How many MNers will join me in applying for a GRC??

QueenDoria · 29/12/2024 23:40

having read on another thread that it only costs £5 to apply for a GRC, how many MNers will join me in applying to ‘become’ a man?
one’s legal status as a mother will not change, and I’m sure we’ll all see a 20% uplift in our wages…
We might get turned down if the panel gets an inkling we might be insincere, but, for the sake of a fiver, we could swamp the application process…

I presume extra scrutiny will now be given to applicants made after the date of this thread for a short while at least.

Unfortunately that could mean extra difficulties and delays for trans people, but perhaps that was the aim of this thread?

You pass on the info about the thread, and you then blame the thread because

"Unfortunately that could mean extra difficulties and delays for trans people, but perhaps that was the aim of this thread?"

🤣🤣🤣🤣

To be fair, you'll need to pay an additional £600 for the gender dysphoria diagnosis appointment and then persuade various people to give evidence that you've been living as a man for 2 years, and also get written permission from your spouse.

So you should probably get on with doing the bins and chopping the wood just as guests are due and expecting women to make your tea now, to use as evidence.

Given that most people doing this will be biological men who wish to be recognised as women, I cannot imagine that any tiny part of this ridiculous process involves that man asking an actual biological womans permission. My exhusband went and got himself a vasectomy without needing any permission ( or indeed knowledge of it ) from me. I very much doubt this is any different

Strictly speaking, it’s confirm: whether your spouse a) consents to their marriage certificate being rewritten to record their marriage as a same sex union not an opposite sex union (or vice versa) following your GRC being issued to you; or b) prefers to exit the marriage before your GRC is issued to you.

That's quite the exercise of power Chris? A personal hotline to the panel that gets such an instant response. Wow. Amazing for for such an allegedly marginalised, oppressed and powerless group of people to have such an instant impact.

I bet all the citizens applying for benefits, DLA, SEN provision for children, passports etc would love to have such influence on the systems the rest of society has to navigate

It’s the change to the marriage certificate that requires the consent of the spouse.

Trans rights activists are campaigning for spouses to no longer have the option of exiting the marriage before the GRC is issued to their spouse.

Chris Tin Apple?

I think you'll find it's Chris Tin Applé, the Tin Applé family of course took the name after Msr Tin Applé invented Tin Plating in 18th century France

There didn't seem to be any difficulties or delays for men like Isla Bryson, so I doubt it.

borisjohnsonsforgottencondom · 30/12/2024 15:19

Oohhh my new favourite colour is blue, this must mean I qualify?

It was pink for ages then suddenly I realised that everything I was buying/liking over the last few months was blue, and now I'm a boy.

I do feel stunning and brave, but no better at strength related tasks which is a bummer... Guess DP will need to stick around, and be ok with his new status as a gay man.

Curses, another plot foiled! If it wasn't for the gender-addled frauds the brave gender-pioneers would have gotten away with it, too.

All this unfair scrutiny of genderfeels is most upsetting. Aren't we allowed to Live as Our True Selves, too?

Because they are the worst sort of narcissistic tossers.

ArabellaScott · 30/12/2024 15:52

What is this extra scrutiny going to involve, anyway? TWO gas bills?

Maaate · 30/12/2024 15:56

Isn't it massively transphobic not to believe someone is trans when they say they are?

Margy just can't help exposing their disgusting transphobia 😕

Well, OP, I’ve long maintained that I will get one if self-ID is brought in, but as I would currently have to lie to a doctor, I won’t.

Women campaigning for rights, from the suffragettes onwards have a long history of non-harmful civil disobedience and I feel it would be my duty to demonstrate how open self-ID is to abuse. Indeed, with a Mumsnet campaign, I suspect we could even cause considerable disruption by swamping the process for some time.

And before anyone objects, it should be obvious that good, well thought out laws should not be susceptible to this kind of action. The last such coordinated campaign, I believe, was in response to Margaret Thatcher’s poll tax, which didn’t last very long in the face of widespread refusal to pay.

Exactly this. Any attempts by Labour to fuck women over by sneaking in self-id and I'm throwing in my fiver.
