Trump re trans issues / Tate brothers

I have read many threads both before and after the US election where posters are so pleased that Trump does not support the trans agenda. Some also saying that this was the most important issue which would and did influence their vote in the UK election.
Do you still feel the same now? Trump has shown his contempt for women throughout his life and career. Now he has bullied Romania into lifting the travel ban on the Tates and flown them into Florida ready to abuse more women and radicalise a new generation of misogynists and rapists.
Any buyer’s remorse?

Donald Trump could have stopped it all in the same way in 2016-2020, no? Or didn't he have the numbers? I don't think he was that interested, more concerned about playing golf with Caitlyn Jenner.

frenchnoodle · 28/02/2025 12:57

Sometimes it's like threads here have been started using chat gpt prompts.

I still don't know what we have bought that we are being told off for?

Me neither!

I completely agree that sex is immutable and I also agree that all the issues which go hand in hand with the trans ideology are extremely harmful so this is a very important issue but, and it is a big but, there are even bigger issues facing humanity as a whole and also particular to women as a group.
Trump, and to a much lesser extent conservatives and even reform in the uk have the benefit of not supporting the trans agenda but at what price?
As regards being left or right or wing, trump is neither. He is a sub species. He is trump wing. This is not normal politics.
I used the term “buyer’s remorse” to include buying into part of what he is selling not purely those who voted for him.
As somebody else posted, hitler was a vegetarian. I am a vegetarian myself but I don’t see this as a redeeming quality balanced with the horrors. In fact it rather fucks me off.

'buying into part of what he's selling'?

Can you explain what you mean, here?

Trump thinks there are two sexes, therefore I should reject the fact that there are two sexes?

Realityisreal · 28/02/2025 13:15

@Mittens67 You don't seem to understand how much harder fighting societal issues for women will be if we let the slide continue and just allow some men to be redefined as women, to have access to all single sex spaces, to include them when creating data regarding health and outcomes.
If we can't even trust doctors and nurses working in the NHS to publicly acknowledge, in court, the very real medical differences between men and women, we are already scarily along the road to chaos and avoidable harm to women.
Once we've lost these things the patriarchal society in which we all live may not want to give them back, after all, they're not impacted by this and it does put us back in our where many still think we belong.

Obscurial · 28/02/2025 13:16

Humans can’t change sex, but I wouldn’t have voted Trump for his stance on gender ideology because he’s potentially a disaster for women.

As it stands I feel his bull in a china shop approach will make martyrs of trans people - have already seen this in regards to men in women’s sports - and may well backfire and provide more fuel for TWAWs and pronoun people.

As it is I feel USA is headed for a civil war and won’t look the same in 5 years, but I think the trans population will gain a lot of sympathy because of Trump.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 28/02/2025 13:19

Thought the same @frenchnoodle

pastaandpesto · 28/02/2025 13:26

The thing that really pisses me off about questions like this is that they illustrate exactly why we are in this fucking mess. Complexity and nuance of debate has been abandoned in favour of soundbites, side taking and echo chambers.

I am relieved at the stance Trump is taking to safeguard children and women's sports, while simultaneously horrified at almost everything else he is doing. I am conflicted. Is that really so difficult to understand?

Yes to all of this. Additionally if we are forced to accept what we know is untrue and be compelled to be part of the deception, we have nothing.

So @Mittens67 you say there are much bigger issues to be worried about but I disagree. I am not ashamed for prioritising the safeguarding of women and children against transgender ideology.

These threads will keep appearing, if Ukraine gets a bad deal, someone will come on here saying "Ukraine got a bad deal, it's your fault because of restricting trans rights" if tariffs hit "it's your fault because of restricting trans rights".

For activists trans rights clouds their thoughts about everything, and it all comes back to trans rights for them.

JasmineAllen · 28/02/2025 13:55

I've never watched an AT video before but it's not at all what I was expecting.

He's urging men to have sex with Hulk Hogan as long as HH has had gender reassignment surgery rather than have sex with Megan Fox (I don't know who MF is, but I assume she's female).

It's very bizarre and I hadn't realised that AT was a) gay and b) dressed so badly.

😂😂😂😂

You're not wrong.

Sometimes it feels like because this site is called Mumsnet everyone in the world wants to bring all their moans and grievances here in the hope we'll kiss it all better.

It's his very odd jug-eared Gollum look that got me when I first watched that video.

I remain baffled by his apparent appeal.

TheKeatingFive · 28/02/2025 13:57

Given that almost no one on here even had a vote, let alone gave it to Trump - what 'buyers remorse' would we have?

Pure insanity 🫠

ArabellaScott · 28/02/2025 13:58

'I operate on several levels higher than the average man' 😂

So he's high. That maybe explains it.

ArabellaScott · 28/02/2025 13:59

'Megan Fox with the dick or Hulk Hogan with a pussy' - honestly, this is exactly the kind of thing a disturbed nine year old boy might come out with. And why can't he buy a shirt that fits? Isn't he quite rich?

TinselAngel · 28/02/2025 14:06

What would the OP have us do if for some reason recent events made us realise Trump being in power isn't a price worth paying, when we don't have a vote anyway? Protest outside the US embassy for men to be put back in women's sports?

Impossiblenurse · 28/02/2025 14:10

Erm what is, or was, the 'trans agenda'? You mentioned it a couple of time now, here and in your OP.

Winterwonders24 · 28/02/2025 14:25

BettyFilous · 28/02/2025 11:00

@Beowulfa has all bases covered. Seconded.

Harris is for they/them, trumps for you: that moved the needle. Until the left recognise 50%+ of the country aren't 'nazis',but might just appreciate biological and material reality, and not being lied to about same, they should not expect trust. I know I doubt a lot more What our politician's say on anything as they can't tell a buck from a doe. Now, where people vote if Trump crashes the economy/starts world war three,I don't know: but the dems, like the tories, would be foolish to think people will trust them in a generation without some serious mea culpas.

Winterwonders24 · 28/02/2025 14:27

LadyBracknellsHandbagg · 28/02/2025 13:05

I think it's essentially "being gobby women, and not prioritising other people's wants and desires": same old same old

@ArabellaScott you've just made me think of Blackadder 2: when the sailor goes to Baldrick when he's works a prostitute. "Mum kiss it better, and you shall have a story". Then he asks hiw much for a "good hard shag". I think I may gave ruined that scene for me now!!

😶

Happyinarcon · 28/02/2025 14:39

I don’t really care about Tate so I have no opinion. Trump can send him on a round the world cruise for all I care. I do believe 100% in freedom of speech so hes welcome to talk about what he wants. I have no idea about the legitimacy of any of his charges or whatever. Stopping kids getting tangled up in the trans agenda is worth a bus load of Andrew tates.

UrsulasHerbBag · 28/02/2025 14:42

Are we blaming women for Andrew Tate? I thought that’s what he did? The Liberal Democrat’s made themselves unvoteable for some women and that’s on them not the women. I don’t like the idea of scolding women for voting. It’s their right to vote how they choose on whatever issue they want whether we agree or not.

Mittens67 · 28/02/2025 14:45

I am not scolding or telling off anyone. If anything I have been roundly scolded for asking a question!
As for chat gp or whatever it is I can assure you I have never had anything to do with it, and I agree the media of all persuasions has an angle on each issue so I am no more or less influenced than anyone else who reads widely to try and get to the facts.
I am not saying trump’s behaviour is anybody’s fault except his own.
I am questioning whether it is possible that some people who said stopping the juggernaut of gender ideology was their top priority are now questioning their choice if it means helping trump (and I would say or anybody like him, but to be honest I am not sure there is anyone as awful as a comparator) into power.
The various threads I have read about changes trump has introduced regarding trans issues are celebratory. I understand that because of course this is a good thing but I haven’t seen many caveats and references to the other crap which he has done at the same time.
From the likes my original post received I can see I am not alone in wanting to ask about this but presumably others were too sensible than to put their head above the parapet!
It is a sad thing when we can’t ask a question amongst ourselves and agree or disagree without the way this thread has gone.
I’ll leave the topic alone now as I think I have got an answer.
