Do these idiots really think they are clever.

🚨Breaking🚨

Trans activists have just disrupted the annual Conference being held by LGB Alliance by releasing insects in the main hall.

These nasty individuals who seek to disrupt a peaceful conference of lesbian and gay people show themselves up to be the real bigots.

But it means I shudder at the entitled homophobic hostility demonstrated by these young people.

MarieDeGournay · 12/10/2024 10:12

Ah yes, when the Dublin Gay Pride people photoshopped something like 'TRANS RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS' onto the placard of a Lesbian and Gay rights protester in a photo from1982. They were never properly held to account for that.

I can imagine it was particularly difficult for you and your family to see their tragic loss being misused in such a shameful way by TRAs. Nothing is sacred, no stunt too despicable, it seems. * *
Very sorry for your troubles, DeanElderberry, and the fact that the echoes are still here today.

Imnobody4 · 12/10/2024 10:32

I wonder if they'll be reported to Prevent. I noticed that link to the Trans Kids report of the event had a 'Quick exit ' button at the top.
It is just so pathetic and infantile.

Helleofabore

They must have moved/removed the statement but here is a link to some of the info in the survey. If you click on the Our Survey button.
https://lgballiance.org.uk/resources/

Interesting that it also shows a majority of LGBA supporters described themselves as left-wing or centre-left.

Edited

Thanks Snowypeaks

I wouldn't get too hung up on the cruelty to animals angle, because it seems these crickets were bred to be fed to pet reptiles. They were never going to meet a very pleasant end.

The whole thing just makes me feel sad. These seem to be young women who are quite easily manipulated - glinner has suggested they were groomed by older male trans activists, and while I don't know if that's true, they do seem to be quite suggestible, and to have been led into believing that this particular battle is their own equivalent of the anti-apartheid or pro-CND movements in the 70s and 80s.

They no doubt imagined that releasing crickets was a harmless way to disrupt a conference, causing annoyance and mild distress but without physically hurting anyone. They don't strike me as particularly bright. What's particularly sad is that many of those running the conference had really struggled and fought for gay rights and really suffered along the way. They now want to protect young lesbians who are being brainwashed into thinking they need to cut off their breasts and take life-altering medication. Those same young women, instead of thanking them, are treating them as the enemy.

ColdinSeptember · 12/10/2024 10:55

TRAs can’t hold a conference because they aren’t a group. What are they, a mixture of autistic teens and older heterosexual men who like dressing like women. Q+ then includes furries and wearing nappies.
They need legitimacy by attacking themselves to an actual defined group of people who have been/are oppressed.
No one is accepting them on their own.

DeanElderberry · 12/10/2024 10:59

An animal that is going to be eaten will (probably) die sooner than it would otherwise. But that doesn't mean they should be abused beforehand. A young person so indifferent to creatures' wellbeing (and the potential environmental damage they could do) that they will use them like this is one who has something very dark in their psyche.

I made a comparison in the other thread with men who released mice at a suffragette meeting in our town more than a century ago. Turning living things into toys or weapons is immoral. imo

It shows a lack of respect for the dignity of life, animal and human.
Not familiar with the life cycle of crickets, but going from a lab to getting hoovered by conference support is somewhat sad.

ByMerryKoala · 12/10/2024 11:04

People do look after these feed animals. When you get them home they are kept with plenty of space, at the right temperature, with water crystals for hydration because they'd accidentally drown themselves otherwise. You don't just leave them in a bag and let them live a shitty life because eventually they'd die anyway.

Imnobody4 · 12/10/2024 11:07

I notice this report doesn't refer to them as trans activists:

Police were called after “thousands” of live crickets were released by “saboteurs” at a gender-critical campaign group’s annual conference.

The fact that these crickets exist just to be fed to reptiles is beside the point. What if the had released pigs? They are only born to go into the human food chain.

Bannedontherun · 12/10/2024 11:18

Back to the LBA and away from cricket welfare, I think that their sanity and dignity is seen as a massive threat to TRA thinking, which is great IIn my mind the LGBA is well supported `and long may they soldier on!!

TRA conference: there was this one, six years ago. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/3398737-We-re-Still-Here-Conference-8th-September-A-report-from-the-inside

Young trans-identified females being manipulated by older trans-identified males: I have read of some of these confused kids being told to check their male privilege and be quiet so the poor oppressed transwomen can get a chance to speak. Socially conditioned to be nice and put themselves last, of course they accept this. I imagine as with many other exploitative movements the older ones look for those who are particularly susceptible and lacking in self-confidence and self-esteem, not to mention critical thinking skills.

Hi all First off, I’m a regular poster, have been here for years under various usernames, it I’m posting here on a name change as I don’t want this...

Yes that was the one I was referring to upthread.

popeydokey · 12/10/2024 11:23

The other thread has gone but I want to register my utter disgust at these homophobic people.

Targeting an event for homosexual people is beyond vile.

I think they'd have struggled to get pigs into the conference centre. How on earth did they get the crickets past the airport-style security checks? Did they have helpers on the inside who left them in the loo? I can't imagine the venue is happy about this at all. It's a major security lapse in a high-profile place so close to the House of Commons.

DeanElderberry · 12/10/2024 09:35

The other thread on this has gone. As I said there, I'm disturbed by many aspects of the young bullies' actions but particularly by the cruelty to living creatures, a known marker of psycopathy.

Many years ago one of my cousins was kicked to death by teenagers who objected to him being gay. Mob aggression against same-sex attracted people is a major trigger for me.

God, I'm so sorry to read this.
Must be scary to see the same aggression being whipped up again.

ChaChaChooey · 12/10/2024 11:30

Christinapple · 11/10/2024 22:38

In the Mermaids and LGBAlliance court case, it was revealed only 7% of the members are LGB.

It's not very accurate to call it a gay rights charity, given most members are hetero and virtually everything they do and say is somehow about trans people. The conference which was disrupted was no exception with the agenda being trans people.

It's ironic there's no T in their name given trans people are all they talk about.

This is misinformation at best, deliberate disinformation at worst.

It's extremely concerning.

DeanElderberry · 12/10/2024 11:33

I do not know whether any of the young people involved in this are gender questioning, but memories of school suggest that there are girls who are capable of extremely malign acts, and that girls in groups are worse than girls on their own. They are not necessarily being manipulated by men.

That said, I worry about the possibility of young people with this kind of aggressive temperament taking testosterone.

InvisibleBuffy · 12/10/2024 11:33

Can't see anything on the guardian or BBC about this. I think it shows just how much protection the label 'trans' gives to homophobia
If it were any other group that had done this at a gay rights conference, it'd be front page news. But homophobic attacks are somehow no longer news if the trans community feel they're justified.

Imnobody4 · 12/10/2024 11:39

I'm just wondering about the venue. How much it will cost to sort it out? Twitter is saying crickets are very persistent. Is this going to mean more venues refusing gender critical meetings?
It isn't just a prank it's soft terrorism.

It's worth considering how many of the American mass shooting incidents have been perpetrated by "trans men" relative to all female people.

Madcats · 12/10/2024 11:39

X is busy delving into the how/who.

It would appear that airport-style security applied whilst awaiting a conference pass.

Once you have a pass, you are free to exit, pick up a few boxes of crickets and get waved back in (which apparently is what they dis at lunchtime)

For what is supposed to be such a high-security conference centre, I find this exceptionally lax.

FrippEnos · 12/10/2024 11:41

@Christinapple

How do you, as a trans supporter, justify this attack on lesbian, gay and bi people?
