The wiki page is locked to 'prevent vandalism'prevent anyone correcting it with the truth.

Isn't it funny how all this new virtual resourses which are trumpeted as giving everyone the opportunity to have a voice somehow end up with replicating IRL ie men's voices shout down women.

Letter from ERCC Board:

In May 2024 Rape Crisis Scotland commissioned an independent review of the National Service Standards (NSS) at ERCC. This is the first of its kind, as Rape Crisis Scotland implement a new strategy to ensure that NSS is being used by all Rape Crisis Scotland member organisations.

We welcomed this independent review as it provided an opportunity to ensure the service we provide is in line with the NSS and to recognise the hard work of our staff who are delivering support to survivors daily.

We recognise that we got things wrong. We are sorry. We are committed to putting things right and implementing the recommendations in the report.

In the past year we have delivered specialist support, counselling and advocacy to 1,149 survivors of sexual violence. We received 699 referrals and provided approximately 11,608 hours of support and contact to survivors across our services. As part of Rape Crisis Scotland’s national prevention project, we delivered in-person workshops in schools across Edinburgh, East and Midlothian and West Lothian.

The independent review outlined that we have delivered positive outcomes for survivors of sexual violence requiring support reporting they:

  • felt safer and more in control of their lives and choices
  • felt more able to cope with the impacts of sexual violence
  • developed improved well-being and resilience

The independent review also identified areas for improvement; including a change of culture and the need to strengthen systems and procedures, to continue delivering excellence in supporting survivors of sexual violence or abuse.

Communication with Rape Crisis Scotland is happening on a daily basis to ensure that we are implementing the recommendations.

The current Board have immediately taken action on three key areas highlighted by RCS:

  • We reinstated and clarified our women only spaces in February 2024
  • All staff have up to date safeguarding training, and our safeguarding policy was reviewed in December 2023
  • All staff have attended refresher training on data protection, and our data protection policy has just been reviewed

Work is underway on the wider recommendations and we want to not only meet the needs of the NSS but exceed them.

We strive to provide a safe accessible and inclusive service and are committed to continuously improving. We want to reassure all survivors who are currently accessing our services and anyone seeking support that we are still here for you, and you matter to us.

How can they possibly have a change in culture with MW still in position?

'The review was heavily critical of Wadhwa, who self identifies as a woman but does not have a gender recognition certificate and is legally a man.
It found her be a domineering as chief executive who “who did not understand the limits on her role’s authority” and it said Wadhwa “failed to set professional standards of behaviour” within the organisation.
She was portrayed as incompetent, overseeing an organisation with systemic failures and a chaotic approach in key areas such as financial transparency, training and safeguarding for staff and clients.'

I mean this is it isnt it?
All across the board wherever we see this level of entitlement shamelessness and scam, it always comes hand in hand with incompetence and bullying.
Pink News is a perfect recent example.

The article clearly states that MW is a male, self IDs himself as a woman and does NOT have the magical piece of paper that changes his legal status.

So why the fuck are they using "she" for a "he"?

I'm sick of this crap.

Well said.
This entire TWAW thing has been going on for too long. The games up. I’m so fed up of it. Women need to wake up to this shit

ArabellaScott · 12/09/2024 20:35

Does 'women only' include males who call.themselves women? In Sandy Brindley speak it does.

So I'm wondering if they are trying a fudge. Lamenting the lack of 'women' only spaces. Everyone assumes they mean single sex spaces, but ... they don't.

Someone at CEO level will have severance agreements written into their contract. They don't get redundancy in the same way the plebs do.

Mridul is likely to get a payout despite how damning this report has been.

This isnt his first Prom, he has danced this dance before with his partner.
Very lucrative.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 12/09/2024 21:53

If RCS are not signposting females to ERCC does that mean their funding will be cut?

Apparently Edinburgh city council pay the CEO of ERCC's salary. We need to be applying pressure wherever we can for a change in CEO. I'm going to start letter writing after the weekend.

It's completely unacceptable if MW is to remain in post.

Is that saying that if he had bothered with the legal fiction of a certificate, it would have been fine and dandy? It's still calling this abusive man she.

IwantToRetire · 13/09/2024 00:20

As the Police Scotland and other "authorities" accepted last year that they will make referrals to Beira's Place, I dont think that one individual now on paid leave will be that relevant.

And if in fact ERCC with its now stated committment to women only services is refusing to do this now, then they will immediately be open to it being said that they lied in the statement about how they have "changed".

(I have this sort of fantasy that Roz Adams is sent into ERCC to provide training to ensure staff and volunteers are up to date with acceptable and professional standards of service support. I am sure she has better things to do with her time, but it would be a nice lesson to ERCC about how much they have messed up. At the expense of women unfortunately.)

Fenlandia · 13/09/2024 05:39

This line from the Times article about the report is heartbreaking. Such a callous disregard for traumatised women and in contravention of any common sense understanding of women's experience of male violence.

"During her research, Ling asked the ERCC for further information on the women-only services it provided but was told there was “very little demand” for them."

Snowypeaks · 13/09/2024 05:50

Imagine Sarah's lawyers quoting from this report that women and girls survivors were damaged by having to ask for a female counsellor for women-only counselling time. Or that women have self-excluded because of the RCC "trans-inclusive" policy.
There's also lots in this report that they can use to show the tribunal panel what RCCs are supposed to be like.
Though having said that, I think the Sussex group is bang to rights anyway, that they know that already but are stringing this out because they are bastards.

Actually, that's not the point, which is that he deliberately and wilfully undermined all standards of professional behaviour, as well as the actual reason for ERCC's existence, to look after the women it was supposed to serve. All for his own nefarious and fiduciary ends.

It doesn't even touch on the fact that, as a male, he should - under the SSE - never even have been considered for the post he took. It also fails to mention that he was utterly unqualified for it, he has no counselling qualification whatsoever.

If they have the will, I'm sure they can sack him without compensation, but I have little confidence in that scenario.

Snowypeaks · 13/09/2024 07:05

Regarding sacking without compensation, I wish that could be true but the board knew all about his (lack of) qualifications, his maleness and the fact that he didn't have a GRC before they gave him the job. Unless he was asked about these things and lied to them they cannot claim any kind of fraud.

As for the SSE, I was told by lawyers on this board talking about the case of the Period Poverty Lead (Jason somebody?) that it was not his fault if the employer doesn't apply the SSE correctly - so I would imagine it would be the same here.

Probably they gave him the post because he was a MCW and despite not being suitable in other ways either.

Snowypeaks · 13/09/2024 07:13

Good.
No apologies to the women and girls who have been harmed by this awful man's policies and style of "leadership", though.

guinnessguzzler · 13/09/2024 07:27

Good news that MW has finally gone. The wording in that statement that stood out to me, however, is 'We are in daily communication with Rape Crisis Scotland, have met their urgent demands' ... this isn't a hostage situation! The trustees allowed the organisation to get into an absolute mess and should now be working their arses off to fix it, not seeing the need for urgent improvement as 'demands'. I do appreciate some may not have been fully aware of how horrendous it was when they took on the role but this has been rumbling for years and frankly it was obvious MW was an entirely unsuitable leader who they should never have employed in the first place. I bet Forth Valley were delighted they took MW off their hands. I also recognise MW is probably a complete nightmare to manage, but that's just another reason why good recruitment is so important.

ArabellaScott · 13/09/2024 07:34

Stood down. If he hadn't, they'd have supported him in place?
