Reduxx posted this statement today:

https://x.com/ReduxxMag/status/1856013196638793770

'OH NO! Last week, some rabid trans activists organized a mass-report campaign to have REDUXX banned on Patreon, and, unfortunately, Patreon bent the knee.
With that, we lost the primary source of recurring monthly donations we had.

Unfortunately, THIS MEANS WE WILL BE SHUTTING DOWN... is what they'd like us to say. But sucks to be them. ®

Ultimately, we would do this work if we had not one penny coming in. So trying to get us booted off of every platform with the intention of shutting us up is a fruitless endeavor. We are here to expose gender ideology's impact on women and children, and nothing short of the whole team dying in an unfortunate mass hot air balloon incident will stop us from doing what we are doing.

In the interim, if you'd like to continue to support the work we do, please visit REDUXX.INFO/SUPPORT for other ways of throwing a tip in our hat.

We love ya.
RXX Team'

Yes yes, it's all because of "rabid trans activists mass report campaign" and not the fact they were allegedly using Patreon to sell bladed or pointed weapons- knuckledusters with protruding knife points which they were illegally declaring as "keychains" to get them through customs?

Patreon doesn't permit that, nothing to do with trans people or allies here.

Can you please link to proof of this?

Allegedly they are/were selling this weapon via mail declaring it as a "keychain" and not declaring it as a weapon, see 1st image. Yes, it's a knuckle duster with attached large protruding knife points, a very dangerous weapon.

I haven't seen the page they were selling it on, it's probably gone since they were banned, but 2nd image you can see their Twitter/X account trying to defend it. "self defence keychain", "ebay sell them too" (no they don't), "legal in the US".

I'm not familiar with the US laws, but even if it's legal to carry bladed/pointed knuckledusters there I'm sure it isn't legal to post them telling the postal service and customs (if it crosses borders, I don't know where they are being posted from) they are "just keychains".

And it goes without saying it's illegal to carry weapons in the UK (including everyday objects carried intended for use as a weapon) and being caught with this thing in the UK would be a go straight to jail card.

So yeah, understandably Patreon want nothing to do with this.

They are legal in US, see first result below for an Amazon. Com.listing for the same type of keychain item (shippable to the UK)

Going back a little, this was brought up because reddux were banned from Patreon. The alleged reason for this is the bladed knuckle duster they were allegedly selling. Patreon doesn't permit this.

Christinapple · 11/11/2024 22:26

Here is proof

Their patreon is banned but this archived page shows their weapon.

Patreon may not (never used the site so have no knowledge of their rules) , but Amazon in the US does sell them. It's the same item (the sharp ends are covered on the photo) so Reduxx may not have realised Patreon didn't allow them).

I've Just discovered you can buy an air rifle on Amazon in the US! I'd better stop searching for things that are illegal in the UK before I have the police turning up!

Christinapple · 11/11/2024 22:32

"Reduxx may not have realised Patreon didn't allow them)."

https://www.patreon.com/policy/guidelines

"Bladed and edged weapons: Creators are not permitted to sell, distribute, or raffle off bladed and edged weapons (e.g. swords, daggers, knives, bayonets) on Patreon."

This took me seconds to look up.

Christinapple · 11/11/2024 22:37

One more little thing, they are now claiming they "only sell to the US" but their Patreon is archived as saying "We declare this item as a "keychain" for shipping, but we cannot guarantee every country is going to like this. In the rare event your item is rejected at your country's border we will..."

This implies the weapon is/was being sold to multiple countries, as well as an admission by them they are not accurately declaring what the item really is for postage/customs.

YouAreOne · 11/11/2024 22:43

And that's the sole reason Reduxx were taken off Patreon? 🤨

Nah mate.

If that self-defence keyring is against Patreon rules then I think Patreon admins should have contacted Reduxx and notified them that it would result in a ban if they continued to offer it.

I am always amazed at the range of items available for sale in America that would never be available in Europe - it blows my mind that pharmaceutical prescription drugs are advertised on telly.

Well I've now cancelled all subscriptions I make through Patreon and remade them by direct credit card payment. I have also deleted my Patreon account.

Oh and I've also added Reduxx to my monthly subscriptions😃

"self defence keyring"

Did you look at the photo of it and think about it for a moment? It's effectively a knuckleduster with 2 knifes attached, any use of that would probably kill the person it was used against. It's more of a murder weapon than what reddux calls a "self defence kitty keyring"

If we want to talk more about self defence there's also a rule that is has to be "reasonable force only and not excessive". Killing someone would mean a lot of explaining to do in court if it was really absolutely necessary for you to kill them.

I personally think it's reassuring Patreon zapped Reddux's account once this came to their attention, it shows they have zero tolerance for this.

Helleofabore · 11/11/2024 23:06

I cannot believe that patreon would ban a company for this. Contact them and say, this item is not permitted? Fine. That is appropriate for Patreon to do. To ban in this way, I think that is disproportionate.

I double checked & was relieved that I wasn't subscribing via Patreon as well; I'm glad my usual monthly sub will go through as normal.

Have Patreon made any public statement about this? If they believe themselves to be the good guys here, you'd think they would.

lifeturnsonadime · 11/11/2024 23:10

Gosh what a shit show. I'd love to know who has set up Reduxx in this way.

Any ideas?

YouAreOne · 11/11/2024 23:12

Maybe Reduxx are following the trend of the many many TRAs openly posting photos of themselves on X holding knives and guns that they plan to decapitate/silence TERFs with.

On rule for thee?

Some very tall and ugly womxn on X seem pretty jubilant about it.

America allows citizens to carry mace spray, bear spray, tasers, and guns - and there's the Second Amendment too which allows assault weapons - so as a culture they have a very strong sense of allowing citizens to protect themselves from violent attack. Perhaps, if Patreon (being an American company) were to try and make social capital from their banning of Reduxx it might attract criticism from Americans, on both sides of the aisle, who believe that people have a right to protect themselves when attacked.

I think Patreon would have been justified in reiterating their T&Cs to Reduxx and then to other account holders too with the warning that flouting these terms would result in a ban.

TempestTost · 11/11/2024 23:38

I didn't know you couldn't buy an air gun in the UK.

I guess I have no reason to have run into it, but I basically think of them as a toy.

Christinapple · 12/11/2024 00:03

Glad we figured out why they were banned from Patreon. Only question remaining is what jurisdiction are Reddux in, or at least the person who is responsible for posting the edged weapons falsely declaring them as "keychains" for customs? Just so law enforcement can take a look into this and check if any laws have been broken.

NotBadConsidering · 12/11/2024 00:45

Does this information about Patreon and keychains mean that Khelif has now changed sex and is a woman?
