What do you make of it? I was all for a break from the cesspit that it is TwiX, but I'm getting dubious vibes. Set up my account, searched for a few of the accounts which I follow on Twitter, got to Kathleen Stock and all I found was transphobe, blah blah type posts. Depressing.

Yes I'm quite willing to tolerate Andrew Tate, being called Cis, and generally allow idiots to say what they want in order to have the right to say what I believe to be true.

Me too.

The fact people here are saying extreme misogynist and racists are just as bad as trans people and allies says it all about the gender critical movement.

"My X thread has pretty pictures of countryside, birds and old buildings."

How nice, but can Jowling say the same?

https://www.starobserver.com.au/news/hbo-backs-jk-rowling-and-her-right-to-spout-transphobic-drivel/234012

"Between September to November of this year, she’s written or reposted more than 200 posts about trans people. During this time, she made a grand total of nine Harry Potter posts."

ok so Rowling's Twitter feed is about 4.3% Harry Potter and 95.6% trans people.

The people saying JK Rowling's crusade against trans people will be what she will end up being remembered for aren't joking.

DeanElderberry · 22/11/2024 16:33

Does it say what percentage was about Robin and Cormoran? Those are the books (or more accurately that is THE book) people want to hear about now.

oh cut it out. As if you TRAs haven't been calling women's rights campaigners nazis.

Also your reading comprehension is somewhat lacking. Nobody said they are the same. Posters have said that free speech is better than censorship.

JK Rowling talks about women's rights. The fact that people like Ms Apple think that is incompatible with TRA rights then we have a problem, right? it means the TRAs are encroaching on women's rights.

And when did the last HP book come out? 10 or more years ago? why the heck should the writer post much about them? she has a new series out that people want to hear about. But in any case: why can't women write about women's rights and women's issues?

TrumptonsFireEngine · 22/11/2024 17:00

And yet Harry Potter just keeps on selling.

I am not saying transideologists are just as bad as extreme misogynists. I am saying transideology IS extreme misogyny. What else can it be when it denies women personhood and insists we are just a set of sexist regressive stereotypes that men can choose to inhabit? That women exist purely to validate their identity?

MalagaNights · 22/11/2024 17:06

The continued 'threat' to JK Rowling that everyone is going to hate or forget Harry Potter is just too funny and keeps getting funnier.

Clearly not.

The way "TRA" is used btw IMO it is coming across as derogatory, it also seems to be an overused/vague slur to use against anyone who simply doesn't agree with you, and gender critical people are the only ones who use this literally noone else.

If by "women's rights campaigners" I presume you specifically mean people with gender critical views, I haven't seen anyone directly call them "Nazis" but people have correctly pointed out neo-Nazis are on the same side as gender critical people. Nazis came out in support of KellyJayKeen on her side on her Australia trip I believe?

And earlier this year a Neo-Nazi leader who helped campaign against drag queen story time was caught with CP. Funny how I didn't hear JK Rowling or any gender critical person talk about how awful this is. Or maybe it's only bad when a LGBT person or ally does it? My point being there does appear to be an agenda going on and cherry-picking of news articles to suit this.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/neo-nazi-leader-who-protested-drag-queen-story-hours-arrested-for-child-pornography/ar-BB1npyN2

"And when did the last HP book come out?"

Isn't there a TV series or something where JK Rowling will have involvement? Would I be wrong in speculating she will be discreetly checking the social media accounts of all the people applying to be actors to check what their trans views are? With ~100 trans posts a month on twitter you can't deny trans people would appear to be living inside her head without paying any rent.

DeanElderberry · 22/11/2024 17:20

TRA means Trans Rights Advocate(s).

If you think that is derogatory you should ask yourself why.

Glurzabog · 22/11/2024 17:38

biscuitandcake · 15/11/2024 23:14

It's complicated, but otherwise moderators have to sift through endless amounts of really grim material. If you disagree maybe you could volunteer for the job of looking at beheading videos, monkey torture and weird porn for days at a time on one of the many social media sites.
I don't even have bluesky or care particularly. But I have had jobs which involve looking at really grim material all day and it takes it out of you. If you want an unmoderated website those exist. But most people don't want that and that is reasonable. (Mumsnet auto moderated posts using the c---o word for instance). Otherwise how do you expect sites to remove that material?

But third-world ghost data workers still have to watch all that, to tag it to train LLMs.

Abra1t · 22/11/2024 17:44

lcakethereforeIam · 21/11/2024 01:44

Just watched a YouTube by the Famous Artist Birdy Rose, she got suspended in 3 minutes 😁 Apparently BlueSky is having a mare because all the users keep complaining about one another. Wouldn't have forseen that a site populated by thin skinned narcissists would have that kind of problem 🤔 And lots of anime porn! Some one in the comments suggested there was CP too. I hope that's wrong.

It sounds a bit like Threads, where everyone seems to be a victim of something. Or posting about the kind things they've done.

Christinapple · 22/11/2024 17:51

DeanElderberry · 22/11/2024 17:20

In practice it's used against anyone who isn't gender critical, and the only places it can be seen are on here, kiwifarms or by the far right on twitter.

It's not something everyday people would say or use.

DeanElderberry · 22/11/2024 18:05

Everyday people don't know what gender is. Who knows what they might say if they found out?

Aw. Don't like being called a T(rans) R(ights) A(ctivist)? Cry me a river, mate.

I'm a 2nd Wave Feminist. I reject the very notion of Gender. It is a dangerous stereotype used to oppress women. We are oppressed because of our sex. GC is a handy shorthand, not something I identify as tbh.

But if we're starring people because of an intersection of one belief: MAPs come under the trans umbrella.

Hello Chris, are you really starting a “which side has more paedophile associations” competition? Because I really don’t think you’ll come out as the winner there…

Quite. And the issue isn’t really which side has the most paedophiles, is it? It’s which side considers “minor attraction” to be a valid sexual orientation like any other kink.

as others said: only you TRAs equate being a paedophile (MAP to cover it up) with a legit sexuality.

What on earth makes you think i am a) a nazi (just because i believe in women's rights? i am well aware, thank you, what nazis think of women, both the traditional actually jackbooted type and the neo type) and b) i wouldn't thoroughly celebrate any and all paedophiles being caught (and preferably sent down for a long stretch)?

Star Observer. PMSL What garbage. A femphobic misogynist hate site.

BTW, JK's crusade is for WOMENS RIGHTS. Not against males or 'trans' people. Even though she appears more popular and respected now than when she was merely an author.
