"Trans women ARE biological women"

I see this argument and comment more and more the last few weeks and hugely over the last 3 days.

For example:

https://www.reddit.com/r/transgenderUK/comments/1k1tliv/trans_women_are_biological_women/

This statement, and the comments underneath it absolutely baffle me.

The approach, one that I am sure will only work with a minority of the people who said TWAW, is to undermine the definition of words, yet again, and deliberately cloud the water when it comes to speaking clearly and using terms that everyone agrees with

I have seen it said in more places than Reddit however, and by respected people

Gay people just wanted the same rights as everyone else. Gay marriage took nothing from anyone (communities that do not perform it still remain). Gayness is innate and requires nothing from anyone externally.

The trans lobby demands everything external to it change and be redefined to reflect its self image, as if SELF image is everyone else's responsibility. It takes away women's rights to have changing rooms, lesbian events, rape crisis services or personal care without men. It obliterates women as a sex class.

If I went into the office tomorrow and everyone had become gay overnight, I wouldn't even know unless they told me, and if they did it still wouldn't make any difference to me at all. If they had become trans in the way of the lobby's demands, then everything would have to change externally to reflect it, no matter the effect on others.

The problem is that the term trans includes every type of cross dressing fetishist, autogynephiles and common or garden perverts that like to wear a dress, so unfortunately they and the nice 'normal' trans person that many of us know and love are all lumped together. Most of us don't give a shiney shite if a 6 foot 2 bearded rugby player type wears a dress and make up, more power to his elbow, but also most of us don't want to end up in a supposedly safe place with that same person, especially if we are semi naked and vulnerable.

Where was all this mumbo jumbo about sex being an incredibly difficult concept during the zillions of years that women were being excluded from universities, government, property holding, voting and so on, and in many places still are? And how, if it's so complicated and difficult, do the TRAs know which spaces are the female ones? And how do they know, having identified these spaces, which group of people they want to sit down and shut up for which other group of people?

It’s a complete puzzle. Those isolated groups of humans who haven’t been told yet that sex is “all made up” by a middle class boy with a 3rd in Anthropology: How on earth do they work out how to keep having babies ? I don’t understand it.

You don't need to look as far as isolated groups of humans.
You only need to look at the nearest wild animals, the birds 🐦 and the bees 🐝.
Or the nearest dog 🐕 who can sniff out a bitch on heat a mile away 🥵.

Funny how they all express the pious hope that we'll all die soon and then bow out, missing the requests that they share their foolproof system for making sure women and girls aren't harmed.

It happens every. Single. Time.

Such an odd coincidence.

We've seen enough of their thoughts about this 'foolproof system' on their placards - like the one with the hangman's noose - as well as the repeated expression of the hope that all the dinosaurs will soon be extinct, to be quite clear about their views. They don't even greatly trouble to hide it.

Concerning rhetoric, to say the least. But it shows what women have been up against for the past ten years or so, and also shows alarming similarities with some of the noise coming out of the 1930s.

And they refer to GC women as 'nazis?'

CatrionasWhiskers, such a cliché. Wanders in to scold us silly, mean women with her years of lived experience as a kindness guru. But then, when asked a very pertinent question about distinguishing between the good and bad men claiming to be women, exits stage left, as we’re just all too ‘intractable’ to converse with.

It was ever thus. I left X a couple of years ago. Despite asking 100s of times nobody could ever tell me what human rights Transwomen were lacking. They also couldn’t tell me how they, as a man, could be become equivalent to me as a woman without reference to cultural stereotypes around presentation, names etc.

Their mantra of No Debate was crucial, as once you pick away at the ideology, even a tiny bit, it crumbles into the misogynistic, authoritarian garbage it is.

Gattopardo · 08/05/2025 22:18

@CatrionasWhiskers i think you’re absolutely entitled to that viewpoint and that is what your experience has taught you.

It’s not ok for me, as I’ve experienced male sexual violence and as a result I’m much, much more cautious than I’d otherwise have been of any situation where a stronger male person, by biology, might prey on a female person.

the one thing I’m sure of as a woman is that it is a really bad idea to try to tell other women how to be and feel comfy as a woman.

If I say I need single sex spaces and single sex sports, don’t tell me I’m misguided. That’s what the patriarchy has been telling us since the dawn of time.
