NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #10

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 February 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on Thursday 6 February.

Let me summarise. Upton says he is a woman and he is not a man and there are different types of women - cis women and trans women. He is bonkers. Has lost the plot. The end.

It would have been useful if the judge had done a 'And what are the beatles' intervention on 'cis' It is not a standard term in the English language, it is very contested, it's meaning is based on gender and therefore defies clear definition. Not a very useful word in a legal setting.

I'd suggest some questions should be put to the SNP Health Minister but honestly, they're such a useless shower 'o shite, it's pointless. The SNP's Equalities minister is an ideologue as this clip shows:

Expecting anything different from the Health Minister after listening to a doctor claim he's a woman & male/female are nebulous meaningless terms he doesn't understand would involve a 'meh' response.

And the defence only called her as a witness to prevent the claimant from calling a halt to the hearing and adding Dr Searle as a 3rd respondent. I think this must be why they started late this morning.

We did know last week that Dr Searle would be called, and we had references to the email - just not such a clear description of what was in it. There have been several batches of late disclosures I think!
