but actually just unthinking lazy tribal "allies" who REALLY should know better & utilise their brains a little more, who are decrying it, making false claims, just as they did with the Cass Review.

Same story and usual suspects. Enablers like the Grauniad, the Independent, the Greens and misogynist union reps and anti-feminist "feminist" groups which centre men are not helping. And it is for this reason the battle is very far from over. It will take a very, very long time for this pernicious, fact-free quasi-religious (and very well funded) ideology to die and be uprooted. There are still a lot of people who sincerely think this misogynist, homophobic nonsense is somehow the "new gay rights" and anyone who questions it is somehow "far right". Pathetic and false, but unfortunately a narrative I am seeing a great deal of.

I'm still jiggling at the description of James O'Brien as a "knb jckey"

Be careful about repeating that, it's a slur used against gay men.

What an excellent point you made about terrorism. It's definition (paraphrasing from memory) is a political, ideological, or religious position, by which adherents use intimidation, threats of violence and actual violence to force the acquiescence of an opponent/s.

This is exactly what the trans extremist mob has done, in order to silence women and to make them "accept" their position.

BettyBooper · 19/04/2025 12:22

There's now a petition on X to demand the government change legislation to allow trans people to 'change their legal gender' at any age. So far 50k people have signed.

🤔

50k people who were absent the day critical thinking was taught at school. Hmm

Felinnefine · 19/04/2025 12:59

Hmm. They haven’t actually read the ruling have they. How embarrassing.

AcquadiP · 19/04/2025 13:06

At least it will keep them busy.

I find the 'if I didn't know better I'd fancy you' comment interesting

I thought men who support trans rights believe that trans women are actual women

So surely having sex with a trans woman is something they would be totally into... I mean they are women after all? Or is it that when the clothes come off and they are faced with a cock and balls or an inverted penis they come to the conclusion that a woman is more than lipstick and a dress

The forum in question is predominantly populated by men. 98% of posters are male. For some reason it also attracts a very large population of gay men.
The men who were suggesting that above " if I didn't know better" were heterosexual men who considered themselves on line buddies of this person. They all know he's male, but have taken the "be kind" route.

The gay men were the worst, in terms of personal abuse towards me......just hateful and vitriolic. I got a sense that this young man felt more validated by praise from straight men, then gay men.

He identifies himself as 'asexual' these days...though I suspect he has been struggling with his sexual orientation. There definitely seem to be elements of AGP. Being quite heavily set and over 6 foot is going to make 'passing' extremely difficult. I do often wonder at his mental state now he has put himself through the 'process'. He certainly doesn't post anywhere near as often as he used to.

Yes, what the ruling has uncovered is that there is no legal definition of what 'Gender' is actually supposed to mean. And even if there was...gender is not the same as 'Sex'

You only have to look and see women who previously would say “I’ve got nothing against trans people, I just don’t want them in my bathroom”, since the ruling are now saying “This is great! Those filthy perverts can’t rape women in bathrooms anymore”. Seeing the levels of hatred that are being spewed now some GC women feel emboldened by the ruling leaves no doubt as to why trans people must be feeling afraid.

Why would they feel afraid, unless they’re planning to ignore the ruling and continue using women’s bathrooms?

You are obviously from the US so why poke your nose into British affairs? Sort your own country out before criticising ours.

I spend hours every day on the internet but I don’t seek out trans issues so my algorithms aren’t geared up for it and I obviously miss it. Nobody should receive death threats but why do you tar all trans people with the same brush?

ThatsNotMyTeen · 19/04/2025 15:21

I think we will see some more litigation but in the longer term I think the number of trans people will dwindle. Once they realise there is no special treatment to be had any more and no perceived obligation to pander to their delusions, I think many just won’t be arsed with the pretence any more.

Disgusting comment

tobee · 19/04/2025 17:01

Well trans women are men. And so you might say "why tar all men with the same brush". And separate spaces have long existed to protect women from predatory men. There was never a problem with that before the TRA movement geared up.

Well it's largely a MRA movement so yes.

Based on footage from the Parliament Square rally thats exactly what people are intending to do.

You claimed you’d never seen “this level of vitriol here before” against trans people. Here meaning mumsnet. You’re here. You don’t need an algorithm. You were asked for screen shots - where are the examples? You’re sounding intellectually limp - evidence to back up your claims please
