Want to lose weight faster? Be non binary! 😂

Good news for us ladies, I was looking about calorie deficits to lose weight and came across this. Did you know that non binaries are able to eat more calories and still lose weight than us more women? 😂😂

Off to declare myself theyself and gorge on cake!

Facepalm of the morning 🤦

I'm sure some con-artist citizen nutritionist has come up with a Star Sign Diet - you know, a liquid diet for Aquarians, Bovril for Taureans, olive oil for Virgos, pescatarian for Pisceans, raw antelope for Leos etc Grin

"raw antelope for Leos" 😂😂

CriticalCondition · 25/09/2024 11:52

It's the Scorpios I feel sorry for.

NotBadConsidering · 25/09/2024 11:54

Bovril for Taureans

Isn’t this a bit cannibalistic? Grass fed for Taureans in summer, hay or grain in winter.

JollyTallTeddy · 25/09/2024 11:55

I do so enjoy the naughty board for wit, wisdom and decent critical thinking. Thank you, one and all!

Raw antelope for the leos 😂 😂

CriticalCondition · 25/09/2024 11:58

Liquid diet for Aquarians you say? <Eyes up non-binary quantity of cake and liquidiser>.

ScrambledSmegs · 25/09/2024 12:01

Double the recommended calorie intake for Gemins? I can live with that.

ReadWithScepticism · 25/09/2024 12:05

As an aquarian, for whom a liquid diet is optimal, could I ask what number of alcohol units is considered 'problem drinking' for non-binary people?
For women it is 35 and for men, 50. So am I right in thinking I could squeeze in an extra 7.5 units if I go non-binary?

Bodeganights · 25/09/2024 12:05

This just shows counting calories as a weight loss solution as a useless idea.

Unless they assume all NBs to be women on testosterone? Does testosterone usage increase calorie usage?

I'm reading it as a deliberate piece of mischief smuggled in by a clever GC trickster, in order to show up the unscientific daftness of it all...Wink

Actually, I think you're right. If you read the rest, there's a very tentative bit about biological sex, and why it's important.

Also, I can understand the logic.. if you don't know/can't admit the sex of the patient without getting into trouble you just take the average as a ball-park guideline. Quite clever, really!

OK, I take it back, maybe you DO want those 2 as your doctors! :)

caramac04 · 25/09/2024 12:19

I’m just stunned at the stupidity.

Brilliant.

Falderalagain · 25/09/2024 12:24

Starsign diet - does that mean Geminis should eat for two? I'm willing to try ...

SquigglyNonsense · 25/09/2024 12:28

But it doesn't work like that!

OchonAgusOchonOh · 25/09/2024 12:30

ScarlettSunset · 25/09/2024 09:35

Hurrah!
I don't consider myself to have a gender (I'm female cos I was born like that and don't know how it 'feels' to be any different). Does that make me non binary by default? Great news if it means I can have more calories without putting on weight!

I'm afraid not. It makes you agender. I would send an immediate email to Everyday Health complaining about the literal violence of not including agender people in their list.

On a more serious note, I suspect as an agender person, you can eat nothing at all as the calorie allowances are only provided for those with genders.

IDontHateRainbows · 25/09/2024 12:36

OMG did they actually just take the difference between the male and female figures and divide by 2 to get the non binary figure? Makes (non) sense!

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 25/09/2024 12:37

deary, deary me

If gender identity determines required calorie intake, then someone needs to get on the wikipedia Gender Identity page (which is solemnly BRILLIANT by the way), and update the calorie guidance STAT.

won't someone think of the poor maverique gender people who are currently unaware of the calorie consumption they should be aiming for?

Nooooo!

Sounds just about my luck though....water and dust only for me....

LizzieSiddal · 25/09/2024 12:43

🤡

murasaki · 25/09/2024 13:11

Excellent. I'll be non binary for the amount of time it takes me to eat and digest my leftover lunch of 5 cheese mac and cheese, and then revert back later. Such fab news! 🤣

JeremiahBullfrog · 25/09/2024 13:14

To be fair (not that this rubbish deserves fairness), the male and female values are only averages anyway. So if a non-binary person is equally likely to be either sex (doubtful), then the NB average could be assumed to be slap bang in the middle of the M and F averages, as they've done.

murasaki · 25/09/2024 13:14

In fact I might go the whole hog and add some butter and define as a man. When do you think i can switch back? Friday?

Perhaps they used the Duckworth-Lewis method?
