Trans activists gatecrash women's rights rally as they protest speech by Kellie-Jay Keen at 'Let Women Speak' event in the home of suffragette Emily Davison

Trans activists gatecrashed a women's rights rally held in the hometown of suffragette Emily Davison today.

Around 70 women gathered in Carlisle Park, Morpeth, Northumberland, this afternoon for a Let Women Speak (LWS) event, spearheaded by women's rights campaigner Kellie-Jay Keen, aka Posie Parker.

But they were met by counter demonstrators shouting through megaphones, who wore masks, waved flags and held placards which read: 'Transwomen are women'.

Organiser of LWS, Posie Parker, took the microphone and said: 'Some women are coming to speak using some words, and some spoiled brats are trying to stop us.

'We just want to speak about our rights. We want to speak about our spaces, our sports, our children, our safety.

Those people over there are from the elites and are trying to shut us up.

'Most of us are from relatively normal families who have to pay a mortgage, pay bills.

'They haven't sent us to a nice university to mess around with our fees and our grants and to come and harass middle-aged women.'

During the speeches, the counter protestors shouted: 'You're not radical, you're just d*heads.'

They blew whistles in an attempt to drown out the gathering and also shouted 'get off the stage' and 'get some new material'.

As Ms Parker took the microphone, she was branded a 'fascist' by the counter group.

A handful of women spoke about issues including schools, women's rights and the concept of being non-binary.

This is only bits from an article at https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13955045/trans-gatecrash-womens-rally-home-suffragette-emily-davison.html

I cant find anything else about this, but its quite late and I'm a bit tired so may have missed something.

Looks like the police weren't that well prepared, or had thought not many would turn up.

A real shame, as (no insult to Morpeth) going to smaller places is a positive action by LWS. Rather than assuming everybody can get to the nearest big city.

Hope everyone is okay.

There are a lot of good comments on that article. People are understanding the issues and supporting women.

Counter protesting isn't exactly gatecrashing.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 14/10/2024 07:49

That's a very clear headline by the Daily Mail. 👏

Counter protesting isn't exactly gatecrashing.

Counter protesting against women's rights isn't exactly a great look. What exactly is it they think they are counter protesting? Women believing they have the right to say no?

Floisme · 14/10/2024 07:55

I hope everyone is OK.

Calling these events 'Let Women Speak' was a stroke of genius., and the disrupters fall for it every single time.

Hairyesterdaygonetoday · 14/10/2024 07:59

At least it’s very clear.

KJK says “Let women speak.”
Transactivists say “No.”

OuterSpaceCadet · 14/10/2024 08:16

Good point. It's like she's highlighting in the open what misogynists have traditionally done behind the closed doors of homes, workplaces and institutions of power.

Counter protesting isn't exactly gatecrashing.

It wasn't a protest. It was an opportunity for women to speak.

wulves · 14/10/2024 08:22

In a way they are protesting against men (and their allies) telling women to stfu and accept what they are being told. Calling it a counter protest is actually so much worse and more accurate than gate-crashing.

BenditlikeBridget · 14/10/2024 08:27

I’m going to start saying “misogynists masquerading as trans activists” or “homophobes masquerading as trans activists” (depending who they’re trying to silence at the time) when referring to these people I think.

It really was. I don't know what Posie used to do for a living, but she's consistently shown a flair for marketing that would qualify her for a high-salary job in an advertising agency.

Or 'anti women's rights' or 'anti women's equality'. Since they regularly misrepresent women's position as 'anti trans' let's see how they like it. Infact in their case it accurately represents their position.

Posie was in Nottingham and the TRAs were shouting and the women of Nottingham started chanting 'Let Women Speak'.

It was an organic reaction to the mob, which is why it works every single time.

Paging Liz @POWNewcastleEastWallsend !

I hope you got home OK and enjoyed it, despite the little ranting fascists. I'm at work in the Netherlands, or I would have tried to get up there.

I mean it's fair to say that Posie Parker's position is anti-trans isn't it?

She is promoting that landlords should be able to refuse housing for trans people and employers should also be able to refuse employment on the basis of trans status.

If that is not anti-trans I'm not sure what is.

You can agree with some of her positions without needing to agree with all of them.

Personally I think her comments are a lot less problematic than the behaviour of the people who "counter protest" at her events. Perhaps she would have a better impression of trans people if trans activists didn't behave like woman hating little thugs at every opportunity.

And yes, OK, maybe these activists aren't representative of the trans community as a whole but there comes a point where the majority of nice harmless trans people need to stand up and say, "not in our name".

Let's not mince words here.

Kellie-Jay Keen / Posie Parker is calling for landlords and employers to be able to discriminate against people on the basis of a protected characteristic.

She is saying landlords should be able to refuse housing on the basis of trans-status.

She is saying that employers should be able to refuse employment on the basis of trans-status.

It is abhorrent, and anyone attending her speeches to support her should know what exactly they are supporting.

For anyone that doesn't think that statements like these should be protested against, well I guess that says a lot about them.

Now that all the other stuff has been debunked, is this the last remaining bad thing?

Floisme · 14/10/2024 12:13

I don't believe that anyone should be discriminated against just because they're trans so, if that is KJK's stance (I don't watch her videos any more, they're too long winded and 'shoot from the hip' for my taste) then I guess I disagree with her on that matter. I still support LWS and the wonderful, brave women who go - unmasked unlike so many of the disrupters - and speak there. Describing it as 'her speeches' (presumably KJK's?) suggests a total misunderstanding of what it's about.

Datun · 14/10/2024 12:15

'Some women are coming to speak using some words, and some spoiled brats are trying to stop us.

that's brilliant. People will see all sorts of parallels to other posh rich kids gluing their hands to this, that and the other.

Well obviously, it shouldn't be a protected characteristic.

That was a stroke of genius from TRA.

Middle-aged cross dressers do not need to be protected by legislation so they can carry out their fetish in public.

Let's not mince our words here.

Her events consist of a group of women, a patch of grass and a microphone. It's a very simple formula. Women are allowed to speak about matters affecting their lives.

Trans activists feel so very threatened by this that they show up to stop women from speaking. They are violent, misogynistic, abusive thugs. There have been multiple incidents involving trans activists assaulting women who have done absolutely nothing wrong. In Auckland a trans activist punched a 70 year old woman in the head and fractured her skull. He got off with a rap over the knuckles and lifelong anonymity.

The "counter protesters" are demonstrating perfectly why these events need to take place. And I wouldn't want to hire or rent a property to people like that either. Who would?

yes. Transactivation seems characterised by them not mincing their words, but absolutely demanding that we mince ours - or else.
