Would it be too much to ask for a period of Truth and Reconciliation to be considered across all public sector organisations and the country as a whole.

In the NHS this should align with their policy of Duty and Candour. In government, this should embed their acknowledgement of the law going forward, and how it has been ignored at the expense of women and girls.

A period of Truth and Reconciliation would acknowledge the wrongdoings and the indignity, fear and trauma that has been inflicted upon women and girls during this chapter in history. It should acknowledge the injustices in sport that have had to be endured by women and girls, including to their financial detriment. It should acknowledge the psychological oppression in demanding that people believe someone is of a different sex and the impact of having to go along with a belief they don’t have. It should acknowledge, and apologise for, specific legal wrongs and their impacts upon named individuals.

But, yes; this may be a short thread.

The Scottish government in its collective and legal form was representing the trans community. Against three women. The trans community has consistently had the backing of every large public organisation in the land to unravel women's rights.

The Supreme Court doesn't hold consultations with anyone.

It's a court of appeal. It hears arguments from appellants and/or their lawyers.

This was in 2023 so before the Supreme Court ruling but, just to show anyone wavering that it can be done, Wes Streeting offered a public apology to Rosie Duffield.

I like your thinking re DoC. And I think there could be examples of notifiable safety incidents.

For those not familiar, to qualify as notifiable, an incident must be

• unintended or unexpected, and
• have occurred during a regulated activity, and
• have resulted or could result in death or severe or moderate harm. (This includes prolonged psychological harm that a service user has experienced or is likely to experience for a period of 28 days).

The tricky bit in my head is the unintended or unexpected, but if the equality impact assessment said it would all be fine, does this make it unexpected? And if it does, will there be thousands of apologies forthcoming?

There was no need to consult trans identifying people. It was not about the ‘feels’ or the ‘lived experience’ it was simply about the law.

The Scottish government only listened to trans groups when drafting the legislation. GC views were completely ignored - even though they predicted the Suprene Court ruling. Point your criticisms to the people who lied to the trans community. It’s an absolute scandal and trans people and allies should demand answers for the lies they were told
