Slaughtering women & girls is *not* terrorism, according to the police

Well, what is it then, when women & girls are targeted because they are specifically girls & women ?

Just your common or garden slaughter?

I'm so so angry about the way in which the regular murder of girls & women because they are female is not seen as political, or a terrorist action.

Not sure why Mumsnet has jumped to the conclusion it's definitely an Incel when the motive hasn't been revealed yet most likely it was a schizophrenic. I've infiltrated Incel groups and while they have a fucked up idealogy 99% would hurt adults not kids. You have to be very fucked in the head to do what that man did yesterday

It's specifically targeting female events, just like the Ariana Grande concert.

Men from some cultures don't believe female should be allowed to do activities such as dancing or listening to music.

We do not know the cultural origin of the alleged murderer.

TooBigForMyBoots · 30/07/2024 14:22

It's not even a hate crime. Misogyny is not a Hate Crime here.Angry

What??? Seriously? They actually argue a woman should not be entitled to say no to sex?

Sorry, stupid post. Of course they do. I just think anyone would try to actually legalise it.

With regard to whether this attack was terrorism or not, isn't it probably just too early to say, or are the police specifically saying there was no political motive involved?

GoldMedallist · 30/07/2024 14:25

Every time a rapist gets away with it, rape is effectively decriminalised.

BonifaceBonanza · 30/07/2024 14:27

@YellowAsteroid hang on there.
Its CURRENTLY not considered terrorist, meaning the police probably already know the background and motive.

Secondly if this were an incel motivated attack then it WOULD be classified as terrorist.

The fact that it was only females affected absolutely does not mean something has a terrorist agenda. Surely you can see that this is ridiculous as terrorism necessarily depends unpin motive.

All of you diminishing these attacks as not political and hence, not terrorism overlook a number of points.

  1. Not all acts of terrorism come with a political statement and/or have direct tangible political goals. Terrorism is first and foremost about inciting terror - that's how it came by its name.

  2. Misogynist terrorism is widely recognized as a thing, and it's Bern around for decades. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misogynistterrorism

3)It's becoming increasingly clear that all forms of terrorism are rooted in misogyny, in that the overwhelming majority of terrorists biographical started from inceldom/misogyny/domestic abuse and graduated to actual terrorist acts.

No, he’s not “from” Rwanda though is he. Clearly a racist post.

The police have released that he was born in Cardiff and his parents emigrated to the UK from Rwanda (a 95% Christian country, for what it's worth).

It's disgusting that you immediately blame it on mental illness, whilst ruling out the toxic masculinity of incel culture as a possibility. Most people with schizophrenia are kind and gentle and are more likely to be victims of violence, both men and women. But if you want to continue with that discredited argument where are the thousands of schizophrenic women losing control and murdering people?

Igmum · 30/07/2024 14:33

That's another way the media diminishes the murder of women and children. The killers are 'nice boys' and 'loving husbands'.

BonifaceBonanza · 30/07/2024 14:34

No, it’s a description of their presentation in wider society prior to the incident.
The exact same reporting takes place whether victims are male or female.

SpicyMoth · 30/07/2024 14:34

Grammarnut · 30/07/2024 14:22

We do not know the cultural origin of the alleged murderer.

Actually we do, we know he was born in Cardiff and his parents are Rwandan and moved to Southport roughly 6 years ago.
We also know he has an older brother.

IdLikeToBeAFraser · 30/07/2024 14:34

I am inclined to agree that when girls/women are specifically targeted, because they are girls/women, then that should be classed as terrorism. The goal is to ensure that women are scared, and as a result, more restricted.

But in this case, we don't know. We don't know if he's outraged that little girls are doing Taylor Swift activities. We don't know if one of the teachers is a woman in his life that he is angry with and all the other victims are some kind of sick collateral damage. We don't know if one of the children was, for some reason, his actual target.

There are too many unknowns that we may or may not ever know the answer to.

But it is truly awful.

I have a close family member who is schizophrenic, unmedicated they would do some very fucked up things. They were sectioned for years because of this your comment is very naive and I'm not "blaming" it on anything. Unlike the people on this site that jump to the conclusion that it's an Incel when that's very fucking unlikely.

Men from some cultures don't believe female should be allowed to do activities such as dancing or listening to music.

Many men died at the Manchester bombing too. Concerts with female popstarts do draw an audience of both male and female. I would not call those "female events".

I would call single-sex events, like a WI meeting a female event.

BonifaceBonanza · 30/07/2024 14:36

The stereotypical tropes are out already then. No critical thinking skills…

Yeah, who ‘just snap’ one day despite a long and detailed history of abuse and failed opportunities to intervene.

We also know he has an older brother.

But we don’t know if his parents were fundamentalist Christians or if they were followers of the church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster.

GoldMedallist · 30/07/2024 14:29

His parents are from Rwanda but he is British.

Has it been revealed that he is adopted then? My Japanese friend wouldn't be too happy to hear she's not Japanese because she was born here.

Just replying to your comment don't want to turn this thread into another circle jerk about what country he's from that's already been done to death on the last two threads

PatatiPatatras · 30/07/2024 14:43

Oh for fucks sake. Call a spade a spade.

This targeted young girls. A boy or man may have been hurt in the mayhem but that does not detract from the fact that girls were targeted.

the show would principally attract young girls. A boy may turn up, that does not change the target demographic. What is all this fuckery confusing statistic and stereotype? I mean it is obvious an adultbmay have turned up and danced. We would not deny the class was still for kids, would we?

and parents are now terrified of using summer camps but this was not terror related. Despite knowledge this targeted a specific demographic.

Lost. just lost.
