"Trans women ARE biological women"

I see this argument and comment more and more the last few weeks and hugely over the last 3 days.

For example:

https://www.reddit.com/r/transgenderUK/comments/1k1tliv/trans_women_are_biological_women/

This statement, and the comments underneath it absolutely baffle me.

The approach, one that I am sure will only work with a minority of the people who said TWAW, is to undermine the definition of words, yet again, and deliberately cloud the water when it comes to speaking clearly and using terms that everyone agrees with

I have seen it said in more places than Reddit however, and by respected people

They're not though. They're men.
No debate to be had. Don't get drawn into the nonsense that tries to say otherwise.

frenchnoodle · 18/04/2025 10:16

And clouds are candyfloss.

Bannedontherun · 18/04/2025 10:20

The law says otherwise so they are going to have to reframe their trauma and get over it, and catch up with the pace bloody dinosaurs

HiCandles · 18/04/2025 10:21

Bewildering. They may identify as women, and choose to present themselves as such, but they are not and can never be biologically female.
But what does 'present themselves' even mean?
Does anyone try to say that a women who chooses to wear only trousers and rugby tops with short hair and no make up is presenting themselves as man? Of course not, they're just choosing to wear what they like and feel comfortable in. This whole expectation to label yourself one way or another is unnecessary, IMO.

I saw a clip on YouTube of a young man saying he was a woman and he was obviously biological because he was a human, so therefore he was a biological woman. You can't argue against that level of stupid, perhaps he'll grow out the ignorance.

dudsville · 18/04/2025 10:27

But we don't have to entertain this anymore. Lots of people say things that are incorrect.

Hdjdb42 · 18/04/2025 10:30

Just because they say something, doesn't make it true!

Floisme · 18/04/2025 10:30

I think Dr Upton used the same line in the NHS Fife tribunal. ('I'm a woman and I'm biological, not a robot etc')

I would also avoid getting sucked in. If some people wish to demonstrate their idiocy to the whole world, who are we to try and stop them?

Moonshinerso · 18/04/2025 10:32

Since the ruling the arguments have been both this is a disaster for trans people and it makes no difference because you can trans your biology.

The opposing arguments from the same side are bizarre.

JKRismyPatronus · 18/04/2025 10:34

What really baffles me is how so many scientists and people like Richard Dawkins for instance are so transphobic

This was one of the comments that made me chuckle. I wonder why so many scientists don't believe transwomen are biological women.......it's a real puzzler 🤔

Dr Beth Upton from the Sandie case has actually said this in court.

It's what happens when you are in a bubble and everything is re-enforced by those around you, everything is re-enforced.

teawamutu · 18/04/2025 10:38

Can we do a little laugh and 'good one, but seriously...' now?

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 18/04/2025 10:40

It doesn't matter what they say.

The law of the land, as confirmed by the Supreme Court, disagrees.

Edited

I thought it was extremely concerning when he said that. Not just laughable, but genuinely concerning. He's a doctor, FGS.

myplace · 18/04/2025 10:46

The biological woman because human not robot argument needs a ‘nice try, but no!’, answer.

They are not that stupid. They know they are trying it on. It’s a childish attempt like claiming that actually I can have another bag of crisps for lunch, because the packet I had at 11am wasn’t actually my lunch, so…

There’s a female doctor arguing that biological sex “only matters to you and sometimes your doctor” and so it’s wrong to say TWANW. As if the NHS wasn’t fucked enough.

lady69 · 18/04/2025 10:56

I’d call it gaslighting but it is too pathetic for that. It’s just laughably wrong and the ones saying it are in la la land.

andtheworldrollson · 18/04/2025 10:57

Sone people believe it but most people who do usually think that the person doesn’t have a dick

I am biological. Shergar is biological, therefore....... 🐎

Waitwhat23 · 18/04/2025 11:02

It reminds me of when my small child insists (and my God, she's stubborn) that something I know is incorrect, is correct.

And I'm not talking about debatable stuff, I'm meaning stuff like wood comes from trees or the earth is round or, I dunno, cows and pigs are not the same animal.

We gently explain, giving examples, looking at books or other sources, etc etc and are met with a wall of just complete denial.

After a while, you have to give up in the face of such determined denialism.

But she's less than 5. She'll grow up and learn and realise all these things.

I suspect the truly 'I am a biological women because I say I am' lot won't ever grow out of it. It's a whole different level.

In adults no less.

Anyone who believes that has wasted their years in medical school and is not fit to practise medicine.

AllPlayedOut · 18/04/2025 11:03

Anyone who believes that has wasted their years in medical school and is not fit to practise medicine.

If he was in a role in private industry and made an equally nonsensical comment relating to his job, he would more than likely be managed out the door pronto.

How can NHS Fife possibly allow him to stay after this?

(Sorry, derailing the thread a bit. But that statement in the tribunal left me speechless)

GCAcademic · 18/04/2025 11:10

Luckily the law now categorically states otherwise so we don't need to spend another second giving this insanity any attention.

Bingbopboomboomboombopbam · 18/04/2025 11:12

I don’t understand what they’re trying to get at - surely not every trans women has higher levels of estrogen than testosterone pre-meds?
