"Trans women ARE biological women"

I see this argument and comment more and more the last few weeks and hugely over the last 3 days.

For example:

https://www.reddit.com/r/transgenderUK/comments/1k1tliv/trans_women_are_biological_women/

This statement, and the comments underneath it absolutely baffle me.

The approach, one that I am sure will only work with a minority of the people who said TWAW, is to undermine the definition of words, yet again, and deliberately cloud the water when it comes to speaking clearly and using terms that everyone agrees with

I have seen it said in more places than Reddit however, and by respected people

Lemonz Going by Reddit..

I'd like to take a moment to salute the brave women who are making these daring sorties into Reddit territory, so the rest of us don't have to.
I can only imagine the horrors that you face there and I want you to know that your sacrifice is appreciated <uplifting music swells in background>🎖🎖🎖

SionnachRuadh · 23/04/2025 18:12

I mostly use Reddit for looking at amusing pictures of cats. Pro tip is not to go into the comments, because even the cat subs make AIBU look like the House of Lords.

I'm imagining a marching band of women playing the dambuster's theme through pretend trumpets

'All together now, duun, dun, dun, duuun dundadundun'

(Edited to add, this is in response to a previous post! I haven't (yet) lost the plot.)

RapidOnsetGenderCritic · 23/04/2025 18:43

I don't suppose it would catch on, but here's a suggestion:

  • single sex ladies as now
  • urinal (and handwash!) only
  • single toilet "gender neutral" rooms, perhaps with baby changing
  • disability equipped room

That really should cover almost everyone's needs.

Going by Reddit, they seem to think that most women don't actually value single sex spaces and once there is a third unisex space, it will be a lot more popular and the 'terfs' will then end up feeling sad and ostracised alone in our single sex spaces, unfulfilled with nobody to be cross with. While the TiMs and 'inclusive' women have a lovely party in the mixed sex loos 😆

A) I think it's very unlikely that most women would choose mixed sex over single sex in most scenarios if offered a genuine choice.

B) Personally I don't care at all where other women are getting changed or going to the toilet. It's not a bonding exercise or 'validating' for me. I'd bet a lot that this is a majority attitude.

C) The prospect of having nobody to be cross with because nobody is violating my boundaries doesn't sound bad, it sounds like a blissful relief. Crazy they think this could be a downside.

They shouldn't threaten us with a good time.

A bit of infighting here about “the trans man gotcha” https://www.reddit.com/r/transgenderUK/s/BCaItGHQM5

Jeeze. Look at that thread. The 'divine essence' of femininity is the very antithesis of what GC women typically believe.

I am female. I inhabit a female body. The rest is just feelz, and an inner womanly essence is not a thing I have ever experienced nor would claim. I doubt whether such a thing even exists, and if it does it's certainly not empirically proveable.

It's a strange combination of doublethink and projection to accuse others of precisely the bunkum you and your 'allies' argue on a more or less daily basis.

Needspaceforlego · 23/04/2025 20:49

Will the Terfs be really sad 😔 not having men and their smelly farts in the toilets?
Aww Dear! Least the Terfs loos will be clean 👌

But we all know the issue isn't just toilets, it's Changing rooms,
hospital wards,
prisons,
domestic abuse shelters,
rape crisis centers,
military barracks (wtf),
youth hostels,
girl guide tents,
single sex beauty couses, (see Isla Bryson)
boarding schools,
childrens homes,
Female being searched by trans police
Female police being asked to search trans

...I'm sure there must be more places, that have fallen for TWAW

Needspaceforlego · 23/04/2025 21:44

Oh and I'll add womans and girls sports to that list.

Heggettypeg · 24/04/2025 00:08

Lesbian social spaces and dating sites
Women's hobby groups
Women's festivals

Lyannaa · 25/04/2025 07:44

Yes, lesbians now feel that their dating sites are full of men.

twinklystar23 · 25/04/2025 08:17

No, they are not biological women. Professor Winston said on question time Every cell of our bodies are encoded with our male or female DNA (or words to that effect)

No, they are not biological women. Professor Winston said on question time Every cell of our bodies are encoded with our male or female DNA (or words to that effect)

FB suggested a post by one of the Scottish newspapers (the Herald, maybe) to me where they demanded that Fiona Bruce apologizes to Prof Winston for her remark that some people would disagree with him and I had quick scan of the comments. Most were fully in support of Prof Winston, but one commentator said "he is an expert in fertility, not sex" and another (my favourite) "why does he keep talking about those two chromosomes, why doesn't he talk about the other 16?"

TheOtherRaven · 25/04/2025 08:39

There will eventually have to be a court case to put this to bed and I'm sure Prof Winston will be very helpful.

We all know what the judgment will be. We can all then expect another insane letter that reality's all wrong and everyone's mean and fiction wins anyway and slammed doors, pouting and tears.

twinklystar23 · 25/04/2025 09:34

I looked up the you tube link relating to that just so i could make that quote, i heard that comment to from Fiona Bruce, was this all part of her having to toe the BBC party line?
The batshit cmments from some of the audience to a Professor ground breajing in his feld, yes around fertility but guess he may know a thing or two about biology.

Lets keep his statement alive that our DNA /cromosomes is encoded into EVERY (fucking) CELL OF OUR BODIES.

The supreme court appears to agree.

How much fucking longer and for how long does this need stating. Its so wearing. Guess we will have to continue to use the broken record technique with all these idiots. Like a toddler havibg a mantrum.

My impression is that FB is well on board all by herself.

Here's the link, notably he said that he would recieve hate mail (for stating biological facts which he is eminently most qualified to do)

I'm okay with Terf toilets 😈

Of course trans women are OK with terf toilets they just threaten females who get in their way with their 6 foot bodies, large hands and feet and penis. It's very much like a domestic violence situation. This is why we need protecting.

Conversely, Ive also seen posts (weaponising) wuth pics of fully bearded, hulking transman stating who we (i.e other bio women) would want in their SSS, alongside a willowy transwomen ( subtext - represented no threat)

Thought it was slightly amusing that a picture representing a male presenting person was used as a veiled threat. " Do you want him in your SSS?"
therefore is that TRAs do recognise our concerns, yet use such stereotypes to bully and intimidate us into acceptance.

Though a bit late now.

And don't forget Dawn Butler's 'butch lesbian friend' who has to be protected by DB and a phalanx of her straight friends because she [the butch lesbian] gets 'hounded out' of the women's toilet.

Some butch lesbians are challenged in the women's toilets 'Oi this is the Ladies!' - I've been challenged like that myself on occasions - but I've never heard of any lesbian being 'hounded out', it usually becomes obvious to the other women present that it's just a woman who looks a bit different from them, no hounding out needed.

I wonder is there an agency somewhere,
'Butch Lesbians and Hulking Six-Foot Fully Bearded Transmen available NOW for your carefully staged event!'
because suddenly there seem to be an awful lot of very butch lesbians and very tall transmen, and they all seem to have a lot of friends in high places who can't stop talking about them in the media.
Odd, that...🤔

Gettingbysomehow · 25/04/2025 10:40

I've never seen anyone hounded out of a toilet. Most women either leave in this situation or say nothing because they are afraid to say anything. This is the problem. There are no gangs of menopausal women with pitchforks waiting.

Gettingbysomehow · 25/04/2025 10:41

Unfortunately this is what biological men rely on.

ThatCyanCat · 25/04/2025 10:43

From what I can see, the consensus among butch women is that they know they might be questioned occasionally, they understand why and they are not offended. They say once they speak and let the person look at them a little longer, it is always sorted.

I've got a (gay male) friend who's addicted to using photos of bearded muscular transmen as a gotcha - "do you believe THIS person belongs in a women's toilet?"

All it does is remind me of those carefully staged photos Elliot Page does, where lots of social media followers big up EP for how stupendously masculine EP looks... and then you see EP in live footage, or standing next to another actor, and remember how tiny she is.

I can understand transpeople thinking they pass much better than they do, but I'm always a bit puzzled by allies who insist that passing transpeople are really common, when they know that's not true. It can't just be that they want to spare their friends' feelings.

TheOtherRaven · 25/04/2025 11:11

Bearded women are not a reason to remove women's protections in law. Women are 51% of the population, needing these protections. (Even the really thick ones who have been lucky enough to not have encountered a situation to make them realise why they need them yet, AND all the bearded women too.)

Men are really going to have to get their heads around this. 'No' is proving a word they really don't cope well with.

UrsulasHerbBag · 25/04/2025 12:19

How many actual trans people are there in the UK? Everybody seems to know an “utterly lovely kind generous” transwoman and a “big 6ft bearded” transman. Or they all know a GNC 6 ft female who has been “literally hounded” out of the ladies loo by hoards of GC feminists. Tge transmen mustn’t know what’s hit them, up until 2 weeks ago nobody gave a shiny shit about them. Women aren’t challenging anybody in the toilets.
