Trump announces executive order that says legally there are only 2 genders (hmmm did he mis-speak and meant sex?)

Well this will add to the confusion.

Have just heard him use the word gender, even though earlier news reports had said he would say only 2 sexes.

Trump to sign order proclaiming there are only two sexes

Donald Trump's government is set to recognise only two genders, male and female. The move will come as part of a swathe of executive orders the incoming president will sign on his first day back in the White House. It is one of two branded as "common...

So if it's not safe for males to use the male toilets because of the behaviour of other males, then how does it make any sense to inflict males upon female toilets? Do you not want female toilet users to be safe?

How much does it need to be spelled out? Now you’re feigning ignorance. Transwomen don’t want to be seen as men and they don’t present as men. That’s the whole point.

lots and lots of men are transphobic and homophobic too, in case you haven’t noticed, and will and do make gay and transgender people very uncomfortable with great regularity

MarieDeGournay · 22/01/2025 21:01

gay people do very much see their cause aligned with the trans community, ...I think the community themselves would be best placed to decide if the causes align, not heterosexual women.

You really are the gift that keeps on giving, leftorrightnow - now you've given me the opportunity to recycle that vintage lesbian and gay slogan:
How dare you assume I'm heterosexual!
Smile

Maybe you are not? I just don’t know many (or any?) gay people who are against transgender rights. Maybe I move in the wrong circles

So why aren’t you arguing for gay men to use the women’s toilets?

because they don’t want to? because it’s not a physical characteristic to be gay?

So your argument is that what some men want (you accept they’re still men) should trump what many women want?

(edited to reflect your late edit). Being transgender isn’t a ‘physical characteristic’ it’s an expression of an internal feeling.

So we should just let men do whatever they want then? That's your argument?

PS would really genuinely like to hear from some gay people on this thread if they see their cause aligned with the trans community or if, as some has suggested they’re diametrically opposed

Edited

They’re diametrically opposed.

Many women - I’m not sure the majority of women is against transwomen using women’s toilets. I for one don’t care at all. I haven’t met a transgender woman in the wild more than probably once in my life. And I didn’t mind her being in the same toilet as me. Your assumption is based on the idea that most women are scared of transwomen. Why would they be?

(for anyone about to jump on this I know a lot of gay and transgender people through a specific area of my life and so I hang out with them at times and then it’s usually at gay bars or places with mixed sex toilets)

I don’t want ONLY mixed sex toilets and men-men being in that space all the time.

I assume that you must move in the wrong circles if you've never heard any lesbian or gay people speak out about gender idealogy

Oooookay? So the communities mixing and marching together at pride for example, or having a joint acronym and joint rights organizations is made up by…whom exactly?

We’re at the asking questions that have been answered and the ‘you don’t want transgender people to exist’ stage then. Comes around earlier every year.

If only I’d thought to bring my bingo card 😁

Well you can't consent on behalf of women who don't want men violating their boundaries. That's some Dominique Pelicot type logic you have there.

You yourself confirmed that transwomen are ‘still men’. So those for a start.

That's because they kicked the sex realist lesbians out of all the marches.

The LGB Alliance was set up because the LGB wanted to split from the TQ+

You’re consenting for some male people to be in women’s toilets impacting all the other women there regardless of whether they consent, but you personally don’t want to have to share toilets with some males (I believe you call them men men) all the time. That’s some next level arrogance.

More forced teaming.
Some are OK with it, some are not.
No one knows how many are happy with the situation or not. Your assertion is baseless. You get to speak for you, not other people.

Goodness, there are even organisations (eg LGB Alliance) set up by gay people to defend their rights and represents their interests. Sexual orientation being completely different to the ideology of claims to gender identity. Even I know about LGB Alliance UK meeting where those who wished to sabotage their meeting let insects loose in the room. Aside from the shameful act of purchasing living creatures which they knew would probably have to be destroyed by the venue, it really illustrates how an organisation such as LGB Alliance is truly needed.

Some may equate ‘transgenderism’ as a type of conversion movement on young people who are LGB. Rather than having your child being gay. There was that wry joke (in one of those clinics treating children/youth) that there wouldn’t be any more gay people left as the kids were all being ‘transed’. Transing the gay away.

Good question! I don't know who makes up all these things, it will be an interesting topic for future research when the dust has settled, maybe somebody can come up with an answer as to how on earth such clearly unfounded ideas took root in a few parts of the world in the early 21st century.

It wasn't the LGB community, because nobody asked us.

The joint acronym doesn't make sense, as it combines two different groups based on two different things: sexual orientation in the case of LGB, and gender identity in the case of TQ+++.

That's why there is an active campaign to separate the two. You may have seen the LGB✂T logo? It represents the campaign to restore the autonomy of the LGB movement.
