"Trans women ARE biological women"

I see this argument and comment more and more the last few weeks and hugely over the last 3 days.

For example:

https://www.reddit.com/r/transgenderUK/comments/1k1tliv/trans_women_are_biological_women/

This statement, and the comments underneath it absolutely baffle me.

The approach, one that I am sure will only work with a minority of the people who said TWAW, is to undermine the definition of words, yet again, and deliberately cloud the water when it comes to speaking clearly and using terms that everyone agrees with

I have seen it said in more places than Reddit however, and by respected people

Genuinely, if I’m ever faced with this nonsense I shall respond ‘yes and I am a man’

How many actual trans people are there in the UK? Everybody seems to know an “utterly lovely kind generous” transwoman and a “big 6ft bearded” transman. Or they all know a GNC 6 ft female who has been “literally hounded” out of the ladies loo by hoards of GC feminists. Tge transmen mustn’t know what’s hit them, up until 2 weeks ago nobody gave a shiny shit about them. Women aren’t challenging anybody in the toilets.

How many actual trans people are there in the UK?

Approx. 262,000 I think, in the last Census.

87,300 are 6 foot bearded transmen
87,300 are butch lesbians
87,300 are utterly lovely kind generous transwomen who just want to live their lives in peace...

Or so it seems, since the SC ruling.

That’s an interesting question. Additionally, what proportion of “trans” identifying people have body dysmorphia, how many have AGP, how many are autistic etc

What? Are you questioning that there are 87,300 6 foot bearded transmen,
87,300 butch lesbians and 87,300 utterly lovely kind generous transwomen who just want to live their lives in peace...

So what explanation do you have for every pro-trans politician and commentator claiming to know at least one of each of those categories and quoting their experiences in toilets as examples of all that is wrong and transphobic about the SC ruling??

This is all in jest, and I know the Census figures are questionable.😃

I saw a claim by a TRA the other day that the Census seriously under-reported the true number of trans people...

How the Monty Python sketch came true. It was satire and and comedy at the time but is no longer funny as it's how we're living.

DeanElderberry · 25/04/2025 13:56

A total of 8,464 full Gender Recognition Certificates had been granted in the UK up to the end of March 2024 (so that's the total since April 2005), according to the latest available figures from the Ministry of Justice.

Well, if transwomen are biological women they're women aren't they? Not trans? So why do transwomen need any special consideration if they're women?

Because they are very special women, who do being a woman far better than natal woman and need the world to acknowledge this and stand in a line clapping and cheering and saying how brave and beautiful they are.

And when you think about it, by goodness, they have cunningly bypassed all the physically awful things about being a woman, the menstrual cramps, the physical toll of pregnancy and breastfeeding etc, not to mention all the other crap like the glass ceiling, the gender pay gap, often poor career progression , taking on the lions share of childcare and domestic duties, the appalling rate of domestic violence women suffer at the hands of their partners, the murder rate for women, other violence such as rape, sexual harassment at work and in the street …..

Do you know what, I am beginning to get the teensiest bit jealous. Maybe they have got it sussed, maybe it is almost worth putting up with the actual physical hurt of someone violently getting your pronouns wrong sometimes to be able ditch all the actual shit actual women put up with.

8,464?? The numbers involved are so tiny, aren't they?

There are about 70m of you lovely British subjects in the UK, and everything is expected to revolve around something like 0.5% of the population, including toilet provision in every non-residential building. Just in case one of the 0.5% are passing by and need a pee in a toilet of their choice.
Crazy stuff.

I'm reminded of my late mother tut-tutting at the sight of the entirely unused and empty skateboard facility which the council had built in the local park, at gresat expense, at the height of the skateboarding fad, to appeal to Youth.

Within less than a year, the skateboarding fad was over.

I think the authorities should think carefully before committing scare resources to meet the demands of such a tiny, but disproportionately noisy, percentage of the population - which may become even smaller if the current genderwoo has an element of 'passing fad' to it.

ScottBakula · 25/04/2025 14:13

Floisme · 18/04/2025 10:30

I think Dr Upton used the same line in the NHS Fife tribunal. ('I'm a woman and I'm biological, not a robot etc')

I would also avoid getting sucked in. If some people wish to demonstrate their idiocy to the whole world, who are we to try and stop them?

I agree with you.
They should take a leaf out of Mark Twain's book.

The numbers applying have gone up sharply in the last couple of years since making it possible to apply for one online and dropping the cost to £5. But it is still a tiny number, unlikely to be increased by the Supreme Court decision.

And the next time someone talks about all the effort and difficulty trans people go through, remember - online application. £5.

Argh. Cutted up pear in action.

It was all explained in very small words why accuracy was needed, including to be able to estimate accurately but apparently the most important thing was the emotional experience in the moment of filling it in as the sex desired to be. And fears around avoiding being on a watch list or something, as a large number of bewildered people speaking English as an additional language will be.

Accuracy is generally disliked by this lobby, it tends to create inconvenient facts, such as an actual number which then makes it difficult to imply that this is a tiny, tiny group (so do what they say) or it's a humungous enormous group (so do what they say) according to the main need moment to moment.

Ooh, and all the people with DSDs too, whose existence apparently justifies the demands of TRAs- there are far fewer of them than of trans people it would seem.

I swear 🤬 I can never remember the left v right thing?
Is Labour Left?

It's supposed to be but these days it's hard to say. That section of the left (with the Lib Dems) has lost its collective mind these days and has spent several years accusing anyone who thinks men are not women and that women sometimes need single sex spaces of being far right. It has stifled dissent, punished wrongthink and tried to force in Newspeak and thinks everyone else is being fascistic. It can piss off.

LongRangeDessertGroup · 25/04/2025 14:56

ChessorBuckaroo · 21/04/2025 02:43

"Would say that"..

So, a gay man, who says he has no interest in seeing a naked woman, your response would be..."they would say that"?

Can you see how ridiculous your comment is?

The two transwomen with whom this subject came up in conversation are both straight identifying and only date men.

And this idea that transwomen (legitimate transwomen, not the minuscule, fake minority who are predators) would go to all that trouble to change their body, take hormones, go through feminizing surgery, voice alteration, and go through therapy before doing so, just so they could use a changing room to get a glimpse of a naked woman, that's some reach.

Edited

I partake in a sport/ hobby that requires changing into suitable attire, and this means stripping off all clothes first.
In the last year I’ve been to four separate venues where the changing rooms all have the same set up, you walk through a door with either the male or female sign, followed by an inner door.

Once inside there are benches, coat hooks, a couple of shower cubicles and three or four toilets. There are no individual cubicles where you can get changed with any privacy.
These venues are used by all different age groups.

Are you seriously suggesting that it’s ok for a male person to enter the female changing room, where there’s likely to be young/ teenage girls in various states of undress, and that the male person can choose to strip naked in front of them? That it’s ok if the male person states they are transgender?
You really don’t have a problem with that at all?

Witchymadwoman · 25/04/2025 15:07

TheywontletmehavethenameIwant · 18/04/2025 10:23

I saw a clip on YouTube of a young man saying he was a woman and he was obviously biological because he was a human, so therefore he was a biological woman. You can't argue against that level of stupid, perhaps he'll grow out the ignorance.

That’s exactly what Upton said

DeanElderberry · 25/04/2025 15:29

Go to all that trouble to change their body, take hormones, go through feminizing surgery, voice alteration, and go through therapy before doing so make an online application and pay a fiver.

And that's the hard core, most of them don't do that.

Yes, the sailing club we belonged to had that arrangement (plus one room for the use of disabled people which therefore allowed for a different sexed carer).
it wouldn’t matter one iota how nice or what the motivations were of any male entering the girls and women’s changing room, it was obviously completely unacceptable. I’m sure some of the girls would have simply given up on their sport.

Needspaceforlego · 25/04/2025 16:11

Totally unacceptable for males to be in the female changing rooms especially not open plan.

I don't know about today's modern schools. But my secondary only had open plan changing rooms. Boys and Girls. Completely unacceptable for transgirls to be in the girls changing room.

Girls can be bad enough getting changed in front of each other. I do remember an older sister tell everyone her younger sister, in the same changing room, didn't have any pubic hair!!! (Less than 12mths between them but same school year)

Male / Female, black and white, no room for grey or trans anything. Even in changing rooms with cubicles, the mirrors area is often open plan, some women particularly smaller old woman would feel intimated have men sorting there hair beside them.

Er no, we most certainly didn’t ’choose to be called cis’. We’re just ‘women’. We don’t need to call ourselves ‘biological women’ - we’re the only sort of women.

call yourself what you want; this humptydumptyism doesn’t wash in most of the real world any more.
