How many MNers will join me in applying for a GRC??

QueenDoria · 29/12/2024 23:40

having read on another thread that it only costs £5 to apply for a GRC, how many MNers will join me in applying to ‘become’ a man?
one’s legal status as a mother will not change, and I’m sure we’ll all see a 20% uplift in our wages…
We might get turned down if the panel gets an inkling we might be insincere, but, for the sake of a fiver, we could swamp the application process…

Evil, unprincipled and borderline illegal - and I like that in a person😂

QueenDoria · 29/12/2024 23:49

How very dare you? (And why would it be illegal?)

Not me. It’s about acceptance without exception.

Do I get to pretend I can't find things in shops? You know, if I can't be arsed?

Yes Baroness. Or Baron. You can leave all the Xmas shopping to your spouse too.

https://www.gov.uk/apply-gender-recognition-certificate

Having a certificate means you can:

  • update your birth or adoption certificate, if it was registered in the UK
  • get married or form a civil partnership in your affirmed gender
  • update your marriage or civil partnership certificate, if it was registered in the UK
  • have your affirmed gender on your death certificate when you die
It will not change your legal status as the father or mother of a child.

You do not need a certificate to:

Apply for a Gender Recognition Certificate

Apply for a Gender Recognition Certificate to legally change your gender.

I hope it might make me better at opening jars but.., biological reality…

Hot tap and an elastic band.
Works for me.

If I were ever on a TV panel show… I could interrupt the woman panellist with no thought or consideration!!

We only need 2 reports. But not to worry

‘There’s no required content for this second report, and it can include the same information from the first report.’

QueenDoria · 30/12/2024 00:10

Who would write the report? Does it have to be a medical professional?

When I discovered that I could use a thick elastic band to open jars and a stepladder to reach things on high shelves, my then DP told me i didn't need a man any more. He was right of course.

It’s shocking when you see it written down like that isn’t it?

That one individual can seek to retrospectively change a certificate issued years before relating to a legal agreement between two people. And that trans activist campaigners and some politicians/ political parties are vigorously lobbying for the other party to that marriage to have no say in the certificate of the legal agreement they entered into being altered in a fundamental way.

Of course one has to have lived in the acquired gender (whatever the fuck that means) for 2 years. As I have owned power tools and not worn make up or a skirt for much longer than that, I assume I'll qualify.

QueenDoria · 30/12/2024 00:43

Well… putting the jars aside for a while… if there were an organised campaign of 1000s of women spending a fiver to expose the idiocy of this legislation… coukdnt that be the most important fiver ever spent?

Can I pay for one & then do nothing with it?

I CBA fannying with passports & what not.

No gender cops will come knocking to enforce my masculinity?

That’s what I was thinking, WeeWiglet.

i actually DO like make up and swisher dresses but it’s not about clothes, is it? It’s about my feelings and no one can question them…

There doesn’t seem to be a definition of the word ‘gender’ anywhere on the gender recognition certificate application website. I was shocked.

One assumes that any of the many genders can be ‘selected’ for one’s new gender recognition certificate. They don’t seem to be listed though. Can one make one up?

I hope we can apply for several grc’s, to ensure we’re using the right one on the right day. Depending how we feel.

And what a cunning way to change identity, all for only £5! Guess we will have to pay for updated passports etc. Still most worthwhile to escape those pesky criminal records that follow people about.

I like this idea, it reminds me of the excellent Man Friday activism

🤣 took me a moment… I was trying to understand how this was a good alternative for changing gender instead of getting a GRC

Sasskitty · 30/12/2024 01:24

The forms are extremely complex.

Yes, there is no need to show the certificate in most cases. My workplace wont even need to know unless I want to tell them.

I've already given this quite a lot of thought. I need a DBS for current role, unless I invoke the certificate I dont need to mention it. They wont look for one or previous names unless I tell them privately that I have one and my names were x and if I don't change my name (why would I, its unisex) then I dont need a new bc or retrospective marriage cert except for the sex marker. I'm not too fussed about the sex marker on my documents, I would already have the gold standard of all certificates proving my "gender" what more could a girl (man) want?

teawamutu · 30/12/2024 08:36

I'd do this.

I do wear tights and dresses sometimes and I like make up and I crochet, although I do also love dinosaurs, read science books and hate heels.

I assume that's enough to be living as a man and I'd be considered valid.

Mittens67 · 30/12/2024 08:51

Would a certificate saying we are men mean we could walk home in safety at night?
If so it could be hugely popular.
