🚨Breaking🚨

Trans activists have just disrupted the annual Conference being held by LGB Alliance by releasing insects in the main hall.

These nasty individuals who seek to disrupt a peaceful conference of lesbian and gay people show themselves up to be the real bigots.

I attached the wrong image and don't know how to remove it. Here is the other.

judging by the ages of those in the photos, they’re barely more than children. They haven’t the faintest fucking idea of the level of prejudice that gay and lesbian people had to deal with, the things that people like Bev & Kate had to put up with. These silly stupid children have taken everything fought for by the ppl who founded the LGBA utterly for granted, they haven’t a clue of how it was. They didn’t fight for it so they don’t value it. Utterly spoilt selfish narcissists parroting luxury beliefs.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/10/2024 08:47

Does anyone know of thos counts as a breach of Baker's licence conditions?

I imagine it would if it were proven Baker was actually involved. But I imagine there is plausible deniability. It's just a picture of an insect and some trolling on Twitter.

Helleofabore · 12/10/2024 08:49

Derek, I have no idea about what impact it will have on Baker. None, I suspect.

However, have these two self styled 'elders' encouraged teenagers to do this? That in itself is very concerning. That they thought any aspect of that was appropriate.

Top posting, Helleofabore.

ETA: The statement can be found on the LGBA website.

Edited

Snowy, I looked and I couldn't find it on the website. The previous link I had was to a page that has been deleted. They have updated their site.

If you have a link that works, or found it on their site, it would be great to post it.

Ah, sorry. The link to the statement was in my bookmarks and I didn't realise it had gone. That's annoying.

Helleofabore · 12/10/2024 09:08

has it gone? Or was I using the wrong link?

I am happy to be corrected as always.

Imagine this from the pov of a different group. Say, a conference discussing racism. As a white woman, my concerns wouldn't be in the agenda, nor should they. The conference might discuss how the actions of certain white people negatively effect them. But if I were to release a swarm of bugs in protest, it would 100% be considered a hate crime, as it should.

So why do these people think that being excluded and criticised warrants this reaction, and don't see that it is literally also a hate crime?

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 12/10/2024 09:15

I was wondering about the hate crimes issue. I get a bit mixed up about the English and Scottish laws, they are different. I find it difficult to imagine that anyone who did that at a Pride event wouldn't be arrested. But, who knows.

Igmum · 12/10/2024 09:24

This article says they were let go. Why on earth didn't security call the Police/why didn't the Police take action?

The speech was postponed and later speeches were cancelled. They filmed some of the earlier speeches using hidden cameras in order to “expose the fact that this group really has no interest whatsoever in promoting the rights of cis LGB people, and exists entirely to hurt the trans community as much as they possibly can”. Speakers at the anti-trans event told the audience to “Squash them, kill them, kill the buggers!”

Well I can foresee the above getting used in isolation without any reference to the fact the squash them, kill them, kill the buggers was relating to the sudden cricket infestation and NOT the trans community.

Keepsmesane · 12/10/2024 09:27

No one was arrested but police say are investigating Ho Ho let’s see 2 tier policing should be a hate crime , doubt there will be any action taken against them, just a slap in the wrist

I know they want us to take them seriously but honestly all I can think of is. I hope when they grow up they look back & cringe themselves inside outb

Yes, that's very deliberate framing. Both there and in the standfirst. They've completely removed the quote from the crickets and surrounded it with 'they hate trans people' narrative.

DeanElderberry · 12/10/2024 09:35

The other thread on this has gone. As I said there, I'm disturbed by many aspects of the young bullies' actions but particularly by the cruelty to living creatures, a known marker of psycopathy.

Many years ago one of my cousins was kicked to death by teenagers who objected to him being gay. Mob aggression against same-sex attracted people is a major trigger for me.

youhavenoshameonyourface · 12/10/2024 09:43

Oh that's horrific @DeanElderberry

Your poor cousin and family.

TRA's are actively trying to create a return to this kind of hatred. It's fucking horrific.

Snowypeaks · 12/10/2024 09:46

They must have moved/removed the statement but here is a link to some of the info in the survey. If you click on the Our Survey button.

Interesting that it also shows a majority of LGBA supporters described themselves as left-wing or centre-left.

sashh · 12/10/2024 09:48

Christinapple · 11/10/2024 22:38

In the Mermaids and LGBAlliance court case, it was revealed only 7% of the members are LGB.

It's not very accurate to call it a gay rights charity, given most members are hetero and virtually everything they do and say is somehow about trans people. The conference which was disrupted was no exception with the agenda being trans people.

It's ironic there's no T in their name given trans people are all they talk about.

I can't work out if you are not very bright or not very educated?

How many people working for the NSPCC are children?

How many of the RSPB are birds?

Cats protection do not employ any cats?

Also whenever anybody says anything the TRAs claim it is about trans people. If the bus is late then the driver is a transphobe.

The Large Hadron Collider found the Higgs Boson, they should be looking for a non binary boson, but they won't because they don't want trans people to exist.

Deepest sympathy for the loss of your cousin, killed by hate against gay people. Which we thought was something in the past.

If you add together all the punches, iron bars, explosive devices, live animals, etc, used by TRAs to attack women and LBG people, it adds up to a really disturbing level of hatred and dehumanising of 'the enemy', including likening them to insects to be exterminated. Sounds frighteningly familiar, doesn't it?

It really is unbelievable that using/not using certain words constitutes some kind of hate crime-ish-sort-of-thing, and a visit from the police, whereas this campaign of attacks against women and LGB people just goes on and on and on, week after week, without proper measures being taken against it.

💐
So sorry to hear that.

NotBadConsidering · 12/10/2024 09:59

What a load of nonsense, the other thread being deleted. There weren’t any posts that were outside of “talk guidelines”, let alone too many.

TRAs reporting things I bet. They’ll target this one because it draws attention to a bad thing their colleagues did.

DrudgeJedd · 12/10/2024 10:04

Why was the other thread taken down?
It must be great to have a mum who lectures in law at KCL to clean your mess up after you.

Shortshriftandlethal · 12/10/2024 10:04

Sounds as if someone may work in a university science department - in the labs....to have access to such creatures.

DeanElderberry · 12/10/2024 10:04

It was a very long time ago, and obviously far worse for his immediate family, but still pretty grim. He's the only person I've known who died by violence (not that I knew him well - he was about 8 years older than me, and that's a big difference when you're young) and it was horrific. We get reminded of it fairly often because the court case afterwards is notorious - and an image of the protest against that got appropriated by the TRAs a year or two ago.
