She could have put this to bed by sharing DNA tests. I'm struggling to feel sympathy, although it must be horrid.

Who is the complaint filed against? Anyone know?

In a rough translation I saw on another thread, there's something about "finding out who's responsible" - so maybe it's an action against person or persons unknown at this stage.

RethinkingLife · 10/08/2024 22:36

Rough translation of original document posted on another thread with some paraphrasing.

After the time for sports, comes the time for justice.

Having just won a gold medal at the 2024 Olympics, the boxer Imane Khelif has decided to begin a new fight, a fight for justice, dignity and honour.

Madame Khelif has filed the complaint for aggravated online harassment to Paris prosecutors.
The investigation will determine who was behind this misogynist, racist and sexist campaign, but will also have to concern itself with those who fed the online lynching.
The iniquitous harassment to which the boxing champion had been subjected will [persist?] as the greatest [free translation: shameful] stain on these Olympic Games.

Best efforts with some freedoms.

I've seen way more online and media support for Imane than detractors.

StealthSpinach · 11/08/2024 01:26

Anyone who sent abuse or threats should be prosecuted.
Anyone who simply pointed out an XY athlete is male and should not compete in the female competition has the defence of truth - and I’d like that to be put to the test in court, with all the facts, scientific evidence, etc revealed.

Catsmere · 11/08/2024 01:27

All the frothrage about Poor Imane is the sort of thing only men get. Women don't, least of all from men.

lonelywater · 11/08/2024 01:41

all going bonkers on twitter about this right now, in particular suing JKR. lots of push back saying that 1) defamation is a civil matter, not criminal so the headbangers wanting to set the Babylon on her have gone a bit quiet. 2) it only counts as defamation if what you are saying is a lie, which means he will have to prove, somehow, that he is a women. I think that's what we call a slam dunk.

Really? yes, loads of "well done, punchy bloke" type posts on twitter, but the overwhelming responses are not in agreement, at all.

It's an interesting phenomenon—people come out of the woodwork to make a fuss about a trans woman, an "XY woman," etc. being a woman, when the reason they're worked up in the first place is because they know the person in question is a man.

Precisely!

And actual women are told that we're nasty mean people when we state that they're men, and in this case a cheat, and that their issues have nothing to do with feminism other than being an attack on it. We're expected to Be Kind and play mummy to men as we never are to other women.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 11/08/2024 02:07

Not content with breaking a nose, then?

Yes that's another layer on it—there's an assumption that men's suffering is the worst suffering, and an assumption that these uber-women are suffering most of all, hence, they must be raised up. It's fascinating.

What is it with you saying ‘he’ when SHE a woman? I don’t understand how you can be so horrible! she IS A WOMAN not a transsexual a WOMAN. she is from Algeria under Algeria law they do not recognise ANYONE changing their gender so her gender has NOT been changed her dad came out and provided proof of documents everything to show she is female. What is it with everyone? Lies have been spread and everyone is so quick to believe it. Just because she looks like a man does not mean she’s a man. Do more research.

I'm sure people would if they had sight of the medical evidence. Could start with the karyotyping and go from there, as that would clear it all up nicely.

Delphinium20 · 11/08/2024 02:30

Simmer down, any, can you get yourself to a pound cake?

The truth if the matter is Imane refused to prove Imane was female despite 2x testing by wrestling bodies and, because most of the world has working eyes, we don't believe Imane. Imane can stop this controversy right now with a cheek swab but, funnily, Imane won't consider that. IOC says a passport is enough but a lot of people know that a piece of paper doesn't prove someone's sex. We say he because that is what we see.

I’m calm don’t worry about me. You don’t see a he you just don’t know. And if you don’t know maybe stop saying he. It’s horrible and you are adding to the bullying.

would it actually constitute bullying if this boxer, was in fact, a man?

Catsmere · 11/08/2024 02:43

😆 And here we have the perfect example of what @annejumps and I were talking about!

Well, if we don't know, you can say she and I'll say he and maybe some people will say 'they'...does it really matter then if nobody knows for sure what we call Imane?

So truepp. The outrage is all one way.
