Is it too early for a post mortem?

So, now that America has categorically rejected transgender ideology, which I do think will affect the rest of the world, is now the time to ascertain HOW did so many institutions, including the Democratic and Labour Parties get so completely bamboozled by this ideology? Which is crazy, not based in material reality, disadvantages half of the population, has physically damaged thousands of young people, and that they didn't think that people would see through it?

I know a lot of people dislike Matt Walsh, but his documentary, What is a Woman, was jaw dropping! We must NEVER let this dangerous idiocy happen again ( and yes I know it's not over...)

Because men get what they want, no matter how it affects women and girls.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 15/11/2024 17:28

Because they don’t much care for/ about women, and since the pesky critters started getting professional jobs, and votes and the ability to choose or reject their mates, they have become very annoying ( threatening) and should be put back in their box and the lid clamped down.

And what better way of doing this than denying that there are any distinguishing features about women, so it is perfectly obvious that people who happen to have been born ‘men’ can participate in everything previously reserved for women, and twist it to their own gratification.

That will teach ‘em.

SweetSixty · 15/11/2024 17:31

And Trump does?

Yes that is my worry too, but I'm heartened by the fact that a significant, previously silenced percentage of the American population said no to this. I sincerely hope that this is the beginning of the end, as this started in America. And if it is, there needs to be a forensic examination into how such an anti science, anti reality ideology was so easily able to capture so many institutions, including ones that one would have thought would have either just dismissed it, or fought against it, tooth and nail.

The idea that republicans give a shit about women is absolutely laughable.

People that believe that have to be completely fucking deluded or have no critical thinking skills at all.

It's embarrassing seeing women celebrating this election result.

What's laughable is having a Prime Minister who can't say that no woman has a penis, actually. That's embarrassing and ludicrous and dangerous...

If they're doing the right thing on trans issues for the wrong reasons, then it's still a win. I'm no trump fan, but not mutilating children and eroding women's rights is a good thing no matter who is responsible for getting it done.

lawlessland · 15/11/2024 18:24

@Appalonia and what does that have to do with electing a convicted criminal and a man accused of numerous sex offences to office?
Tell me how this president and his party give a flying shit about the needs of women?

How are they actually committing to improve the lives of women? To make them feel safer? To ensure they'll get the healthcare they need?

Oh how this hits home! Not just men but BOYS in my life have always got what they wanted...
Sorry I won't continue.
I am f🔱ck|ng annoyed.

Again, I am talking about the US election. To my knowledge, the Labour Party weren't standing in this election.

Why are you so determined not to actually discuss Trump and what a disgusting scumbag he is?

I agree he's a scumbag, doesn't mean he can't be right about trans issues though does it?

lawlessland · 15/11/2024 18:35

But the idea that someone as dangerous as him should be elected due to a (dishonest and opportunistic) position on a single issue is terrifying. That women are willing to destroy the rights of women in having agency over their reproductive health is outrageous and so incredibly cruel.

Eraserbread · 15/11/2024 18:36

I agree, and I wouldn't have voted for him had I been in the US, but I can't deny I'm not glad he's going to do something about transing children (if indeed he actually does follow through).

Apollo441 · 15/11/2024 18:39

Trump IS a scumbag. But he is 100% correct on protecting children from this nonsense. That is a major win in what will probably be a regressive presidency on many counts. Is that so hard to understand?

Yes it is! This presidency could do untold damage to the rights of women and access to healthcare.

That's not even starting to think about the environmental costs of a republican leadership, the attacks on immigrants and international relations.

Screamingabdabz · 15/11/2024 18:47

Putting US politics aside, how is any moderately educated, adult, thinking person captured by this ideology? To think that so many professionals in education, law, govt, the police and even science and health seriously think people can change sex and will willingly put moronic pronouns on their emails and uniforms is an exercise in how quickly people can be frightened and brainwashed in our algorithm fed age.

This is what we should fear. Trans ideology and incel culture is just the warm up.

Women don't even exist under trans ideology - I would say that's quite damaging to the rights of women and their access to healthcare.

PriOn1 · 15/11/2024 19:07

It’s way too early for anything that implies this is the end of this ideology. A strong blow has been struck, but you are underestimating the tenacity of those driving this and the levels of capture that have been achieved.

“HOW did so many institutions, including the Democratic and Labour Parties get so completely bamboozled by this ideology”

I suspect the answer to this is that this campaign has been run by businessmen who are experienced in hostile takeover tactics, where massive undermining of the original structures is combined with careful infiltration: placement of key personnel in positions of influence. Then, once all that is done, the final coup de grace comes so quickly that all opposition is overwhelmed and it is close to impossible to fight back.

Jennifer Bilek has suggested a number of names.

The thing that will finally end it will be the medical scandal that is building, but it’s going to take time for all the sterilized children to grow up and realize what has been stolen from them, and for their affluent parents to call their layers

TempestTost · 15/11/2024 19:09

Trump may be the most open, but he's hardly the first president or candidate with a dodgy reputation with women. Look at the Clintons. Democratic women thought Hilary was a great thing for women a few years ago, she protected a husband with clearly very questionable sexual morals.

Then there is Biden, even if we don't really think he was touching women up, as some have suggested, he certainly said some pretty questionable stuff about black people.

My take is that it is just old misogyny and highly convenient for a lot of people to believe it. Trans rights is an easy politically acceptable to hold women in contempt. If you just said women were cattle for breeding then you would have some issues.

The new trans agenda which is doggedly heterosexual in terms of “what women are” is similarly limiting. I think the misogyny is massive, left and right.

Appalonia · 15/11/2024 19:22

This ISN'T about Trump. I'm no fan of his. I have no doubt that his video promising to eradicate this ideology has not come from any deep held conviction of his, it's his astute advisors telling him what will be popular.

My question is, since this election looks like it's is going to sound the death knell for this ideology, we need to understand exactly HOW this ideology managed to be so successful in so many areas?

I think people need to stop getting so hung up on Trump. The issues remain even when he doesn't.......and most people reject trans ideology.
