Surely this cannot be true. In boxing of all sports. I thought boxing had told men they needed to compete with other men?

”Two athletes competing at the Paris Olympics as “women” were previously disqualified from a women’s world championship for having “XY chromosomes.” Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu-Ting of Taiwan are scheduled to compete in Olympic women’s boxing next week despite past questions surrounding their biological sex.”

I think they may have modified the headline now?

UpThePankhurst · 29/07/2024 19:22

And this is what happens when everyone sensitively and kindly fudges the language to spare men's feelings.

These people are men. That's it. That's all. This is a man who wants to fight a woman.

Women should not be sent into the ring to risk injury or death to gratify a man's ego.

Notaflippinclue · 29/07/2024 19:25

The real women are not punchbags-they must enter the ring and refuse to fight - the only way is to highlight this to the world - maybe crowd find for their broken future

That's so unfair on the women - they've worked their whole lives for the olympics. It shouldn't be up to them to not compete, these cheating men just need to be told no by the sport leaders

Notaflippinclue · 29/07/2024 19:41

This Olympics is turning into an absolute farce - boycott the lot of it - until the sponsors are punished in their pockets nothing will change - go woke go bloody broke

DuesToTheDirt · 29/07/2024 20:59

Presumably the women they will be up against know this? How on earth will they feel entering the ring?

Toseland · 29/07/2024 21:03

This can't be happening! Make some noise everyone!

Terrified I would think. They could die.

BeethovenNinth · 29/07/2024 21:06

This is horrific. This could seriously injure these women.

GailBlancheViola · 29/07/2024 21:10

From the article:

Elsewhere, Nancy Hogshead – the American swimmer who won three golds at the 1984 Games, waded into the row, claiming that ‘gender ideology will get women KILLED’.

Hogshead wrote: ‘Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu-Ting of Taiwan are scheduled to compete in women’s Olympic boxing – despite being disqualified last year for having XY chromosomes, the male phenotype. Let’s remind ourselves that males – however they identify – pack a punch that is 162 per cent more powerful than women – THE biggest performance gap between men and women. Gender ideology will get women KILLED.’

One X user added: ‘Men punching women is now officially an Olympic sport’.

The pictures of the boxers are shall we say illuminating.

HappierTimesAhead · 29/07/2024 21:10

Honestly, shame on these men. They are spineless. Fight your own sex.

GailBlancheViola · 29/07/2024 21:12

The IOC are also spineless and this just proves how much they detest women and women's sports they have it in the Olympics on sufferance.

UpThePankhurst · 29/07/2024 21:12

I'm afraid I significantly doubt the reasons that these men wish to beat women include being afraid to fight men.

ChateauMargaux · 29/07/2024 21:43

The IOC has said they comply with regulation 1.4 and 3.1.... so they are from the right country and they are not pregnant. Great.. no mention in those sections about sex or testosterone... or even identity...

murasaki · 29/07/2024 22:11

Well of course they're not pregnant. Can't think why that might be.

Myalternate · 29/07/2024 22:13

Let’s hope they get to fight each other in their opening bouts 😣

misscockerspaniel · 29/07/2024 22:24

They will not fight each other as they are different weights.

I wonder if the BBC will feature their bouts.

BettyFilous · 29/07/2024 22:33

If the Olympic organisers do go ahead with these bouts, I wonder how spectators will react. The volleyball crowd booed the Dutch child rapist. I can’t imagine the crowd sitting quietly if these two male boxers pummel their female opponents. Aside from the real danger of life-changing injuries for the women, a crowd revolt will be a whole other Olympic scandal. I also think corporate liabilities should apply here for the IOC if they fail to prevent foreseeable harms.

lonelywater · 29/07/2024 22:34

so if either of these two fucking cheats seriously injure, or worse, their opponents, who takes the rap for that?

Right,it wouldn't be safe for them to fight each other would it?

Imagine that.

There will always be scope to blame the women…

Notaflippinclue · 29/07/2024 22:37

Maybe Claire Baldwin will speak out

KnickerlessParsons · 29/07/2024 22:47

And also Claire Balding.

Notaflippinclue · 29/07/2024 22:56

I meant Alec actually
