And wheeling out the tired old "everything I don't like is just like the Nazis" argument doesn't work anymore.
True. Unfortunately in this case, it pretty much is the Nazis. Trump is 100% going to adopt the same playbook as Fascism ie populism, economic protectionism, monopolism for favoured corporates and social conservatism. And it will look like it's working fueled by his supporters optimism, loose monetary policy and probably a crypto bubble right up until the wheels fall off and it doesn't, at which point he will become more and more authoritarian and anti free speach to maintain his position and keep the media and populace cowed about acknowledging the failure for as long as he can.
Because Trump can't stand criticism so he is never going to tell his supporters that he can't solve their problems after all, or that the reasons they think things are bad are not the real reasons, or that things will get worse before they can get better (and stay worse for some people because actually they already had it better than they deserved based on their input). So he'll just keep pulling all the short term fixes he can until he runs out. And then god knows what he'll do.
The US Left are finding out they are the boy who cried wolf and when the eal Nazis came no one was listening. :(
The best hope for the US is for one of Trump's side who has less stage charisma to take advantage of a period of weakness to attack and dethrone him, and then fail to keep popular support.
