Currently listening to Julie B being marvellous on Times Radio.

Jane Fae is in tears. Tears for what? Fairness. So manipulative - “we will survive” - look pretty alive to me.
”Forget about the hi falouting legal stuff” - No it’s the law!

GenderlessVoid · 16/04/2025 13:19

Thank you, FWS. I'm so proud of your valiant fight and grateful for all the work you put into this case. I'm overjoyed at the outcome. I can't express how happy I am or how grateful I am for all you have done for women.

Thank you, wonderful Mumsnetters, for being here to celebrate this victory.

WinterTrees · 16/04/2025 13:20

Jeremy Vine sounded like this has emboldened him to drop the faux befuddlement. To him it's always a game of 'what opinion makes me look best?' and it seems like believing in biological sex might suddenly look progressive.

The fragrant Jane brought her breakfast back up. Apparently.

Sorry, by her I meant his.

Sandie certainly can stop the tribunal if NHS throw enough money at her, to persuade her to settle. If I were in her shoes, I'd be holding out for a big payout

But, that feels like a hollow victory, as it'll be paid from taxpayer funds. So, a win for her / women generally and I do support that, but I'd be even happier if any settlement was paid by the HR managers personally

Att his point there is very little chance of NHS Fife winning the tribunal. So I think Sandie will be getting a large payout anyway. And if she doesn't settle NHS Fife and Dr Upton (& maybe Kate Searle too) will be jointly and severably liable. I think it is really important to get this judgement and also to serve as a warning to those who would personally harass and victimise those with GC views

How does this work with people like Dr Upton who says that Uptonself is a 'biological woman' because they is a woman and they is biological?

I suspect the doctors bio-logic is flawed.

Headlining on R4. Predictably the BBC have rung up one of the TRAs they have on speed dial to do a sad voice on the World at One.
Let them speak. Hopefully there'll then be some sensible analysis from a grown up.

honestly what a pathetic quavery sad voice, like he was about to break into tears, as if that would excuse the nonsense he was speaking
does he think that's how women get stuff done?

Won't do him any harm. I often skip breakfast

Extreme porn advocate Jane Fae saying that the news felt 'like a physical punch'. Given that 'Jane' campaigned to defend the author of a story depicting the violent murder, rape and dismemberment of each member of Girls Aloud, and described most murders of women as being 'boring and pedestrian' and down to women having 'eggshell skulls' my sympathy for Jane feeling like he's been punched is... non-existent.

Faux befuddlement is an excellent description and it is irritating the amount of people who pretend to be permanently confused. Yes, aspects of it can be confusing but someone in his position should be above it.

I think he does it to feign a man in the street image, which is tiresome.

Jeremy has trans friends and always sits on the fence or does his ‘what does this all mean’ looking puzzled act. He knows exactly what it all means.

Like James O Brian. Very brave and crusading when it comes to popular lefty topics, shies away like a coward when it’s something he knows could lose him a good few followers.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 16/04/2025 13:31

So far I've had the misfortune to hear 3 transwomen interviewed - Jane Fae, Heather Herbert & Ellie Gomerall. All in denial and spouting emotive, incoherent nonsense. And all unable to answer any direct question.

The evidence of self interest / me me me is overwhelming. 😆

ZookeeperSE · 16/04/2025 13:32

Wow, what a time to be alive. It takes a supreme court ruling to conclude that men are not women.
How on earth did we get to this point? (No need to answer, it's rhetorical. I already know how, I just can't quite believe it).

I’ve already been called a “loud bigot” this morning and been lectured on how it’s men who are a threat to women, not trans women.

I’m honestly too jaded to navigate these conversations any more

Oh well.

Just remind them that the law of the land has now been revealed to be a rather liberal measure that protects trans people and single sex spaces

This person’s voice on the radio just now.

So relieved SC ruled for women.

Does this mean when I use the changing room at David Lloyd and there's a man in there dressed as a woman we can ask David Lloyd to remove him?

Only if David Lloyd have specifically designated the changing rooms as women's single-sex

They have signs up saying that boys over the age of 8 have to change in the gents so yes I think they are single sex.

YourAmplePlumPoster · 16/04/2025 13:36

Gosh. They're going to have to offer counselling over at the Guardian and BBC.

But I thought they didn't include boys over the age of 8 who identified as women in that? I could very well be mixing them up with another gym though.

Peony1897 · 16/04/2025 13:38

Does anyone else just love the photos of women celebrating the ruling? I’m so thankful to them. It’s wonderful seeing, for once, a celebration of women and their determination when they’re not ‘media approved’ women (aka 20 year old celebrities or members of the Royal Family).

PaleBlueMoonlight · 16/04/2025 13:38

There seems to be an emerging tactic of "what about transmen" and that "the law is still unclear".

I think the impact of this ruling is potentially that if they allow males over the age of 8 in the women's changing rooms they can no longer describe them as single sex.

That said, the age limit of 8 muddies the waters somewhat, because the Equality Act does not make this distinction. But little boys have always been allowed in women's spaces with their mothers by common consent.

What about trans men?

Trans men can now bring equal pay claims if they find that they are being discriminated against compared to men.

So there is that.

Just watched Herbert's so far. I'm surprised there wasn't a support plushie on screen with him.
